「Since the ones who have sealed me away were humans, it is only natural that the ones to eventually break the seal on my prison and setting me free should also be human…… Oh my, how funny it is! How amusing! How ironic! And to think that I would be able to meet such interesting little creatures right after being set free…… Fufufu, really now, just how lucky I can be, I wonder?」

「You…… Who the hell are you?」

Arios could barely muster up the strength to ask that question.

And with each and every single word that he was saying, it felt as though his throat was tingling and burning.

Was it because of the overwhelming menacing pressure that this girl was giving off? Or was it something else entirely?

「Who, me? I, hm…… I guess that you can say that I am that kind of person?」

The girl said while smiling brightly.

And then…… there was a change that happened to her body.

There were huge wings that all of a sudden grew out of the girl’s back.

There were eight large wings in total, each and every single one of them nearly as tall as the girl’s body.

They all spread out in the air and then folded, covering the girl’s entire figure.

「…… A-A Celestial Tribe……!? No way, does that mean that……!?」

…… There was once a powerful species called the Celestial Tribe that roamed free across the world.

Their name was derived from the Celestial beings known as Angels.

They were named as such because they were a humanoid race with angelic wings on their backs.

When it comes to the physical abilities of the Celestial Tribe, they could be compared to that of the Cat Spirit Tribe.

And when it comes to the magic abilities of the Celestial Tribe, they were on par with that of the Spirit Tribe.

They excelled in both physical power and magic power in every possible way, and were said to be the strongest Tribe out there out of all Ultimate Species.

It is said that the more wings they had on their back, the stronger their abilities were.

Across all known written records there was a mention of a Celestial Tribe member who happened to have up to ten wings.

Their power was such that it defied common sense in every possible shape and form, and they were able to single handedly cause events and occurrences that could be classified as natural disaster level.

And although the Celestial Tribe had wielded such tremendous power in their hands, one day, they suddenly disappeared from the face of the earth.

But they did not perish, nor did they hide in the depths of the countryside and away from civilization like the Cat Spirit Tribe did.

It was exactly that: they simply vanished into thin air, as if they did not exist in the first place.

As for the cause of that mysterious disappearance, it was still something that was left largely unknown.

According to one popular theory, the Celestial Tribe was simply unable to adapt to the rapidly changing environment and perished as a result.

Another theory said that since the Celestial Tribe were the messengers of the Gods, because they had fulfilled its duty they were allowed to return to the Heavens.

Various theories have been put forward, each even wilder than the previous one..

「You…… Are you really a member of the Celestial Tribe……?」

Arios murmured those words in disbelief under his nose.

The Celestial Tribe girl only cocked her head in confusion, but then she smiled at Arios in a bright way.

「Why, yes, that’s right.」

「No, that’s nonsense. Why would a member of the Celestial Tribe be here out of all places? Away from civilization and people……?」

「Why would you ask me that? Didn’t you already know? You said it yourself. Isn’t that the reason as to why you decided to set me free?」

「M-Me? What do you mean by that……?」

「Yes, yes, that’s right. For you see, I have been sealed away inside of that shrine for the longest time now.」

「…… Are you perhaps that disaster or misfortune or bad luck that the local villagers were talking about?」

「Fufufu, that’s a terrible way to call someone, you know? The only disaster here was the fact that I was captured and sealed away like that. But then again…… From the perspective of you humans, calling me a calamity might not actually be all that wrong.」

The girl laughed again.

There was something fundamentally wrong about that smile of hers. It was disturbing and cruel, like that of a small child who was playing around with small insects by squashing and killing them.

Seeing that girl smile in such a way, Arios felt a chill running up and down his spine.

「Fufufu, ufufufu…… Ahh, it’s been such a long time since I was last able to roam free in this world. Isn’t it a wonderful feeling? It’s so…… liberating. And thanks to you, I will be able to play around with some new human toys once more. And this time around…… Fufufu, I will make extra sure to have lots and lots of fun with them.」

If one was to only hear her words without looking at her expression, they would be no different from those uttered by an innocent and small child.

However, the words of the Celestial Tribe girl were filled with plenty of malice.

They were so dark and vile that they seemed to possess the condensed malice of all the world, to the point that Arios and his Party were barely able to retain their sanity here.

As for the hired Adventurer, he has long since fainted.

「Originally, I would have liked to play with you guys for a while as a reward for setting me free……」

「…… Are you going to fight us?」

「No. No, no, no, I won’t do that. I don’t want to do that, but I’m a person who always makes it my utmost priority to pay back the debts of gratitude.　You guys have freed me so I will refrain from playing with you and breaking you apart.」

「…… That’s a relief.」

「And besides…… I can sense that there are plenty of other people around for me to play with later. Fufufu, it’s going to be so much fun trying out all those different methods of playing with them! It’s so very exciting. I can’t wait!」

The Celestial Triber girl smiled once more in a nasty and disturbing way.

It was the smile of a person who has clearly gone mad.

And while she was still laughing happily and innocently……

Then, with a graceful gesture, she bowed down to Arios and his Party.

「Oh well, I guess I should be taking my leave now. Farewell.」

「…… Wait a moment.」

「I want to talk to you some more. I won’t take up too much of your time and I think it would be a really fun story for you to hear…… What do you think?」

「Oh my, oh my. A human wanting to talk to me about something after such a long time of solitude…… Okay, let’s hear it. I’m going to listen to your story. So, what’s your name, human?

「My name is Arios.」

「And I am Iris. You can call me the Worst of the Ultimate Species, if that pleases you. Fufufu♪」
