Return of the Fallen Volume 11 Chapter 145
A few days had now passed. Kazuki’s pockets were once again empty. From over 7 trillion Divine Crystals to a few thousand, the difference was drastic, to say the least. There were eyes everywhere in Gauldriss and many kept watch over Kazuki and the others.
Viz of course found this distasteful but things were developing so rapidly that he could not block everyone who wished to peak. Some were even testing his strength, poking, and prodding, growing more and more bold. Viz wanted to deal with these assholes upfront but Kazuki already had plans set in place. Kazuki managed to convince Viz to not retaliate. This in itself caused outsiders to be shocked and they became even more curious. Again, it was quiet on Kazuki’s side and no one knew what he was up to.
To fight back now could give too many clues away. Many had seen what Kazuki had purchased over these few days and it only left them confused. Crystals containing vast amounts of information. For days Kazuki and Marty would disappear into one of his tiny worlds and would not come out for hours. Meanwhile, Mei, kosaru, Samuel, and the slaves would train and spar with one another every single day.
At night, Kazuki and Arc would help train Mei and Kosaru further. Kazuki helped Mei with her magic while Arc helped Kosaru develop his senses. The boy was too strange and neither knew how far he could really go. In the past, he had eaten a Divine soul weapon and he already had remnants of Divine energy inside and neither knew why nor how. Kosaru also managed to teleport away to safety at the exact moment Sephra caused the massive explosion that killed almost everyone Kazuki cared about. To survive that, the boy was incredibly tough. Even if he didn’t get the direct blast he received a part of that explosion and lived. To top it all off, Kosaru could even smell Origin energy from Realms away.
His gifts were many and Kazuki and Arc both wished to develop them further. Kazuki and Marty worked in his tiny world during the day and then he and Arc trained the children after that. There was no rest for anyone. Things went on like this for almost a month. Gauldriss city grew quieter and quieter as people stayed in mostly. Beneath the surface of this eerily quiet city was a tension so palpable it could snap and sweep the entire city up with it.
Plans and plots were formed all over. Factions came together here or there and unbelievably some even split under these strenuous circumstances. Everyone big and small who were readying themselves for what was to come, pulled their forces as they waited. What they were waiting for, some did not know but they knew they would know when they saw it.
a weird atmosphere clouded the entire city. For those that had nothing to do with any of this were terrified at what was to come. Everyone knew the rumors. A big storm was coming, one that once came would deliver terrible and terrifying consequences to those that lost and even the ordinary folk who simply wished to live their lives. Once the expert craftsman was captured, it would not simply be over. A battle that would decide the new ownership of not just Gauldriss city but all four great cities would take place.
Whoever enslaved the expert craftsmen, basically could create infinite wealth with the Infinity Blades they sold. With such riches, the owner could buy whatever forces they wished and could take over completely with said forces. Those that didn’t submit would be cut off from getting their hands on the Infinity Blades and therefore would be put at a great disadvantage to all of their peers. A weapon that could put many on near equal footing with a Demigod…That was not something they could miss out on.
With this type of tactic, whoever owned the expert craftsman, could ice out any and all competition. Many of the Gods were aware of this but did not care too much about the power aspect. After all, even with an Infinity Blade, it would still be nothing compared to their own power and skill. No, what they cared about was the near-limitless wealth and whether or not their foes got their hands on it.
Gods were stepping in to make sure their enemies did not get their hands on this future wealth. A person with that many Divine Crystals could have massive and rapid growth in their own power. This was too tempting and too dangerous to just leave alone to the lesser, weaker beings.
A few more weeks of this deep tension passed when it finally happened. A stranger arrived at one of the gates of the city. The traffic going in and out of the city had come to a standstill so when this stranger appeared, it garnered everyone’s attention.
This lone figure felt something was off. Every street was quiet, every ally empty. Even though it was empty, this figure could feel thousands upon thousands of eyes all over him. It made it difficult to breathe but there was nothing he could do as there were Gods watching him as well.
Many wanted to attack this stranger out right and gather whatever information he had but at the same time, they knew if they did that it could easily start a war in the middle of the city. Anyone that even dared approach him would draw the ire of not just all of the Demigods in the city but every God as well. If a single person approached this stranger, everyone else would surely attack that person so that he or she does not gain an advantage over the others.
Still, this did not mean they would do nothing.
Several Gods scanned over this stranger’s body. They could not look into his soul world without causing trouble but they could freely look over his body for clues. They quickly located a ring on his finger and all at once the Gods in this city sank a fragment of consciousness into the ring and took a peak inside.
This stranger could not stop a single one of them nor would he dare try.
The moment this took place, the city seemed to come alive all at once. Gods one after another rushed out of the city before the sky outside of the city began to fill with Vajra ships. These Gods did not hesitate. After finding out what they knew from inside the ring, they hopped aboard their ships before they disappeared in a trail of radiant light as their ships took off at unbelievable speeds.
Not just these Gods but the Factions under these Gods and others not affiliated with these Factions all made their way outside of the city. Though their leaving was funny compared to the Gods. There were still rules. Even though the Gods flew out of the city, these people could not even run in the streets. This led to a hilarious sight as these powerful beings had to speedwalk as they left the city.
To see these beings that could collapse and shatter a Lower Realm with a wave of the hand waddle or rush while walking, Kazuki and the others couldn’t help but laugh as they noticed this.
The stranger saw these people pass him like he was nothing. He was glad though as it meant no trouble for him. He quickly made his way, at first toward Samuel’s old shop but before he got there Samuel spoke in his mind and told him where to come.
As many people finally exited the city, just like the Gods from moments before, several Vajra ships filled the sky. It wasn’t a great number of them as these ships were beyond expensive but at the same time, one did not need too many of them as you could fit a large group on board.
One after another these ships disappeared over the horizon.
Some though found the situation odd as they noticed that Kazuki and his group had yet to leave. If his group wasn’t leaving just yet, did that mean they gave up at the start or maybe they knew something that others did not? These were the thoughts of a few clever folks. Still, even if they knew, it did not mean their Factions would listen to them and hear them out.
A few Gods that were not stupid remained and watched from the sidelines. They as well had looked into the stranger’s ring and had found a clue but the clue was simply a location. This to them was way too obvious and was not something a so-called expert would do. They felt something was off and decided to wait and see what would happen next. Besides even if they left a little later it would not necessarily be a bad thing. By the time they arrive, the battle could very well be in the middle. Would that not be a perfect time and opportunity to come and sweep out the trash? This was the thought process many of them shared and so they waited and watched with unwavering eyes.
