Beast Tamer Who Got Kicked Out From the Hero’s Party Chapter 128 Part 1

CHAPTER 128: TO THE SOUTH PART 1

After that brief introduction, we were officially assigned to the Investigation Team.

The official purpose of our team was to investigate the Devil’s background as well as its purpose.

We were to try and uncover as much intel on it as possible, and if luck would be on our side, we were to discover if it had any weaknesses.

At the same time, we were also entrusted with eventual negotiation duty.

Because the Guild was still holding onto the notion that the Devil was a being of high intelligence, something with which they could possibly negotiate.

Now, it was unclear whether negotiations could come to pass with a creature that was said to have destroyed an entire village over the course of a single night, and whether there was actually any need to do so……

But still, the Guild would rather want to avoid having to fight against the Devil if they could help it.

Well, truth to be told, at least half of the reason for that was most probably to buy ourselves some much needed time.

Since the Assault Team will be working together with the Knights Order, it will inevitably take some time for them to form up and move out.

In the meantime, we would find out what they are going to be up against while we would negotiate with the Devil to buy them precious time.

Now, if the negotiations were going to be a success, that would be all fine.

And in case they would break up, we would still need to buy as much time as we possibly could for the Assault Team, so that they would strike at the Devil when it would be preferably weakened.

At least that was the plan that we were going for.

And so, once we had heard the full explanation, we went back home for the time being.

After explaining the current situation and the details of the Emergency Request to those who were staying at home, they all agreed to go through with that plan and were fully on board with it.

Once again, my dear companions turned out to be a truly dependable group of people.

The rest of the day was spent on making necessary preparations for the incoming outing.

And then on the next day.

[Yo!]

[Good morning.]

As we moved to the south gate of the city, we saw Ax and Cell already waiting for us there.

[Sorry, did we keep you waiting?]

[No, don’t worry about it. Well, even if we actually had to wait for a little bit, it’s not like we would exactly mind it. I mean, as long as I can spend my time fooling around with Cell, then everything’s okay in my…… ABUEAGH!?]

[Alright, you stop right there this instant. Yu’re talking nonsense again.]

With a blank expression on her face, Cell slammed an elbow into Ax’s stomach without a moment of hesitation.

What a violent relationship those two have……

[Your group sure is large.]

Cell looked at our group as she said that, looking and sounding a little bit surprised.

[It’s been a while since yesterday, Kanade-san. As for the others, you are…… Umm……]

[I’m Tania! Humph, as you can see, I’m a proud member of the Dragon Tribe!]

[Sora is called Sora. Since we are going to be members of the same team, I think it’s okay to let you know that I am a member of the Spirit Tribe.]

[And I’m Luna! Although we usually keep our wings stowed away and hide our true identities.]

[I’m…… Nina……]

Everyone from my Party introduced themselves briefly.

And then……

[Oh, so you guys are the rumored Purple Lighting, huh? I have heard quite a lot about you guys! Your auras are both really strong! You must be really dependable fellows, then! Oh wow, silly me! Just a little bit more and I would have forgotten to introduce myself there. I’m Tina. Nice to meet you guys, and all that jazz!]

[…… Huh? I’m wondering, am I actually dreaming right now? Because as I see it, it looks like the kettle is talking……]

[Cell, I don’t think that you are dreaming. Because I’m seeing the exact same scene.]

[Well, that makes it even more likely that this is a dream.]

[What do you mean by that!?]

Both Ax and Cell seemed to be extremely confused at the current moment.

I mean, I can hardly blame them for feeling that way.

After all, they were both hearing Tina’s voice, but instead of Tina herself it was coming from the kettle that was resting right on top of Kanade’s head.

[Umm…… How should I even start explaining this…… Well, to put it simply, Tina is a ghost.]

[A ghost…….?]

[Oh my, ‘I’m surprised you even have people like that in your Party. But how come I’m hearing voices coming from the kettle?]

[Since Tina is a ghost, she cannot go outside freely during daytime, wouldn’t you agree? But if that was the case, then she wouldn’t be able to accompany us on our trip and she would have to stay home all the time. I wasn’t sure about that, so I tried to find a way to get her to go with us. And then……]

[I can possess any person or object that I want, and it seems that while I am actually possessing something or someone, I can bypass the restriction and go outside even in broad daylight. So, for the time being I am actually playing the role of a haunted kettle!]

[I-I see…… T-That’s certainly…… certainly something…… I guess?]

[I don’t actually know what to say to that, but it’s surely one hell of an amazing accomplishment.]

It would seem that the shock of this sudden revelation was so great that their vocabulary even managed to shrink by quite a huge margin.

Aside from Ax, Cell also seemed to be deeply shocked to hear about Tina.

I mean, I can hardly blame them for acting like that. After all, it was pretty shocking of a sight.

When I saw it for the first time this morning, I couldn’t speak properly for a while as well……

[Okay, I understand the part about the talking kettle actually holding Tina-san inside, but…… Kanade-san, why are you carrying that kettle on top of your head like that?]

[It’s because she can see better this way!]

Kanade replied with a smile on her face.

It seems that while Tina is possessing something or someone, she is adapting to the physical traits of the object or body of the one she is possessing.

So in other words, at the current moment her point of view was the same as that of the kettle that she was possessing.

That’s why Kanade decided to carry the kettle on top of his head, thinking that a higher place would feel better for Tina and resemble her usual point of view.

……..When I explained that, the two of them got even weirder and weirder looks on their faces.

[Hm? What’s wrong?]

[No, it’s just that…… There’s a lot more to this world that I don’t know…… And just now it made me realize just how small I really am.]
