Chapter 121
Dran summoned the Spirit King to attak Eksu, demonstrating the vast difference in their abilities, and clinched victory. At that very moment, Alexander and Caravis cheered from where they were watching the match in the rift between dimensions. Swiftly after, they glared at each other.
The brief instant after Dran’s victory was peaceful. Bahamut found no issue with this conclusion and left it as it was. The problem only arose slightly after Alexander and Caravis started praising Dran.
Alexander only commended Dran, though Caravis praised both Dran and Lenia at once. Faced with Caravis’s reaction, Alexander’s pettiness kicked in.
Despite the time Alexander had spent watching over Lenia, she indubitably found it hard to be completely fond of the daughter of the abominable Caravis. Moreover, the sight of Caravis elatedly praising Lenia unconsciously stirred Alexander’s desire to spite Caravis.
“Lenia-chan,” “Superb,” “Excellent,” “I knew it,” “I’m going to be wet,” and so on. As Caravis excitedly lauded Lenia, a string of strange descriptions flowed from her mouth as well. Alexander found the chance to interrupt.
「Hm, though this is only a very, very, very small part of Brother’s true capabilities, it sure feels pleasing and satisfying to demonstrate his might to all these ignorant folks on earth. Though, Lenia didn’t do as well as you said she would. Even though she trained for a short while with me, she ended up suffering her opponent’s attack like woodblock. The final attack was decent, but she still has a long way to go!」
Bahamut, who shared blood ties with Alexander, did not miss the slight consideration Alexander spared for Lenia. However, to Caravis, who would gladly set her eyes upon Lenia, breathe in Lenia, and even let Lenia crawl up her butthole or womb—though it was not as if Caravis ever gave birth to Lenia—Alexander’s words were overflowing with chagrin.
「Whaaaaaaat?! How dare you disparage, belittle, mock, and ridicule my super duper cute Lenia-chan?! Can you even call yourself her aunt?!」
Caravis, who had morphed into the form of the dancing traveler Ravi, was close to spewing steam from her head as she bared her teeth at Alexander menacingly.
Alexander was appalled that Caravis, the emblem of the evil gods whose name would stir loathing and repugnance, was furious at the criticism of someone else. Yet, Alexander maintained a placid expression.
「Who the heck is her aunt?! No matter what happens, I’ll never acknowledge you as my sister-in-law! Neither will I permit Lenia to call me her aunt!!」
「Shut up! Shut up! Shut up! Grow up and let yourself be called her aunt. Idiot, idiot, idiooot. Keep your unreasonable behavior in check!」
「Guaaaaagh!!!」
「What’s with that “guaaaaagh”?! Guaaagh! Guaaaagh! Guaaaagh!」
This childish squabble between Alexander and Caravis, two of the most exalted existences in the world, was a great contrast to their formidable powers. Hence, this conflict would no doubt cause a great inconvenience for many, a hassle would be hard to resolve.
In order to prevent matters from escalating beyond even his control, Bahamut raised his voice and broke the fight sternly.
「Alexander, Caravis, I won’t stop both of you from discussing about the match. However, I will have to stop you forcefully if you indulge in a foolish and violent quarrel. Once I do so, Dran will inevitably notice us even if we try to hide. In the event that you get carried away by your emotions and end up in a fight, Dran will be disdainful of you, and you may even lose the chance to watch the remaining matches. If you don’t want that to happen, then go somewhere else and do as you please.」
「Ugh, humph. I won’t tolerate any insult of Lenia-chan, but I’ll let you off this time on account of Bahamut. Farewell!」
Caravis, who Dran acknowledged for her quick wits, swiftly weighed the factors at hand. There was the threat of the stern Bahamut and Alexandar who had tagged along, as well as her own fear of being despised by Dragon. In no time, Caravis had turned her back to Bahamut and Alexander before sprinting off to the demon realm.
As Alexander watched Caravis disappearing into the distance, she yelled endlessly for Caravis never to show up before her ever again.
「Alexander, that’s enough. I don’t feel good watching my sister spouting such harsh words.」
「Yes, Brother Baha. Anyway, let’s zip over to where Brother is. Even though we can’t cheer him on in person, we can congratulate him, can’t we?」
Alexander’s hatred and repugnance toward Caravis had vanished in an instant. Instead, affection for her blood brother was overflowing. Yet, the tinge of iciness in Bahamut’s eyes spurred the seed of anxiety buried in Alexander’s heart to sprout.
「Oh? Brother Baha, what is it? Your expression is scaring me.」
「Alexander, it’s hard for me to acknowledge that you know how to use your powers and behave with restrain. I used to think that it was fine for you to descend onto earth, but I’ve changed my mind after witnessing your quarrel with Caravis.」
The terrifying expression on Bahamut’s face was coupled with his icy gaze and grim voice as he spoke. Alexander’s attitude immediately changed into one of a remorseful younger sister in the face of her stern elder brother. Caravis would no doubt burst into laughter if she heard what had just been uttered.
「Huh?!?!」
「I won’t go to the extent of forbidding you from descending to earth. However, you are not allowed to meet Dran until this Magic Tournament he is participating in is over. Caravis will try to head down if she finds the chance. Moreover, Mairahl, Keios, Aldeath, and others are also present. It’s unlikely that you will end up in a fight with Mairahl and the rest. However, if we’re caught in a three-way struggle, even the thought of the possible consequences is giving me a headache. Besides, this is a human competition. We shouldn’t even be showing up. We should not mingle with Dran’s human friends and acquaintances.」
「B-B-B-But you, Sister Levi, and Hype weren’t even their special training opponents!」
「Mm. I don’t plan of restricting just your interaction with Dran. I won’t meet Dran and the rest until the Magic Tournament is over as well. Alexander, I’m not saying this out of spite, but I can’t trust your temper no matter how much you swear right now. There’s no telling whether you’ll encounter Caravis on earth and end up in a fight. I won’t stop you from watching the matches, and neither will I hold you back from congratulating him after the Magic Tournament. Restrain yourself just for the duration of this tournament.」
Upon hearing Bahamut’s words and the tinge of chiding in them, tears welled up in Alexander’s eyes. She lowered her head and scrunched up the hem of her skirt in her hands. Bahamut had hit the nail on the head with his statements, leaving Alexander unable to refute a single word. However, this turn of events right after Alexander’s encounter with Caravis caused her heart to swirl with confusion.
As Bahamut watched Alexander’s despair, he started to feel as though he had been a little too harsh. The moment this thought entered his mind, Alexander lifted her head briefly, and she attempted to dash right past Bahamut. The tears in Alexander’s eyes were real, though she had used them to lower Bahamut’s guard and fool him into letting her escape to earth.
Nonetheless, Bahamut had seen through his younger sister’s shallow scheme. He clasped Alexander by the back of her neck with his left hand, eliciting a shirek from her.
「Eeeek!」
「Goodness. Such a rash escape really reflects your shallow thoughts, much to my disappointment. Or should I view this as your eagerness to meet Dran? We’re heading back to the dragon realm today. It’s useless to retort.」
「Huh????? No!!!!! I don’t want to! I want to talk to Brother! I want to praise him! Say that he’s awesome!」
「The Magic Tournament will end in a few days on earth. Meet him after that.」
Endless protests streamed out of Alexander’s mouth, followed by unabashed wails of misery. However, Bahamut’s tight hold on her did not loosen, and Alexander was brought back to the dragon realm as her outcries were hollered in vain.
