CHAPTER 209: IS IT REALLY UNLUCKY?

“I like this skill. It has a good effect. Sadly it does not come with a passive. My Nao, don’t hog the skill for yourself all the time.”

“Whatever, I will use it when I need to. Deal with it. Are we done? We don’t have that much time left. I need to be up before everyone else and prepare the food.”

Technically I don’t, but it would seem proper since I am the proprietress. Since they are all my paying guest, I should at the very least serve them breakfast. And right now the time should be just before dawn.

“Well, more or less, because you brought the dragon here I can save some DP to reinforce the dungeon overall. Also get more traps and normal monsters. Just what do you have in your dungeon guarding the core to be able to send a dragon here?”

“Hmm, now that I think about it, I don’t have a dungeon boss. If anything the Princess is guarding the core. Well for now people still haven’t reached the third floor since they can’t easily deal with mana drain. And I really don’t want to put Sanshi the three headed dog or Foxy to fight with adventurers. I don’t want to lose them.”

He facepalmed himself. I know that my thinking is foolish, but I raised those kids and it would be too cruel to let them die in a fight with adventurers.

“Anyways, let’s just arrange the monsters, traps and then leave. We can come back later to fine tune all the details. If you didn’t check right now we have six floors. This is the sixth one. I made the 5th clad in fire with fire lizards and magma golems. The floor above has stone and metal golems. Those are great because they will give out resource and people are willing to dive in deeper to reach them and in the process risk their lives.”

Seriously? I thought golems were only discovered recently. He must have used them and seen a lot of people trying to harvest them. This is good to know, I can use it as well in Orzak Dungeon.

“What about the first three floors?”

“I mostly used them to place traps and boxes with rewards. Makes people seek for more, but I never have any good ones, only mediocre at best. If you have any items feel free to put them wherever you want. I assume that is what you got, since you only spent about 300k points.”

Umm, yeah sure, I spent all that buying items. I definitely didn’t gamble it away for luck.

“I decided to trust you with monsters so I only focused on small things.”

“Oh yeah, so what did you get.”

“About a dozen cutlery set, some furniture, about a hundred weak mobs such as goblins, wolves and orcs. There are a few banshees and zombies. Roughly fifty traps out of which only ten or so is useful. I also have some more junk, two McD Happy meals and eight baby monsters that I cannot use. There are two eggs as well, don’t know what is inside.”

He seemed oddly silent. Well, this time I barely ended up in the black with the worth of the items. If I count in baby monsters when they grow up it is a huge win, but that takes time. A lot of time.

“Where did you get all of that? No way is it worth only 300k. Also, why did you buy all those junk items? You should have spent it on other things.”

“I don’t choose what I get. I just press the Random Reward button. I can’t really afford to buy monsters, and this way I have been mostly saving some DP that I invested into the dungeon.”

I guess my luck is good in that way. At the very least I am able to break even in this game. If I didn’t have any luck, I would most likely only ever get junk items.

“Don’t tell me that you win things on every try, how is that possible?”

“Huh, of course not. Why do you think I have so many junk items on me? Overall I get one good or okay item every ten or so draws. I don’t think I am lucky enough to be able to win more often.”

I went on multiple sprees using the Random Reward button, so I am quite familiar with how much I can win out of it. And even if I do win some monster worth the money it is only in its baby form and I must spend that much more time to make it grow before I can use it.

“That is not what I mean, even that is counted as a win. Haven’t you ever lost your DP by gaining nothing or getting like 20% refund?”

“There’s a thing like that? I never go that. Oh wow, I guess I really am a lucky person. Anyways, I need to summon Yoru again. I have a feeling he won’t like this at all.”

The Dreamwolf appeared wagging its tail as soon as he saw me, but also made sure to growl at the Archduke. Aww, he’s so cute. I decided to give him the finely cooked beef that I had on me together with garnish and side dishes because he is so cute. The Archduke seemed to be angry at me the entire time that I dealt with Yoru. Either he doesn’t like being ignored, or he is still sour about the fact he sucks at Random Reward game.

“Cute little Yoru, I have a big favor for you. Can you please help me look after these guys? You already did it one and Sanshi absolutely adores you. Please, please, please will you do it for me?”

After which I showed him the babies: five unicorns, two great direwolves and a baby drake. They were all considered rare or elite monsters, but they will take time to grow up.

“Wait, wait, wait! I get it that you are lucky, but I didn’t think it would be this much, it is almost considered cheating. Do you have any idea how valuable they are? When you said baby monsters I didn’t think it would be elite monsters that you were talking about.”

“What’s wrong, they’re only babies. And it is not like they’re all elite, only one of the unicorns and the drake is. It’s no big deal.”

“Not a big deal you say? It’s a huge deal! Baby monsters all have the ability to grow, which means that once they grow up, all of them will be stronger than the adult counterparts and will continue to grow the more they fight. Sometimes you would be able to come across one in the dungeon catalogue as a limited time offer and that is also if you are lucky to catch it. And what I’m talking about here are the baby forms of common monsters, not rare or elite like the ones you have. Once they grow up all of them would be several times stronger than your usual type of monster you can get. You just pulled seven of them and you say it is nothing!”

I honestly had no idea this was the case. All this time I thought baby monsters were a bother to deal with since I can’t use them immediately, but to learn they are super strong and rare actually made me feel better about myself. Knowing that my luck wasn’t as rotten as I thought it can really make your day seem nicer and you can go out with a huge smile on your face.
