CHAPTER 228: A FIGHT

“Why on earth can’t you learn? Do you have any idea how much of a commotion you caused by disappearing? I won’t even bother mentioning your sea serpent. Can’t you stay still and not wander off alone every single time I take my eyes off of you?”

I knew that this would happen as soon as I get back. That is why I was prepared.

“Vitou, you have no right to forbid me from going anywhere, even less right to lecture me doing so in the first place. I told the guard I would be back by sundown which I did and moreover, I was not alone since Fulgy was with me, so your point is even more invalid. I didn’t wander off anywhere alone.”

“That is even worse, who knows what the two of you did?!”

“I don’t care that you have a problem with Fulgy, he is MY dragon, so you should just suck it up and deal with it. We come as a pair, so stop nagging.”

Now that really pissed him off. I could see his expression going from bad to worse, turning completely red in rage. I simply stared at him with ‘I dare you to hit’ me look. If you raise your hand against me I will make sure you are ruined by the end of the week. This will also serve as a way out of marriage. I smirked at him which was noticed by him and pushed him over the edge.

“Why, you… this is all fun and games to you, isn’t it?”

He raised his hand, but before it landed on me another hand grabbed his.

“You two heroes take him away to cook off, as for you Nao-chan I’d prefer you don’t cause trouble between the two of you. I can’t have the wedding going awry. Now be a good girl and hand over the recording crystal.”

Tsk, why does he always ruin everything? I thought he wanted me to cause mayhem and now he doesn’t want it all of a sudden. I don’t get it? Isn’t he supposed to be my brother, so why can’t he play along? Seeing as I wasn’t reacting he simply took the necklace with the mana crystal and destroyed it.

“Just you wait, one day I will get even with you. Thanks for ruining my plan over and over again. Jerk!”

“You’re welcome.”

I stormed off leaving him alone in the hall. Well this sucks, now I need to come up with another plan to escape. If it comes to worst I will just escape the country. The only thing that I need to do is figure out true long distance teleportation and I would be set. If I can’t do that a teleportation gate or circle for a single use would also come in handy. Either way I don’t want others following me.

I would have to bring along Fulgy, Byakko and the bears. Also everyone from the Dragon’s Descent as well. Then again, I would feel bad about Nord-san and Blink-san not knowing where I am. Just like Nino-san and Millie-chan. On second thought, I don’t think this will work out well.

Scratch everything, I need to go back to the planning phase. And this time I need to make sure the Archduke doesn’t get involved and ruins everything I planned. I wonder if I can fake my death before the wedding, go away for a few years and then come back once Vitou is married. That seems plausible.

Occupied with planning on how to ruin my own wedding I returned to my room in a much calmer mood than when I left the hall.

***VITOU’S POV***

“Boss, you need to calm down. Don’t you know Naoko is trying to rile you up on purpose? Don’t fall for her schemes and tricks. I’m pretty sure she wants you to make a terrible mistake so that she can break the engagement.”

“I know that, but she should still behave a bit better, especially since she has a huge mark on her head. The Black Hand will never spare anyone they think of as an enemy, and that is exactly what Naoko is right now.”

And her going out with that dragon is inexcusable. She is MY fiancée, so she should pay more attention to her status.

“Look, she won’t be defeated that easily. In fact, with her skills I wouldn’t be surprised if the enemy changes his mind and becomes a follower, worshipping her as a god instead.”

“That’s even worse! I don’t need any more flies around her. A single one is already one too many.”

That Fulgur, I barely left her unsupervised and he appeared out of nowhere. How dare he aim at another man’s woman? And Naoko, you should have denied him. You were my fiancée way before you met him.

“Boss, your true colors are showing.”

“I don’t care that they are showing. Once we get back to Kapitalia I am not letting her go anywhere. And I will do something about that dragon before the wedding is done.”

“Your Highness, I advise against such actions. She will retaliate against you and I don’t think it will be a pretty sight to behold. Please calm down and think this through.”

“Mia-san’s contract ends next month, right? I don’t want to hire her again. Get someone else to keep an eye on her. No, get five other people and make them keep all men away from her!”

That Mia, ever since she joined Naoko’s group, she has completely changed. She still does her job to a point where I can’t complain, but she also doesn’t seem to be stopping her wholeheartedly. But the look of complete adoration she shows Naoko is what annoys me the most. That is not a normal look you would share with a person of the same sex. Now that I think about it, some other maids in charge of her area have been showing weird looks towards my Naoko.

“Actually, make them keep both men and women away from her, especially unmarried people. There is something weird going on with people around Naoko and I don’t feel safe having others around her.”
