Return of the Fallen Volume 8 Chapter 53

Fera looked at the 20 Ancient beasts surrounding her and laughed.

“Heh, you know they can not kill me. With this small number, at best they can only slow me temporarily. This body may not be strong enough to last for too long against 7th stage beings but these dumb mutts of yours will be put down and fall.”

Berus knew this to be true which is why he was expecting King Azar’s own beasts but they were nowhere to be seen.

“Azar, where are your warriors? They should have been here by now.”

King Azar spread out his aura and it stretched for thousands of miles but to his surprise, he couldn’t sense Dreunz at all. Not only him but he couldn’t sense Dreunz’s daughter, nor any of the other elites he had left to find and kill Kazuki and his allies. He had no clue what had happened but for him to not be able to sense any of them could mean only one thing. They were all dead.

King Azar thought about the bright flash in the sky followed by the continent being impacted and split apart. He knew it was Dreunz for sure but somehow, using an attack that great still wasn’t enough for whatever he faced and he was killed somehow. King Azar then thought about the way the continent was repaired barely a moment after it started to split open.

He had felt that energy only a few times but he recognized Zetrazz’s power. Knowing how Titan’s act. King Azar misinterpreted what had happened and falsely concluded that Zetrazz must have killed Dreunz for his wanton destruction. From there it wasn’t hard for him to incorrectly assume that it was then Zetrazz who killed the rest of his elites out of anger.

“My warriors are not coming.”

“WHAT!”

King Azar sighed deeply.

*Haaa*

“It seems they angered Zetrazz and were killed. Fools.”

Berus thought this might be some type of ploy from Azar and he too stretched out his aura but he felt no other Ancient beasts besides those that were in this immediate facility as well as Etora a long-distance away. Etora was already dealing within another one of Fera’s fake bodies and had nothing to do with what was happening here.

Berus now knew that Azar wasn’t lying or trying to trick him but this left a nasty taste in his mouth. This would mean that it would be his people and his people alone who would have to deal with Fera. This then meant that his side would have more sacrifices in this battle and the time overall for dealing with Glacious would decrease drastically.

(Damn! Battle has yet to begin yet I’ve already been dealt a disadvantage.”

“Azar, you have disappointed me. Your so-called elites die before even making it to the real fight. You had better pull your weight because otherwise, this will be costly.”

King Azar bared his teeth and sharp fangs as he got in a fighting stance.

“I should be the one saying such words. I don’t know about you but while Glacious was hiding away in his tiny world, I have been busy growing my strength without rest. I didn’t come here to lose!”

Fera turned around and didn’t even look at the other Ancient beasts and solely focused on Glacious, Azar, and Berus.

“Interesting, they really are going to ignore me.”

As she said this, a bit of anger grew in the powerful beast behind her, for she was doing exactly what Glacious and the kings were, ignoring her opponents.

The three were separated by a mere one hundred feet. A distance they could all cover instantaneously, yet no one made the first move. Tensions rose but a weird silent atmosphere settled in.

“MOVE!!”

Fera grew annoyed seeing this and shouted so loud the clouds in the sky were torn through. Her shout drove movement into them like a starting pistol. The two kings were the first to rush forward. A single step caused the ground to break and quake, sending shockwaves hundreds of miles away. It was this single step from the two that brought them face to face with Glacious in a single bound.

In an instant Azar and Berus, both threw out crushing punches. Glacious though felt zero fear and responded in kind by catching their fists with his large open hands.

*BANG!*

The moment flesh hit flesh, a sound similar to steel mountains crashing into one another rang out.

All of the other Ancient beasts from the south were knocked backward from the sheer wind force of this single blow and nearly tumbled to the ground.

All of their hair stood up as their beast-like instinct told them they could never take such a blow or they would be reduced to shattered remains and nothing else.

Glacious caught these punches and his feet sunk partly in the ground as he was pushed back for several hundred feet. Berus smiled seeing that his attack was pushing Glacious backward but Azar knew things were not so simple. After all, it took the both of them to do this and they hadn’t even knocked Glacious off his feet. After another hundred feet or so, Glacious’s sliding feet dug into the ground with his toes and he put some strength in his legs and the three came to an abrupt and timely stop.

The three interlocked hands and it was a match of pure strength as they tried to push each other back.

“So this was your opening move. You two kings got scared of one vile shout and jumped right in.”

Berus and Azar were both using all of their strength in a single hand and were struggling but Berus still roared with fury.

“SHUT THE FUCK UP!”

Glacious smirked.

“For a moment I thought you had that temper of yours in check but it seems I was mistaken.”

Glacious’s muscles bulged and the thick veins pulsed with power as he squeezed both of their hands and began to overwhelm them. It was now their feet that started to sink in the ground. Together they were losing in pure raw strength against Glacious but they wouldn’t stand for this.

The both of them needn’t even exchange words. At the same time, they both used their free hands to grip the back of their hands thereby doubling their strength. They started to rise out of the dirt and were starting to overwhelm Glacious once again. At the same time, their aura’s clashed back and forth, trying to suppress the other but Glacious was about even on the aura front.

Even using both of their hands, at the midway point, Glacious inhaled deeply and ki began to rise up within him. His muscles filled with more strength and the three came to a deadlock.

With their strength put to the test, minute forces worked between the three. Pushing a centimeter here, a millimeter there. This small amount of give and take caused the air around the three to vibrate violently.

*CRack SnAp!*

Little explosions rang out as the air was vibrating and compressing at a hypersonic state. As these tiny explosions rang out, the ground around them began to receive this outpouring of kinetic energy. This caused another strange effect. The ground around their feet started to explode upward like mini geysers made from dirt and rock, causing the three to sink further into the ground.

The air compressing, vibrating erratically, and then exploding caused blades of wind to start flying outward in every direction. The other Ancient beast could feel tiny cuts spreading across their body, like a thousand little knives.

These Ancient beasts were left completely stunned. Just a competition of raw strength between 7th stage beings left the atmosphere chaotic and dangerous. These Ancient beasts had skin harder than steel yet the vibrating air coming from Glacious and the two kings were actually capable of cutting them.

Fera watched this scene play out and grew bored.

“I guess I should step in, otherwise, these men will be stuck like this all day.”

Her words snapped the other Beasts back to reality.

She was no ally of Glacious’s but neither was she of theirs. If she really stepped in, when the strength seemed equal, she could literally tip the balance and ruin everything. They had a job to do. They were the distraction, they were the delay factor. The longer they could delay Fera, the longer the two kings could push Glacious further toward the edge. They had to delay her as long as possible.

All at once, these 20 Ancient beasts pulled out weapons. Swords, axes spears, hammers, katars, and more.

They already had her surrounded, they just needed to attack. However, how could one just attack such a powerful being? Fera saw through this and decided to intimidate them even more.

“I’ll tell you this now but none of you can kill me, not truly kill me. This body is a fake. Once it’s no more, my soul will simply return back to my original body and after a short time, I will simply return and make a new one. During all of this, many of you will die. All of this just delay me a few moments here and there. Are you stupid animals really up for it?”

A hard swallow came from a large man.

“You are right but us southern beasts are prepared for death. You may kill us, but like master said, once he’s done with Glacious, he will personally cross the ocean and pay you a visit. Should we die like you say, our death will be repaid in full.”

The man who spoke held two long hook swords in his hands and he and the others prepared to fight with their lives on the line.

Fera smiled.

“Good resolve…but fighting here would anger me with annoyance. Come, I will lead you to your final resting place.”

Fera spoke up to here before she took off into the skies. The direction she headed, the other beasts took note of it right away and panicked.

“She’s heading for Etora! If she gets there before us and kills Etora, it will be us against two of her fake bodies instead of just one!”

All 20 Ancient beasts knew what this meant and without looking back they raced into the sky and gave chase.
