We leave our room for school around the same time so I usually see them. Either I greet them or they notice me first and greet me,  then we go to school together like that. But I couldn’t find them on the walk to school today. When I saw D’arc looking lethargic and showing up late, I realized what probably happened.

I wonder what the hell she is doing. I feel a bit uneasy when the person who sits next to me isn’t around during the class. I rested my cheek on my palm and spun my pencil while thinking about it. My eyes were set on the blackboard in front of me but it was just that I was looking at it. The words written on it weren’t entering my head at all. I was thinking of something totally different than what was being taught. I was thinking about that dude who had appeared in front of us the day before, Ikusaba Hiiyo. A new person who knows about the Nanana collection but more importantly the thing that’s stuck in my head is that he was a former resident of 202. According to Shiki-san he came into the room after Konjou Kasumi-san who had left the room in March in the previous year. But he had the room for only three months till the contract was nullified, it wasn’t Ikusaba-san who nullified it but the landlady who did it one of her own accord. The reason was that he had paid the room rent but he wasn’t living there. He only visited the room once every two or three weeks and apart from that he didn’t come close to the complex at all. The landlady couldn’t bear looking at Nanana-chan living a lonely life so she snapped. She took the opportunity when Ikusaba-san was in the room to barge in and tell him to leave at once. Ikusaba-san said that it wasn’t his fault and he ran away from the room without paying the rent for that month (she said something about the rule of the manor’s payment being in advance was due to this incident) and that’s still a sore spot for Shiki-san. That’s almost everything from Shiki-san’s venting from last night. Nobody came to room 202 after that till I showed up. I can’t understand what Ikusaba-san’s motives were. Why didn’t he live in a room he was paying rent for? Because of the earth bound spirit, Nanana-chan? If that was the case then he should have dissolved the contract and moved to the next room. But Ikusaba-san  didn’t do that. So there  must be a motive behind it. What could it be? I was thinking about things like that but that isn’t the thing that was making me curious the most. The thing that peaked my concern was Nanana-chan and Ikusaba-san’s relationship. Ikusaba-san’s curt attitude towards Nanana-chan and Nanana-chan calling him by his name and talking about him in somewhat a fond manner. What could have happened between the two who had met in 202? What happened there? 

It’s just irritating me.

The deeper I think about it, the more curious I become and the crazier I get. It’s so irritating! Really irritating! What is that Ikusaba Hiiyo to Nanana-chan!? What is he!? Imagine me in a situation where I’m biting a handkerchief while hidden behind a tree and screeching angrily while looking at Nanana-chan and Ikusaba-san standing in the sunset together. There is another reason behind my curiosity. That’s the hidden notebook inside the secret shelf in the toilet. It was the note left behind by Konjou Kasumi-san, the first president of the adventure club. The notebook was left behind for her kohai who were going to live in 202 after her. It tells us about how to interact with Nanana-chan. It’s something that helped me a lot. I was deluded that the message on that notebook was directed at me but now that I think about it, it is possible that the message wasn’t only directed at me. It was directed at everyone who would come to live in 202 after her and it could possibly be directed at Ikusaba-san.The last thing written on the note, 『 So, my kohai. Please save my close friend』might have been directed at Ikusaba-san from Konjou-san. At THAT Ikusaba-san. The one who was cold towards Nanana-chan, and made her sad. Ikusaba-san who seems to have some sort of complicated and significant relationship with Nanana-chan!

This keeps irritating me…..

All these thoughts keep repeating themself like an infinite loop and my mind is a mess. Aah I can’t do this anymore, I can’t think of anything. In times like these I need to reset my feelings and do something else. 

I have other problems to solve. 

  ｢I’m finally here, Tetsu.｣

  ｢Let’s go back, Tetsu-kun.｣

  ｢…..Wait a minute, Yama Jyuugo! Why is someone like you with Yun?｣

Tetsu-kun who was waiting for Yun at the entrance after the school had ended glared at me without giving me a chance to explain myself. 

  ｢It’s nothing special. We met by coincidence and she said she was going back with you, so we decided to take a detour.｣

  ｢Yama Jyuugo! Stop spewing nonsense. Why would I need to go with someone like you.｣

  ｢Don’t say something like that, Tetsu! It would be fun if we go together!｣ 

Tetsu-kun got scolded by Yun-chan. He put on an uncomfortable expression and said, ｢You’re right.｣ He nodded but he still seemed angry. 

We left the school and headed towards the nearby downtown. 

  ｢Come to think of it, you two are always together aren’t you? I saw you guys yesterday too.｣

I asked that and Yun-chan suddenly reclined, ｢Fufuun!｣

  ｢Truth to be told, Yama-senpai! I’ve received a certain order from my older sister!｣

She seemed weirdly excited and I was a bit surprised at what she said. 

  ｢O.. order? What kind of order?｣

  ｢According to my sister, Tetsu seems like a very good guy but in reality a bad person! Sister wants to tame him and turn Tetsu into a law abiding citizen! But Tetsu is bad so he pushes away her kindness and runs. So I got orders from sister to keep an eye on him so he doesn’t run away!｣

Yun-chan coughed proudly and stretched her cute chest. I looked at Tetsu-kun next to Yun-chan, he was thanking Yun-chan for taking care of him but his expression was awkward and tense. I somewhat realized there that Yun-chan was a puppet dancing on Batako-san’s stage believing her lies. 

  ｢I see, that’s amazing Yun-chan. ｣

I’m not petty enough to ruin the mood of a child being this happy. I’ll just watch over her with a warm gaze. Since it seems more fun if I keep quiet. 

  ｢Yeah, I’m a bit amazing Yama senpai! As long as Tetsu is in the third senior high, he is my henchman and I’m his supervisor!｣

Yun-chan sounded bossy and Tetsu-kun bowed down and said, ｢Please take care of me from now on.｣

I was smirking at their peaceful interaction. I asked something that had made me curious since the morning. 

  ｢Hey Tetsu-kun what is inside that thin and long black cloth that is rod shaped?｣

It seemed like he had that thing inside the cloth bag. 

  ｢You don’t need to worry about it, it’s for self-defense.｣

No, no, I’d be curious either way. Tetsu-kun was carrying a Japanese sword in the Tsukuyomi street unapologetically. There is definitely a katana inside it. Seems like he can’t relax without a weapon. 

  ｢Considering what happened yesterday, I need to have this when I am around Yun.｣

He seems really cautious but I don’t think that a Japanese sword is required when you live a normal life. Tetsu-kun really seems like an overprotective older brother. After we arrived downtown, we decided to go to an arcade that was nearby. 

  ｢Oh, I want to catch this!｣

As soon as we got inside the noisy arcade Yun-chan pounced at the UFO catcher near the entrance and started challenging it by herself. Why is a supervisor leaving the supervised and jumping at the game before seeing where they go? Thinking all that I looked at Yun-chan putting the coin in the game , ｢Tei!｣ 

Tetsu-kun standing next to me opened his mouth, ｢ And what do you want? Yama Jyuugo?｣

  ｢What do you mean by that?｣

  ｢Why did you make an effort to hang around with us, I want to know the motive behind that.｣

  ｢Nah, there isn’t any thought behind it.｣

  ｢I don’t like roundabout things.｣

Well then, it can’t be helped if you say that. There’s definitely a reason behind being with them. 

  ｢I need to apologize to you about something, Tetsu-kun…..｣
