CHAPTER 196: FIRST FLOOR CLEARED

“Naoko-chan that was an amazing skill, how did you do it? I still can’t believe it was merely thanks to this bow.”

“Yeah, tell us in detail Nao-chan.”

The exploding AoE death aura/mist arrows easily decimated the monsters approaching, and by the time they reached us, less than a dozen remained. Mia was excited, Marc showed praise and the others showed annoyance and fear. Well I don’t blame Taichi and Daisuke since they saw that attack up close.

“Oh, it’s nothing much, barely worth mentioning. This bow uses mana and different attribute magic to form and shoot arrows. Also has aim correction and a longer range.”

There is no need to go in detail and give them more ideas for new magic. Daisuke is a formidable foe when it comes to magic application and just by knowing the theory he can put it into practice. I already gave him a power boost by letting him know about Space magic. I don’t want him to decipher everything about my magic.

“Nothing my ass, so how many monsters are still coming this way?”

I checked the map, but nothing else was there. The grasslands were quiet with only a breeze swaying the grass.

“These were all of them, well they will all come swarming towards me because of reasons so it is no wonder all of them got eradicated already. We should probably go and check for any treasures. It would be a waste to leave them.”

We began walking and looking for anything that might interest us. What bothered me is that my map was not showing a single place that would lead to the second floor. Upon searching the entire floor we came across some treasure chests, but there was only junk inside. Another thing that I found odd was the lack of traps anywhere on the map.

Even after combing through every nook and cranny none of us were able to find a way out to the next floor. This could not be real, a rare ranked dungeon, but the only monsters and floors that it had were some orcs on this floor. Something was wrong.

“Does anyone have any idea where the entrance to the next floor might be?”

“Nope.” “Nei.”

“Come elementals, I need your help in exchange for my mana. Go and search for a way to the second floor.”

After a chorus of greetings that arrived with elementals they spread out in all directions. If they can’t find it I will forcibly destroy this entire floor and find the way that way.

“Come to think of it Naoko-chanm how come you can act with elementals. I had several people with Spirit magic come and try communicating with them, but they couldn’t do it at all.”

“It is because they are angry and they don’t want to answer just anyone that calls them. I think I was able to talk to them because I was the first one in a long time to call them. Another reason why they are always willing to help is related to me being a medium through which they were able to get drunk on several occasions. But I am not certain.”

The bunch of them returned, but they couldn’t find anything. That’s it I’m annihilating everything. Sadly before I could do it Vitou stopped me.

“Wait, let’s go back first. I think we should report this to the guild and then try again tomorrow. Don’t be too rash, there is more than enough time to clear this place.”

I decided to go along with his plan. At the very least I will be able to deal more things tomorrow on the first floor. Hopefully that is.

When we reached the entrance cave I stood petrified. Right next to the exit of the dungeon was an indentation that had a lot of cracks on it. I was certain it was not there when I first arrived. Could this be that the only way to descend is once all the monsters are killed on the current floor? That is a brilliant method.

“Aww man this sucks. I never thought that I would only go to the first floor. I wanted to do something more.”

I stopped right before it. Why wasn’t anyone taking notice of it? Don’t they think that this cracked wall is suspicious?

“Nao-chan, is something the matter? We agreed to leave, there is no reason to stay behind. Who knows, we might get lucky tomorrow and find a way further in.”

“No, nothing is the matter. Maybe I should just burn the entire floor and see what happens.”

I had a flash of an idea. Finally I had a good way to ditch everyone and rake up more experience points. By now Marc and Ishikawa were already outside the dungeon and Mia was about to exit.

“Come on, don’t go falling behind. This is only a small setback. You will feel better tomorrow. Plus there is over two months before we had to go back.”

Daisuke left leaving behind only Vitou and me standing just before the exit. It is now or never. I need to ditch him, and if my intuition was right and this is the way down I will be free from them. Moreover, only by clearing the first floor again would this way show itself.

Vitou placed a hand on my shoulder and was about to lead me out like a real gentleman, but I did something he definitely didn’t expect. Putting my hands around his neck and making his back face the exit I stood on my tiptoes as if I were about to kiss him. I could see the shock in his eyes and his body tensed not daring to move.

Before he could regain his senses I kicked him and made him fly through the exit. I didn’t dare dwindle and immediately headed for the indented wall.

“Sorry, I’ll be going on ahead first.”

I took out a hammer and using all my might hit the wall that was full of cracks. The entire thing came falling down and a passageway was revealed to be behind it. This was definitely the way down. It seems like my game instincts are still spot on: always check the cracked walls.

I walked down the passage and found myself in another open area, this time it was a desert. Oh boy, it seems like this will be one fun trip.
