Just as Mefius reached out for Kazuki and the earlier explosion reached the pair, suddenly, a pillar of golden flames fell from the sky and struck the two.

He did not know when he lost consciousness nor when he once again became self-aware. It was as if a wave had washed over him and he came to.
He could see nothing around him as he floated in a world of white. He was surrounded by nothing and he did not know where he was nor how he came to be in this odd place.
