CHAPTER 105: A SCOLDING

My plan went perfectly, sucking up Triton into the sword and activating all my hiding skills as I attached myself to the ship right where the waves were hitting it. This way I wouldn’t be discovered with any type of motion sensing skills.

I could hear them talking on deck, but I couldn’t make out the words being spoken. However, from the tone of their conversation, I could tell they were feeling uneasy. It was only when I felt like the situation up there became a bit lax, that I decided to attack.

Using [Blink] in succession, I gained enough height to reach the needed momentum and distance. I planned on releasing Triton at the ship from above along with an enormous amount of water. My first attack didn’t have such a volume, since I didn’t want to disturb the ship while gathering water. This time, I will make sure they are unable to defend. But unfortunately just at that moment a person looked up and I was spotted.

But what I never expected is that person that noticed me was the Crown Prince in company of the King and some of the heroes.

“What are you doing here? You also attacked me first, care to explain that?”

I was using quite the harsh tone on all of them, but thinking I have been attacked first, I had all the right to be angry. I was just standing and looking at them to provide an explanation about the situation. Nakamura-kun kept avoiding my gaze and Ishikawa was looking down. The only person not showing any remorse or regret was the King who on the other hand looked rather thrilled about all this.

“They all acted on my orders so don’t be angry with them. Also we didn’t know it was you who we attacked, so don’t hold a grudge for too long. Since we thought that the monster you were with was dangerous, we decided to move against it.”

“I wouldn’t mind it, if Triton attacked you first, but to open fire on an unknown monster was way beyond foolish. He could have been a sacred beast that provided help to those lost at sea and you could have killed it. You should think before you act. Tsk, so foolish.”

I ended up scolding him and it was only after I was done that I realized my position and that I might have just overstepped all boundaries. After all, this person is the Crown Prince and the inheritor of the throne. And I just acted against him in front of his men and even the King.

“You’re right, it was a mistake on my part. But, what you are doing out in the sea? I would have expected you to be in Orzak and not here. Also what happened to that monster? I know for a fact that it didn’t swim away.”

“I wonder about that as well. I am here to do the request for the guild. I need to visit Daminu Island. “

It was an obvious lie, but as I said that I sent the Sapphire into my inventory. I don’t want to reveal the power of my strongest weapon. Especially not in front of the King, for whom I was certain that he would want to get his hands on it. I could see it in his eyes, the moment I appeared on deck.

“You are as hardworking as ever, Naoko-chan. You’re looking as gorgeous as I remember. Come stay with us, that place is nearby and we can get you there and then back to the mainland.”

“Oh no, how could I trouble you. I have my own way to reach the island. You should not make any unnecessary stops for me.”

Not to mention that I knew all about his plan to wed me to his son. Something like that is what I want to avoid the most.

“Father it appears she already has a way to travel. And we should not inconvenience her.”

Good job Vitou-sama, it seems that I have a partner in this. But it seems his words are like the wind, because the King simply acted like he didn’t hear them.

“Naoko-chan, I insist. I could not let you go alone at this hour. Think of it as an apology from all of us.”

How about letting me go instead? Now I can’t refuse, otherwise it would seem like I wasn’t willing to accept their apology. Plus, he is technically my King, since I was living in Elicia. It looks like this is an inescapable situation.

“If you insist, Your Majesty, how could I be the one to refuse you. Since that is the case, I will be in you care for a while.”

“Lovely! Now that everything is settled, how about you tell about that sword of yours that you used earlier? I find it oddly similar to my Sword of Light. Everything but the color is the same.”

S*it! I had that sword in my hand when I appeared on deck and the King could get a good look at it before I stuffed it into inventory

“It is made based on that sword, by the greatest mastersmith ever. It is a good weapon but unlike the Sword of Light, it has no light properties whatsoever, nor does it have fire properties like its twin, the Sword of Fire.”

I needed to be careful how I say things, since the Sword of Light can tell if someone is telling a lie. It is important to only give out half of the truth while selling it as the whole deal.

“Then I must say it is made extremely well to be able to make my sword sense its presence and even begin trembling. I don’t think I ever saw such a well made replica.”

That is a thing? Then why didn’t I sense it with Amethyst? Could it be because that sword is still in its sealed state? Anyways, it is a very important piece of information. Later on when I am looking for the rest of the swords, I would be able to sense them when I get close to them. This will make my job easier.

“I had no idea it can do that. It seems that I won’t be able to surprise you for as long as I have this blade. There go my plans for a surprise birthday party.”

“Come on, I would act surprised either way. Allow me to show you to your room. I want to hear how you have the past three months.”

I was led away by the king. I had to keep up the small talk with him as he took me towards my room. I heard a long sigh behind me. I wanted to do the same thing, but sadly since I was right next to the King, it might offend him.

The walk to my room was extremely slow and I swear he was taking the longest possible route. It was only after fifteen minutes that we reached the room he assigned to me.

“Thank you for giving me this room. And I am extremely sorry about disturbing your travel plan.”

“It is no trouble at all Naoko-chan. Have a good night.”

I bid the King goodbye and entered the room.
