Return of the Fallen Volume 10 Chapter 76

Tsura was annoyed and walked over and began pinching Danny’s arm multiple times. Danny winced in pain and at first, he didn’t understand why Tsura was acting this way until he recalled what he had just done. Only now realizing that reaching in between Alutra’s tits was rather inappropriate.

A dawning expression and Tsura finally stopped pinching him.

“Do you now know what you did? Apologize.”

Danny quickly put the little monkey hamster down before apologizing to Alutra.

“Sorry, I was too focused on the little monkey’s strange ability, I shouldn’t have done that.”

Alutra shrugged.

“It happens but next time you should take me to dinner first, hehe. Also, there’s someone else you should probably apologize to.”

Danny didn’t care about Alutra’s teasing words, he was just glad she accepted his apology. What did confuse him however was the fact that she mentioned he needed to apologize to someone else. Once again he was lost before Tsura started pinching him again, a slight tinge of red filled her cheeks.

(She’s blushing or she’s angry. Ah, that’s right, of course, she would be upset.)

“Tsura, I…I didn’t mean to. Please don’t be mad.”

Tsura puffed her cheeks almost as if she were an upset child. It was easy to see where Mei got this from.

“Don’t do it again. I love that focused side of yours but you need to be aware of your surroundings. Those are not for you to touch ever. Only mi…

Tsura cut her words short as she started to feel a bit embarrassed. Danny continued to apologize and the two went to talk somewhere else. Mei wanted to follow them but Lamia stopped her.

“Those two need to talk alone Mei Mei.”

Mei pouted a little but she was ok in the end. At the same time, Kazuki and the others were more curious about what Danny said.

“Alutra, Danny’s question, is this thing a God? Earlier during our battle, the smoke creature wanted to take this little pipsqueak and it even mentioned something about it having divine energy. There was no time to confirm that but sensing it now, there is clearly a sliver of dense energy hidden deep within this tiny thing. The energy is so small that it was hard to notice but after eating that soul weapon, the power seems to have grown slightly.”

To Kauzki’s question, Alutra could only shrug once more.

“Honestly I don’t know. This little cutie shouldn’t be. I mean if it was there would be no reason for it to call out for help. When I found the little baby, he was crying on a desolate world all by himself. That doesn’t sound like a God to me.”

Hearing this, the ladies except for Triska became sad and they all began to bunch up close to the tiny sleeping furball as if to protect and love it endlessly.

“It was capable of calling out to you through the mind, which already requires a powerful mind. Not only that it consumed a soul weapon and a soul fragment. You mentioned earlier that taking in divine energy from a being that is dead is like having poison corrode your soul. How long before one would see such results from that.”

“When divine energy has been coated with death, that power eats away at one’s soul. The pain is atrocious and it would be obvious immediately. When your soul is being destroyed, there is no pain, no agony that is worse. Not in this Realm, not in any other.”

Kazuki could conclude then that the little monkey was not suffering soul corrosion which means that the divine energy from a dead enemy had no negative effect. Actually, since Kazuki could no clearly feel divine energy within the little creature after eating the soul weapon, it led him to believe that there was actually a benefit for the creature instead.

“Amazing. I thought the Vazul technique was one of a kind but even I cannot devour a soul weapon, let alone divine energy. Just what is this creature? How did I not sense it before? It’s like it just appeared from out of nowhere. One moment it didn’t exist and the very next it was in this Realm.”

Detra as well didn’t understand where it had come from.

“I felt no waves, sensed no outside energy entering ours. It was either always here or a God left it. As for it being a God…How can a child, no a baby be a God? It’s inconceivable.”

Alutra became happy hearing this. It was as if someone were directly praising her child. She grabbed her little monkey hamster and gently embraced it. When she did this, the tiny furball snuggled on her and released tiyn coos.

Asuna released an unintentional eee noise as she found the cuteness overwhelming.

Everyone gave her a look that said they couldn’t believe that sound had come from her. Maybe Nunully or Mei would make something like that but not from Asuna.

Asuna’s face brightened a few shades red before she calmed down.

Kazuki found it adorable himself and Nunully patted Asuna’s head in understanding. Asuna’s elf-like ears twitched slightly before they lowered a tiny bit from acceptance and embarrassment.

Kazuki looked over the tiny creature.

(Since I can’t tell what it is nor where it came from, I should have a look at its soul. Through it, I’ll be able to see all of its memories and this mystery will be solved once and for all.)

Kazuki sent out a small strand of aura and he was about to send it into the small creature when Alutra blocked his aura with her own.

“Alutra…”

Alutra shook her head.

“Kazuki, invading someone’s soul like that, is beyond intimate. This small child is not suspicious. He’s a baby, abandoned and alone. There’s no need to look into him.”

“Alutra, how can we even be so sure that this child was abandoned. Who would simply leave behind something so powerful to die on a wasted world. For all we know, it was an accident, and this things parents are looking for it. If I take a look, we’ll know right away and this can be settled once and for all.”

Alutra though didn’t agree and denied him once more.

“No, I am looking after him. Invading an unknown creature’s mind, you don’t even know if he can handle your aura prodding and searching through his soul. You could easily damage his soul and break his mind if you’re not careful. I won’t allow it. There are no such things as accidents when one is a God, I should know. When you are a God you do everything with purpose. I am looking after this baby from now on and no one will enter his soul world without my permission. And by the way, he is not that thing or this thing. I’ve decided to name him.”

Alutra held the little furball up and examined him before declaring.

“Kosaru. Yes, my small baby monkey is Kosaru.”

Alutra gently rubbed Kosaru’s furry head with a big smile.

Once more the tiny furball was surrounded by ladies as they called out to the little sleeping hamster monkey.

Kazuki on the other hand had a cold look on his face. He didn’t know where this creature came from and there were far too many suspicious things surrounding it. The fact that the others didn’t really seem to care about its ability to eat an entire soul weapon with divine energy and a soul within was incredibly alarming to him. He wondered if the monkey was releasing some unusual or strange type of power to control them but he couldn’t sense anything unusual and found the notion idiotic.

That was only part of it though. He had a meaningful conversation with Alutra recently and she said she would back him up no matter what but already she was resisting him. She even questioned his ability when it came to exploring one’s soul. He had already looked into thousands of souls and had never harmed anyone. He had even entered thousands of souls with the person completely unaware of him entering in the first place.

(For her to immediately take in some unknown foreign entity just because it’s a child. I will have to rethink some things.)

Kazuki wasn’t necessarily doubting Alutra’s intentions but he was paying attention. He realized that he knew frighteningly little about his aunt and he wondered if he let her in too soon. He thought because he shared similar ideas about Orberus, she could be trusted but just because you agree on one thing with someone does not mean you will see eye to eye on others.

Kazuki sighed inwardly.

(This is paranoia at its finest.)

Kazuki began circulating his ki through his mind and to his heart to calm him.

(Not everyone is an enemy, not everyone is out to get me. She receives no benefit for betraying me and instead it is I who get things. I must leave falsehoods at the door and continue to think and act with logic and reason.)

After circulating his ki a few times, Kazuki felt better but once more he found two sides within him wrestling for control. One grounded him, and the other unleashed chaos. He had to balance these things if he was to keep a sound mind.
