CHAPTER 178: MORE ALLIES

I saw Millie-chan, the same timid and shy Millie-chan from the guild walk towards us with head held high. She was wearing a dark green dress and her hair was put up in a loose bun. I had no idea she can look this charming. And the one accompanying her was Nino-san. Just what were they doing here?

The King was stunned. The crowd was excited. I was confused and the Archduke looked unhappy. AS she walked up, she stood next to me and it was basically confirmed that Princess Luana would not be my witness.

“Pardon my rudeness, but I am not aware of your origin. The Wind Tribe? Is it from Vilikis by any chance?”

“Oh not, not by any means Your Majesty. I am from Boru Island, we are autonomous, but you may have ruled over that territory some six hundred years or so. If you have any doubts about it feel free to ask that man over there, he should know about it.”

Boru Island? I haven’t heard about it, but that is not such a surprise since I was here only for a short while. But why was she working at the guild if she was a High Priestess.

“I know about it. The monsters have overrun all the human establishments and it was proclaimed too dangerous to live there. I had no idea there were people living there still to this day. Who can vouch for your claim?”

No wonder I didn’t know about it. Millie-chan you’re a savior. I want to kiss you right now, but I feel that will make Nino-san mad. I saw her look at the Archduke, or better say stare at him forcefully until he answered.

“I can vouch for her, she is who she claims to be. Boru does have inhabitants there and she, a High Priestess of her clan is considered nobility. Her partner too. I am just worried about how they got into this party. I didn’t expect that just anyone can waltz in here.”

Millie-chan simply showed her guild card. It was white as marble. I know about this card, pretty much every adventurer dreams about gaining this card. The one possessing this card is an SS-ranked adventurer, someone legendary even among highest ranked adventurers. Just by showing that card she has free pass to every single place, even the King’s bedroom if she wanted to. But how can she possess one, as far as I know it can only be issued with the agreement of most of guild masters. Also what happened to the timid Millie-chan I knew?

“Very well, dear guests, I present you the witnesses. Please give them a round of applause.”

With the commotion over the party could continue. I had so many questions for her, but she mouthed later and went with Nino-san. I was swept with more nobles looking to look to talk to me.

“Naoko dear care to spare some words with me? I need to ask you something. Sneak away from Vitou for a bit and meet me.”

The Queen passed by and gently whispered this to me. I saw her going to the terrace. I found it odd that she wanted to talk alone. I looked around and saw Vitou with the Archduke talking to some nobles, but kept on glancing towards me.
“Vitou-sama, please excuse me, I must powder my nose.”

He watched me go towards the inner hall where the ladies room was. I saw him relax and the moment he looked away I made sure to use [Blink] to get to the terrace where the Queen was waiting for me alone.

“That was quite quick, come there is something I must know. You are a Dragon’s bride, aren’t you? Did you marry my brother willingly or were your tricked? You see, us dragons tend to be quite possessive creatures.”

What?! What’s with this bomb that she just dropped on me? How does she expect me to react to this? She’s a dragon, a dragon like Fulgy? Also brother?

“Your Majesty, how did you know?”

“I knew from the moment I saw you. Also brother arrived just ahead of you and bragged about he finally found his destiny. Also, as you are mostly likely aware all dragons have good impression towards you.”

Oh, it totally slipped my mind.

“He tricked me of course, but I don’t hate him. Unlike certain someone he can actually behave. I am honored that you shared this secret with me.”

I don’t think the public would take this nicely if it is found out that their Queen is not human. I don’t think she will meet with a good end in that scenario.

“I thought as much, after all we will do anything to make sure to keep our destinies close. Now, tell me, did you know that Erik captured me and forced me to marry him. I don’t know how, but he knew about Dragon’s beloved status and forcefully took that title for him. I cannot feel anger for him, but what he did to me I don’t want any other girl to experience.”

What the hell is wrong with that? That sounds to me like outright enslavement and abuse. Poor Queen, to have experienced all that. Also, I don’t know what is she doing regarding the issue of not being forced, but it was definitely not working. Otherwise I would not be forced into this marriage.

“I’m sorry to hear all that, but may I say that your effort is being for naught I’m afraid. Or at least it is not valued enough.”

“What do you mean? Wait… oh no… your dress, the behavior at the castle, the ignoring. How couldn’t I see it before? It seems that I have something to talk to my husband later on. Naoko-chan, do tell me what exactly happened from the moment you met Vitou?”

Oh, she was angry. I noticed it with Fulgy as well, but when under strong emotion their natural human form would start showing flaws. And right now the Queen’s eyes were unnaturally green and having slits, her nails were almost claws and there were scales showing on her face and hands.

“I would be happy to do so Your Majesty. It all began the day….”

I told her every little thing that happened without bothering to spare any detail on how I felt the entire time. She needs to become my ally. Since we were talking for a bit longer I also paid extra attention to the hall, but it would seem that nobody was worried quite yet.

I was finished with my story, but the Queen was not calming down. She must have really empathized with me. At least I can count on her to stand on my side in this situation.

“Excuse me Naoko dear, it would appear that I need a moment alone. Don’t worry, I will be your ally. As much as I’d like Vitou to find a girl like you, I don’t want to see another broken girl that will suffer for the rest of her life.”

The Queen left and I was left alone on the terrace. The cool spring breeze felt extremely refreshing and I didn’t want to return to the main hall quite yet.
