「Edi, Edi! Wait, stop! Don’t take that person away!」

I tried to chase that man, but the Temple Knights lined up in front of me and blocked my way. I tried to catch up to him through the gaps in between the people in front of me, but the Temple Knights just mercilessly pushed me back. It wasn’t that I didn’t think that they would pull out their swords against me if I continued to fight back, but I just couldn’t sit around silently watching that man get taken away.

「Filmina! Calm down, you’ll hurt the baby!」

「But, Sir Yuri!」

As I continued to be pushed back by the Temple Knights, I reached my hand out in desperation. The Hero came in from the side and stopped me by holding me. Even if I tried to break out of it, I was no match for the strength of a trained young man.

Edi. I called out that man’s name while the Hero held me in his arms.

And in a moment after that, that man stopped in his tracks. He didn’t seem to notice the glare of contempt the Priest gave himーno, he noticed it, and to top that off, completely ignore it. That man then looked over his shoulder in our direction.

Yulifalet, I’m leaving FIlmina to you.

「ーGot it」

「Edi!? Sir Yuri!?」

What did he mean 「leave」. What did he mean 「Got it」. I didn’t get anything. I couldn’t even wrap my head around it. I, too, am involved in this just as much as they were. I really wished that they would stop deciding things without me. I wasn’t about to just watch that man leave without doing anything.

「Calm down, Filmina. Let’s just believe in Agedilus right now.」

The Hero told me as he held me in his arms. …….It was just as the Hero said. Right. That was what the part of me that was overlooking this situation unusually calmly was telling me in my head. That’s right. That man would not let himself get captured without a plan in mind. I understood it logically, but I just couldn’t control my emotions.

「Edi!」

I screamed out desperately. But that man just gave me an unbelievably kind and calm smile. It was a sweet, beautiful smile. It was a smile that would put even the night spirits to shame and make them hide behind the clouds.

「It’s alright. I’ll come back to you soon guys soon. So please wait for me, together with our child.」

No. I want to go together with you. That’s what I wanted to say. But the words just wouldn’t come out. Instead, my tears would not stop overflowing.

Wait for me. He didn’t even say those words to me when he went for the fight with the Demon Lord. How would those words make me happy right now? He was supposed to be ridiculously smart. Yet, at important times like this, he’s always been like this. A stupid person. A terrible person. It wasn’t’ endearing at all.

With that, that man left me as I knelt down on my knees in the Hero’s arms. Surrounded by the Temple Knights, he left the Schtorenvihein mansion. The back view of that man looked just like that of Noct as he left the Royal Capital. I reached out my hand, but again, it didn’t reach.

「This really has become something troublesome, hasn’t it?」

The same words came out of the Princess’s mouth as a few days ago. A stern expression appeared on that beautiful face of hers, that resembled a lily flower in full bloom. I could see through the furniture and wall behind her. Although she appeared translucent to me, I felt as though she gave off an aura of bright light just by her standing there.

Under normal circumstances, I probably would have already been lost in my admiration for her beauty, and would have gotten engrossed in just having a good chat with her. However, this was not the time for that. I, as I sat in the room where that man and I lived in the Schtorenvihein mansion, knew that painfully well. And so did the Hero, as well as the Princess, whose image was being projected using a magic communication stone.

Since my lady-in-waiting knew about the current situation, she was allowed to be in the room. As she stood in front of the door, she threw me a concerned look. However, I did not have the words to respond to her. I felt bad that I wasn’t able to say anything in response to her concern for me, but right now, I didn’t have the energy to.

It was three days ago that that man had been captured by the Priest from the large temple. After watching him being taken away, I wasn’t even able to feel dumbfounded. To cheer me up, the Hero had encouraged me to contact the Princess. I really had to thank him for that. At first, being as shaken as I was, I didn’t feel like I had the strength to do so. But I somehow managed to calm my heart down, and now here we were, talking to each other by projecting our images through the magic communication stone.

As if she had been waiting for me to contact her, the Princess answered the call immediately. And that was probably because, based on what I had heard, the Priest who captured that man had boasted widely about his fear in the Royal Capital. Because of that, the fact that that man had been captured by the Priest, together with the original rumours spread around the Royal Capital, had quickly spread like wildfire.

It seemed that the Priest had also tipped off the editor of the magazine that wrote that baseless story about how the child in my belly was going to be the next Demon Lord.「The Royal Palace Head Magician attacked the Priest of a large temple」,「Just as we thought, that Pure Black Magic User planned to become the father of the Demon Lord」. I had heard that extra issues of the magazine were distributed throughout the Royal Capital. The correspondence between the two parties was so fast that there wasn’t even enough time to place pressure on the publisher to stop issuing the magazines. That was what the Princess was sighing about just a while ago.

「Princess, I am so terribly sorry for once again causing trouble for you.」

「Me too. I am sorry that I wasn’t able to be of any use in the end, despite being entrusted this task by the Princess.」

I bowed my head down deeply as I sat on the chair, begging for the Princess’s forgiveness. The Hero stood right beside me and lowered his head down following me.

I couldn’t help but feel even worse that the Hero had to bow his head down for us, even though he had done absolutely nothing wrong. I kept my head down low, feeling ashamed of myself. That was when the Princess’s dignified voice rang against my eardrums as she said:「Please lift your heads.」

As I fearfully lifted my head up, the Princess laughed a little before she slanted her eyebrows downwards, looking troubled.

「It’s not like I’m blaming you guys or anything, so there’s no need for apologies. Rather, I’m sorry for causing you to worry because of our incompetency. Yulifalet, that goes for you as well. I feel bad saying something like this, but I am very thankful to you for ensuring that the ordeal at your mansion could end without anything big happening. 」

「That wasn’t because of me. It was all thanks to Agedilus……. It was because he told them not to hurt us that everything ended peacefully.」

The Hero held his fist tightly, as if to lament over his own powerlessness. However, personally, I agreed with what the Princess said. It was true that it was thanks to that man that the Priest was prevented from saying that the people in the Schtorenvihein household, including the Hero, were「hiding the traitor who sided with a demon」. However, afterward the entire ordeal, the Hero quickly proclaimed a gag order [1. TL Note: typically a legal order to restrict information from being made public] for the people living in the region, prohibiting them from spreading the news about that man’s absence, as well as the visitation of the Priest. It was all thanks to no other than the Hero and his father, the owner of the land, that the ruckus was not blown out of proportion. Thanks to that, nothing had changed in the Schtorenvihein region on the surface as far as I am aware of. The calmness of this place had remained unchanged.

But even so, everyone knew that peace was not something that could be kept forever. That man had been taken away by one of the largest Temples in the Schtorenvihein region. No matter how hard the Hero and the others worked, there was nothing much they could do as the Priest went around proudly boasting about how he had captured that man.
