Reya leaned over Abura’s cold corpse and slowly opened her mouth. Danny and the others wondered what she was up to when she out of nowhere proceeded to vomit directly over Abura’s head.
Asuna and the others took a step back in disgust but this didn’t stop Reya from hurling. A thick purplish-black liquid fell out from her mouth and clung to Abura’s skin. Reya puked up more and more of this nasty liquid and the blow of wind brought a nauseous smell into everyone’s nose.
The smell of rot and decay filled their senses and caused Danny and Kimi to gag and nearly vomit themselves. Sam helped support Kimi but Danny was left with no help and his eyes watered and he choked on his own spit. Asuna and Shin looked at one another before they both retreated a dozen feet on reflex.
Reya seemingly spilled her guts overtop Abura’s head. Danny finally forced the vomit down his throat with a hard swallow. He regained a bit of composure and wanted t to curse Reya with everything he had but before he could even attempt to gather the courage to rebuke her, the purplish-black blood sunk into Abura.
The foul liquid entered Abura’s mouth and sank into his nose. It poured into his open eye sockets like his face was a drain. Even his ears were no exception. The purplish-black liquid entered from every open hole, every injury you name it the blood, like wiggling little worms found its way inside of him.
*Silence*
No one knew what to do or say at this horrible scene and just stood there.
Not even five seconds later.
*Grach Krck*
Sloppy gurgles echoed out of Abura’s mouth and his body began to shake and twitch profusely. His body jerked and stretched out fully before recoiling like a shriveled snail before repeating these movements again and again. Something within him popped and broke continuously as his chest rose and fell violently.
The legs that were clearly broken before flexed outwardly and bent themselves back into place. His only arm followed suit and unrolled itself from the odd angel it rested in before more pops and cracks rang out.
Reya smirked and commanded forcefully.
“RISE!”
Responding to her order, Abura’s dead corpse rose like a puppet guided by string. At his full height, he wasn’t as tall as Reya but with his width, it more than made up his intimidation. Especially now that he had seemingly came back from the dead.
Inside his head, two eyes grew in his sockets and glowed with a bright red. Abura looked at Reya unblinkingly as though he were waiting for something.
Reya looked at the empty spot where Abura’s arm used to be and she again ordered him.
“Fix your arm, your big body looks stupid with a missing arm.”
Abura said nothing but he did look at the missing space where an arm would be. Without moving or giving any indication that he had heard or understood her, several cords of muscle stretched out from his shoulder.
*Guech*
A bone shot out from his shoulder and connective tissue formed around it in seconds. Flesh and skin wrapped around it and his arm were forming in front of everyone. In seconds it was done.
Danny looked back at everyone to see if they saw what he did and sure enough, they were both startled and aghast.
Danny looked back and even though Reya had warned them all, Danny’s curiosity made him speak.
“Is…Is this how Azirian’s are created?”
The same thought ran through everyone’s mind all at once but Reya ignored Danny’s question. Instead, her brows furrowed at Abura.
“You big oaf. Why didn’t you fix your hand too?”
Everyone’s attention naturally drifted to Abura’s hand or rather the lack of it. Abura though remained silent.
Reya snapped her fingers in front of his face repeatedly to get his attention.
“Hey! didn’t you hear me? I asked you didn’t fix your hand as well?”
Reya pointed at the spot where Abura’s hand should be but Abura still didn’t answer. Reya saw that there was still no response and wondered out loud.
“Don’t tell me…”
Reya shaped her hand into a sword and without hesitation, she slashed about an inch of Abura’s head off. The top of Abura’s skull went flying and landed in the nearby snow. Reya looked down and sure enough, her thought was true.
Inside of Abura’s skull, his brain that had previously become soup was still in the process of reforming itself.
“Dammit!”
Reya slapped Abura in frustration and his head spun completely around twice.
*Snap pop crack*
A few loud pops rang out as the bone in his neck broke repeatedly. This seemed to do nothing to Abura though as he simply stood there, his red eyes looking at Reya without any emotion.
*Haaa*
“Just fix your hand already you fat idiot.”
Without out answering back, a hand grew out from Abura’s arm in no time.
Everyone felt a sense of fear seeing Abura not only come back from the dead but also regrowing limbs. Danny though could tell something was wrong.
(Why does Abura not respond very well. He’s an Azirian but he doesn’t seem to be anything like Reya. There’s no intelligence whatsoever.)
Reya though felt disappointed.
(Shit, his brain was too damaged or rather there was just goop left. The time it takes a brain to regrow could take days or even weeks. Should I just let him eat one of these brats.)
As soon as she had this thought she quickly shook it away.
(No, their value still hasn’t been fully determined. I did threaten to kill them earlier but that was mostly to scare them. They may still have worth in slowing Kazuki. If he has any attachments left to any of them, that could be just the opportunity I need to catch him off guard. That may be a last resort though. Damn! Why does this have to be so much more difficult than necessary?)
Reya’s eyes glowed and she looked deeply into Abura’s eyes. His red eyes seemed to resonate with hers and she spoke slowly and purposely.
“If you can hear me, nod once.”
Abura returned Reya’s stare before his head went up and down repeatedly. Only until Reya told him to stop did he.
“Good. Now, nod your head one time if you were tracking Kazuki earlier.”
Abura remained still.
(Shit, was he not tracking him?)
Reya thought for a moment before she tried changing her question.
“Nod once if you were tracking someone earlier.”
Abura again nodded.
(Yes. He must not remember Kazuki by name but there are still some memories in there that he does recognize. he at least knows he was tracking someone. I can use this.)
“Alright, the way you tracked this person down, nod once if you can do it again.”
Once more Abura nodded.
“Good, then lead the way.”
Abura tilted his head momentarily and the contents within his skull slushed back and forth for a few seconds. Tilting his head upward, his nose rapidly healed before it began to sniff at the surrounding air.
*Sniff sniff*
Abura slowly began to roam about before something caught his attention. His head turned rapidly and snapped behind him.
*Sniff sniff*
He caught the scent of something. His head still faced behind him and he began to walk backward as he followed the scent.
Danny gulped hard witnessing this Zombie-like sight. He wanted to look away but something inside wouldn’t let him.
(No, I can’t look away. I might be able to learn something from this devilish scene. Maybe I can find some sort of weakness, some kind of fatal flaw that can help the kingdoms of Feya defeat these monsters.)
Reya was annoyed with Abura’s appearance and ordered him again.
“Straighten yourself out and walk forward normally. Seeing you walk like that makes all Azirians look like dumb shits. What a disgrace.”
Abura said nothing but his head snapped around back to his front and he turned around and walked normally.
“Good, now let’s pick up the pace. Start running, I’m already far enough behind Kazuki as it is.”
Abura stomped on the ground and his body accelerated forward. He was nowhere as fast as he before which led Danny to question more things. Of course though he ket these things to himself.
Reya saw that no one else was moving and her voice rose like a rising tide as she barked at them.
“MOVE YOUR ASSES BEFORE I SHAVE SOME FLESH FROM YOU ALL!”
Her hand enlarged until it was three times the size and her fingers became large claws with razor-sharp nails at the end. She slashed her hand at a nearby tree felling it in one blow. If there wasn’t a fire under their asses before, seeing this definitely lit one.
Asuna and the others wondered if they really had to follow Reya all the way. A few even wondered what Kazuki might do in this situation. If it was him, surely he would have some type of plan. These thoughts were promptly thrown aside. There was little to no point in thinking about something that wouldn’t happen.
Although Abura was much slower than before, he still kept a pace that was well above that of an average man. After a while, the curtain of day fell as the sun set and Abura led them through the cold dark night.
