CHAPTER 127: MORE TROUBLE LOOKING FOR ME

I decided to come back early. My treasure hunt turned out to be a bust. Since I was so used to games and this world seeming game-like, I was expecting to find treasure chests in random places. It was only after not finding anything for days did I realize my misconception and how silly I must have been. Thankfully nobody will have to know about this mistake of mine.

When I returned, I was greeted by the Guild master who wanted to know how my training turned out, but upon seeing my sour face as I remembered how stupid I was, he backed away without pressing further about the topic. I will let him think that I failed and leave it at that. It’s not like I tried hard in the first place.

Instead of worrying about my mistake, I began preparing a detailed plan on how to train the twenty four members once they arrive. What I want to achieve is to create an elite force that will be able to take on any form of monster that might come here thanks to the effect of my title. And since the elite force will deal with them I will don’t have to worry about gaining more contributions at the guild and I will not have to rank up anymore. That being the case, I will never have to get engaged to the Crown Prince and I can still stay somewhat free.

As for the reason why I chose younger people, it is because they will be more willing to learn something new, especially things that are considered unusual or abnormal in this world. Also their perception of magic should not be set in stone just yet, which in turn will allow me to instill a complete new way the magic can be used.

Another thing that I wanted to do is to test out how Thanatos’ spell works. For that reason I chose so many non-members to go through with this test and only one small part of official members who even after not meeting them or contacting them properly for some time now still act as if I am their god.

Because there were so many things to prepare, I found myself often at the guild reading books and expanding my knowledge about this world while also drawing up my plan of education. I also reopened my hot chocolate business for the time being since I will need more money to pay for the lodging of the members.

“Naoko-san it has already been a week and you haven’t taken a single request. You also haven’t slept properly. I know you are here to study every day, but you should also rest otherwise you will burn out.”

I looked at Nino-san that was holding a cup of tea for me. I hadn’t even noticed that the afternoon shift had started.

“I’m fine, the area I can visit is large enough that I can probably go for a month without taking a single request and still be good. Also this should be the last day; from tomorrow on I will be busy with other things. You see my dear guests are arriving tomorrow.”

“That is even more the reason to rest properly. I actually have a request for you. Water slime clogged up the sewer system in the northern part of the town. The rank is rated D so you should be able to deal with it easily. If nobody does anything about it the stench will turn horrible. Oh I should inform you that the inn you’re staying at will also be affected.”

I cringed. This truly isn’t a hard request and just like he said I would be able to deal with it easily. I decided to accept it, because I don’t think I would be able to bear living with such stench. Slimes are also easy to deal with since all I had to do was take out its core and it melts down completely. The only downside was the fact I had to visit the sewers. Not the prettiest memory if I dare say. I decided to accept it, because I don’t think I would be able to bear living with such stench. When Yoru finally came back yesterday he brought the reply Dogusu sent me and also seemed to have grown larger. His vacation must have been quite fruitful and he had grown several levels while hunting monsters on the way back. Upon hearing about Byakko, he suddenly became jealous and went out to hunt some more saying he will not lose to a mere cat. I let him be since he looked happy to compete. It’s not like it costs mana to keep him summoned.

Since I knew that everyone would be arriving tomorrow, I decided to reserve the rooms for everyone. I actually thought about buying a piece of land or property, but upon some thinking decided to wait a bit. I will need to test out the ability of each and every one of them and only after that buy land somewhere outside town, since I don’t know how large of an area I might need.

When the day was finally over and I laid down on my bed thinking how tomorrow things would finally become less stressful and relaxed a bit. I closed my eyes and willed the sleep to take over me. As I felt myself slowly passing out a thunderous roar ripped through the night sky waking everyone that heard it.

“Come out, come out my desire! Come out and show me your strength.”

I cursed inwardly; whatever this is I am sure it is here because of me and my accursed title. Well I don’t care, this monster, creature, person can keep on calling out and searching for me all he wants. Unless I am kidnapped forcefully I do not plan on moving a muscle.

I made sure all my hiding skills were active and that my aura was not running wild as I turned on the side and went back to sleep.

***NINO’S POV***

The roaring was terrifying. Just the sound of the voice in the night sky forced me to hide, even though I knew I had to go out and defend the town. There was only one existence which can make me feel this way; True Dragon.

Peeking at the sky through the window I could see lightning swirling in the sky like a storm with thunder booming and creating chaos on this peaceful night. I was nervous; I didn’t know what it was planning to do flying so close to town, but not attacking. The more I observed the less sense I could make of it. In the end I could only conclude that it was looking for something and luckily he was not interested in the town itself.

I sent out a silent prayer to all the gods hoping that he was only passing by and was not intending to stay around here for too long or that in case something happens, Naoko-san would be able to create another miracle. If it is her, I am sure she is already preparing to fight this dragon.
