ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 423: Task Force Outsider Part 1
「You see, the current me is…… That’s right, the strongest there is……!」
「Yeah, yeah, sure thing! Whatever you say! Anyways! Way too much attention to the afterimage!」
「Affimation: Confirming the lack of dynamic vision. Postponing the end of the current training session.」
「Hey there, wait just a…… Whoa!? Scary, scary, scary, scary!!!」
It has been literally five seconds since we have met that thing, so we absolutely cannot underestimate its potential or the combat power it might possess……
I was currently wearing my veil of Black Thunder all over my body and Sigma was using her boosters to stay in tha air. After making some maneuvers in the air I looked towards Sammy-chan who was below us and who had crying Wimp riding on her back, and gave her a nod. It was time for us to discuss our strategy for now.
「We are going to go hunt us some delicious spiders and centipedes for a change of pace.」
「Right, so in the meantime I am going to sleep this one out. Do your best, guys……」
「Sorry to break this to you like that, but your training session is going to continue at the same time. You are currently sitting at the level eighty seven, so that cannot be all that satisfying, now is it? Let’s pump this number all the way to ninety, shall we?」
「Noooooo! I don’t wanna! I’m gonna die! I’m gonna die doing this for sure!!!」
「But MY Master, considering the ecology of this place and the characteristics of our enemies, wouldn’t it stand to reason that using Armillet Gargantuas as leveling materials may be potentially hazardous to the one trying to level up? We are running the risk of actually killing the one we want to train, and that would be the effect quite opposite to what we are trying to accomplish here.」
「Oh, come on! Think of it like an extracurricular lessons! This is going to be so much fun!」
Judging by their flavor text, the Fortress Spiders can use the pheromones from their bodies or some other trick like that in order to manipulate the smaller spider en masse. I guess that this mechanic is similar to the way in which some deep sea monsters use small fries to fight their battles for them, but that is actually beside the point for now.
In other words, if The Fortress Spiders are going to take those battles seriously, the smaller spiders will become an army of suicide bombers that is going to be virtually unstoppable. …… And no amount of EXP points or drop items would be able to compensate for the troubles such enemies would cause us.
「Okay, listen up, because it’s going to be really important here. As we all know, fighting those spiders or centipedes one by one is pretty much impossible. If we engage one of them, the others are going to start to join in, but on the other hand, I think we can use that to our advantage. After all, it’s their own comrades that gather their attention the most.」
The basis of Monster Versus Monster type of battle is to have two monsters duke things out between themselves. Now, Monster Versus Monster Versus Player is not possible unless the Player has the means of going undetectable for the monsters. Here it is even more important, since one the player gets caught in between the monster train of those behemoths of monster, they are pretty much done for.
「Listen well here, When the Armillets are under the control of the Faultless Gargantua, they are more vulnerable to enemy attacks because of one simple fact: they only pay attention to the target that the giant spider has in her sights. This should mean that once she picks a target, she’s going to assault it with everything she has, but anyone else aside from that target…… They are good to go.」
「I-I see, I think that I get it? Probably? H-Hmph! You make it sound so easy while it is not easy in the slightest!」
As I explained things and issued orders, Sigma nodded her head, while Wimp looked as though her whole world was about to collapse. However, she then looked up to me and said, although reluctantly……
「…… Roger that.」
I highly doubt that Wimp is even aware what kind of battlefield she is going to step into in just about a moment. This is going to be a total and complete warzone, with ranged attacks flying in every direction like stray bullets, and where death is going to be only one step away from us if we are not careful with our actions.
「Sammy-chan, should you ever feel like you are in danger or that you can’t do this anymore, feel free to turn away and evacuate immediately.」
With this, my love meter with Sammy-chan should go higher and higher, I am sure of it……
「Oh, and just so you know, you are being a part of this as well.」
「Wait, I am!?」
With all of that being said, it’s high time for some much needed briefing.
「Yes, why are you so surprised? There are some nice things that the Tsarberyl Crystals allow you to do, and I want you to be there just in case we need to try some of them out.」
Even though I now also had Imron to do my blacksmithing work, I could easily see Break chasing me with a hammer in her hand and shouting at me for needlessly increasing her workload with this. However, those materials are of top quality, and getting as much of them refined and turned into items is only going to benefit me in the future. Because of that, no amount of work needed to be done on them is going to be considered too much in my book.
I am a player, so of course I have accessories on me. Emul is an NPC, but I bought a few accessories for him to make him even stronger asset for my team. Then there is Sigma, who is also an NPC but possesses no accessories or even slots to equip those. But instead, she possesses something called “Extended Dual Drive Booster”, a sort of expansion function characteristic purely to the likes of her.
And then there is also Sammy-chan. I don’t know if she is actually an NPC or a mb monster, but if it was the latter, then there is actually nothing I could do to make her stronger no matter what I try here.
「And what’s that supposed to be?」
「You see, those are the current raw materials of the Tsarberyl Emperor Scorpion.」
「Say what now!?」
After many verifications I managed to deduce that she was most probably a Unique Monster (although it’s only a speculation on my end) and she is also judged as an NPC, because you can add her to the party no problem.
If so, I will give her the accessories I made just in case something like that could happen. Tsarberil Crystal…… Or rather, the minerals associated with the crystal group scorpion series are common to the accumulation of magical power.
Nonetheless, the items using Tsarberil Emperor Scorpion’s parts and Crystal Crown itself have many different uses and offer some truly interesting effects. Sadly, we are not going to be using anything too fancy this time around, but what can you do, right?
「Now, about our actual strategy. This time around we are going to try and interfere withFaultless Gargantua and try it duke things out with the Centipedes. I will try to get on top of Gargantua directly, while Emul and Sigma are going to support me. With the three of us combining our efforts, we should be able to defeat the Gargantua with as little trouble as possible.」
We also want to make sure that Sammy-chan is going to stay safe here. Worst case scenario we will have her use her stealth cammo, grab Wimp and get the hell out of here before she is going to get hurt.
「Alright, so let’s get this whole operation started!」
