CHAPTER 128: GUESTS

“Welcome everyone. I am sorry for the late introduction. I am Maeda Naoko, current leader of Dragon’s Descent clan. Due to some reasons I am currently stuck in this place and couldn’t have come out to greet you sooner. I hope we will be able to cooperate well.”

The group arrived at last. I stationed them at the inn for now and called them to the outskirts of town. I needed to get to know them as well as scope their abilities a bit. And I want to tell them what I plan on doing as well.

“I know that all of you are outstanding already, but I will be the one to shape you all into real jewels. By the time I am done with you, all of you will gain the power that will allow you to live leisurely for the rest of your lives.”

There was a round of applause upon hearing this. I planned on using all resources on them since they will become my future strength. For now I will have the six official members act more as guards to them and later they will all form one single party that will reign supreme.

“I will not allow you to slack off. There is much I must instill on you and not nearly enough time. That is why I plan on starting vigorous training the first thing tomorrow, but today we shall enjoy ourselves and get to know each other better.”

I took out tables and dishes I prepared during my cooking frenzy from the inventory and began the banquet. They were already acquainted with each other having traveled to Orzak for the past two weeks or so, but even so talking over a warm meal is much better.

The six members I was familiar with from the letters Dogusu sent me, but the eighteen kids were the ones that were more interesting. Just from the fact that they were able to stand here shows that their abilities were above average and with some polishing, they will all be called geniuses. And yet, even among them there were some that stood out more than others.

Firstly; Luca and Ina, a pair of twins that both used swords as their main weapon. On top of being proficient at swords both of them looked so beautiful it seemed unfair to anyone else standing next to them.

And secondly there were Ehni and Zyra. Ehni is a scout that mastered stealth and assassination techniques at such a young age. He is often in a party with Zyra who is somewhat of a special case in this group. She was already on the brink of becoming a B-rank adventurer and is highest rank adventurer in the group. She doesn’t fight at all and hates engaging in combat, but she has a special affinity towards healing. Because of that talent she was often scouted by many different parties that wanted her to go along with them, and over time she and Enhi slowly became a pair that went along a lot with Zyra healing and Ehni being a shadow and protecting her.

The rest of the group was still nonetheless outstanding but compared to these four they were lacking. However, none of that mattered because once I was done with them they would all be top of the class, with very few being able to go against them. They would be my representatives in this world, even going against the heroes. I will show those guardians that even though they cast me away I will still be better than them and have a better team in the end.

After the feast was over and I was able to meet everyone I went back to my room to finish up the plan for teaching and to organize the groups of four. I plan on having them work in smaller groups and then slowly merge them until they are working as one single unit. When everything was done, I went to my bed to get some sleep, and just like yesterday the roaring came once again. I had assumed that upon not being able to find me yesterday it left, but it seems that is not the case. I guess I will have to bear with it for a while.

“Don’t you plan on dealing with that? He seems to be calling to you quite persistently.”

I flinched at the sound of this voice. There aren’t many that can sneak up on me, especially when I am paying attention and actively avoiding being seen. That is why it didn’t take me long to recover and lunge at the intruder with a sword in my hand.

“Deal with it? This is all your fault in the first place.”

I slashed my sword hoping to cut my mysterious man, but sadly before I could reach him I was paralyzed. He must have anticipated my reaction and was ready to move. I tried using magic to break free, but just like last time, all I did was waste mana. After learning I could have died last time I tried to swallow his bindings I decided not to risk it this time around.

“Don’t be so angry, I actually came here to congratulate you on your promotion. You can really make your big brother proud. I am really happy to see you grow so much.”

“You’re no brother of mine. What the hell were you thinking? I am not your property; you had no right to bargain using me as a stake. Remove the spell you put on me and take back this accursed title!”

I was still trying to struggle free from his binding and eventually slash my sword at him, but all he did was laugh slightly at me proclamation and took it easy as he approached me while avoiding the blade of the sword that was pointed at him. To make things worse he even patted my head like I was some child. How irritating.

“Well, to be honest, this is the real reason that I came to visit. I figured completing A-rank requests will be hard if you are only bound to this small area. That is why I came to change that situation and to make you more eager to accept A-rank requests. As for the title I cannot change it, nor take it back. In fact that title suits you perfectly and it fused with your soul in its entirety. Even if I wanted to, I would not be able to take that title away from you.”

I groaned in despair, just hearing the roaring outside in the night sky only made me feel worse. This title brought this monster here and from the looks of it I don’t think that it will be leaving anytime soon.

“Screw off, I am not planning on being your toy that you play with. I will use all my power to stop myself from reaching the A-rank. Even with this cursed title I will find a way to escape the fate you created for me. Mark my words, the day where I get married to the crown prince will never arrive and a day will come where you will stand below me begging me for mercy.”

I was glaring at him, but he only laughed at my expression. I had a feeling he was seeing me as a child throwing a tantrum. He raised his hand placed it on my head, the very next moment I felt a sharp pain in my chest as if something was piercing my heart. This had left me breathless and weak, but I refused to fall down or let go of my sword even though I could feel all bindings disappear. I knew that he just placed some other spell on me and even though I wanted to, I was still unable to resist him.

“Oh, you withstood that, I applaud you. Now whenever you accept an A-rank request you will be able to move around anywhere you want otherwise, you are bound to this small perimeter. Oh, I almost forgot, this should be helpful to your little project. And in case that you find yourself in trouble with some monster that you can’t deal with just shoot this flare. Think of it as an apology and small compensation.”

He tossed two items and I caught them skillfully. One was a firework that I simply shoved into inventory without inspecting it and the other one was an almond shaped pearl that had sinister aura around it. This caught my attention and I immediately used [Heaven’s Eye] to find out more about it.

[Dungeon Seed] RANK: Legendary.
A dark and demonic seed used to create a special space in the world that can endlessly create monsters. The first creature to touch its core will become the master of this space and gain special powers related to this space.

“Thanks to you I was lucky enough and didn’t have to use it, so I figured you should get it instead. I don’t know how much you know about them considering you have only been inside Elicia, but I suggest you educate yourself better with them. You will see that they are very useful, just don’t be too greedy. Guard the core well, humans tend to destroy them. If I were to share some advice, your little mountain lair is perfect for a dungeon like this.”

I looked up and saw him leaving my room. I had absolutely no idea how he knew everything I had done ever since we parted, but what he said made a lot of sense. This will really help with my project of training my little group, but since this is coming from him, I can’t help but be skeptical about it.
