Glacious said this with a casual tone and sat down at the head of the long dining table.

A large golem made from stone stood at his side. Towering over even Glacious, it took a napkin and gently placed it in his lap. Next, it opened a platter of food and spoke with a deep rumbling voice as though rocks were being ground.

“Mas…ter, break…fast…serrrrrved.”

Glacious nodded and the large golem slowly turned and walked out. Glacious cut into his food and was about to take a bite when he felt everyone’s gaze and looked up.

“What is it? Is the food not to your liking?”

Asuna sobered up relatively quickly and asked what everyone was thinking.

“You just said for Garn to return us home is impossible, why would you say that?”

“Hmm, why wouldn’t I correct that. Garn can’t return you to your world, such a thing just can’t happen.”

Kimi shook and stood up quickly, knocking her plate of food off the table. Thankfully Sam had quick reflexes and caught everything, placing it back on the table safely.

Kimi clutched her chest in anger, sadness, and confusion.

“You! you’re lying!”

Etora finally tore his head away from his food and his fist hammered on top of the table.

*BANG*

A large crack spread through the entire table. Luckily Etora held back, otherwise, the table would be dust. Still, his anger was evident and with a dangerous scowl, he shouted at Kimi.

“WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY, LITTLE MISSY!”

Kimi felt a terrifying aura and her whole body suddenly became heavy and she found it difficult to breathe. Her legs grew weak in an instant and her knees buckled causing her to fall backward. Sam jumped up and caught her and glared back at Etora but Etora wasn’t backing down and Sam felt the same pressure as Kimi. He didn’t even last a second and he too fell down to one knee.

Lamia as well sneered at Kimi.

“You dare call big brother a liar. Glacious next to my late husband, there’s no one else in this world more honest. Apologize you little brat.”

Lamia spoke coldly and although she was just a regular human with no power whatsoever, her tone and glare sent shivers down Kimi’s back.

The room filled with silence and no one knew what to say or do. Even Shin who was usually talented at defusing tension with a dumb joke nearly choked on his food because he was so nervous. Finally Glacious let out a long sigh.

*Haaa*

“Little brother, little sis, that’s enough. I believe she understands now.”

Etora wanted to say something more but Glacious pointed at the large crack in his fine table and Etora sat back down and lowered his gaze. Clasping his hands together he apologized.

“Big bro I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to break more of your stuff. I…I just got so angry…for you of course. I just can’t stand it when people accuse you of lying. Especially those who know nothing of the world.”

“It’s fine already, now release your aura, it’s ruining my mood.”

Etora obliged and he drew his aura back in an instant.

Kimi and Sam both felt a weight leave their shoulders.

*Huff puff huff*

Their breathing became easier but neither one could shake the terrible feeling for a while.

“Little sister, you too…relax.”

Lamia pouted a little before a playful smile stretched across her face and her teasing demeanor returned.

“If big brother says so then I guess it can’t be helped.”

Glacious grabbed at the air and Sam and Kimi felt their bodies suddenly being hoisted into the air. A second later and they were placed back in their seats as though nothing had ever happened. Glacious tapped his fingers on the table one time and the large crack running all the way through it, repaired itself before anyone could even blink.

“I get it. You don’t know me at all little lady and so my words must be nothing more than a fart in the wind but I speak the truth. Even I, with all my power, I who have mastery over space magic, even I could not send you all back home. Do you think Garn who is nothing more than an ant in my eyes can do what I cannot?”

Kimi finally got her nerve back after calming down somewhat.

“But…but Garn summoned us all here. He must be able to send us back.”

Glacious shook his head.

“Did he really not inform you all. The man truly is cold. No, you all can not just be sent back. Being brought to this world is not too difficult of a thing to do but sending you back…That’s like trying to find a specific grain of sand on a beach but the beach is covered in darkness and all of your senses are cut off. Impossible is the only word that fits this.”

Glacious started to eat as though the matter was done but Asuna was starting to feel pissed from his nonchalant attitude. Still, she learned from Kimi’s mistake and cupped her fist, bowing slightly.

“Senior, please explain properly. I don’t understand.”

Glacious was a little annoyed but he knew if he didn’t say things clearly, they would most likely continue to pester him to death. With a clank, he set his utensils down and wiped his mouth.

“When you all were summoned, I’m sure you all felt something. Tell me, do you remember what that feeling was?”

Asuna thought back and answered.

“I… felt like my entire body was being held in place and I couldn’t move. Before I knew what was what I passed out. When I woke up I was already in this world.”

Asuna then remembered it was Kazuki who threw in some weird smoke. It was because of that that she had passed out. She glared at him for a moment, but of course, Kazuki didn’t understand why she seemed mad.

“Right, that feeling may not have seemed too significant but that was something akin to locking you in place. That is only a part of it. When the summoning circle first appears, it is not a random thing. From the summoner’s end, they have inscribed something specific in the inscription circle. An instruction if you will.”

“An instruction senior?”

“Yes. An instruction to find something.”

Glacious pointed at Asuna and then Kimi and the others one by one.

“The thing it looks for is a strong soul.”

Kazuki knew about this part. This was one of the ways he narrowed it down to who would be summoned. His compass had found those with the most powerful souls early on and after that, he just needed to replace one of them and also help enhance his own soul. At the time when he knocked Ryuta out of the summoning circle, he had an inscription marked on his head. One of its functions was to temporarily boost the strength of his soul.

Asuna wanted to ask another question but Glacious beat her to it.

“You all are probably wondering why me, and what does this have to do with not returning. Well, the answer is simple. in order to find someone across space with no prior information, you need an incredibly strong force of energy. The soul is that source of energy but not just any soul will do. Your souls are special. The quality of them outclasses others. Let’s put it this way. If a regular living creature’s soul were at a one then all of your souls would be at a million. In the abyssal darkness and ever-expanding vastness of space, all of your souls would shine brighter than stars. Finding you would be no problem and bringing you here is even simpler. The thing is how would one return you. Garn and those who helped summon you, none of them know where the location they plucked you from. Sure some of them may know the planet’s name and the country you came from but they can learn that from you all and they’ve done so in the past.”

Everyone was having trouble taking this all in but Glacious still had more.

“You humans are not the first that have been summoned. There have been a few but none have been returned to Earth. For them to find the location of the planet you’re from when it’s constantly moving and space is constantly expanding and this planet as well continues to move nonstop, you’d have to be a god to do that. And there are no gods in this lower realm. Even if they could somehow manage to figure out the exact spot they summoned you from, were they to return you there, Earth would not be there. Again, this is because Earth continues to move and space itself continues to expand. Only a god who can reach through time and space can pull off such a feat and even they may find it difficult due to the rules of the upper realms. So when I say it is impossible, well I ain’t lying.”
