CHAPTER 263

I was relieved that everything went well. Right now all I want to do is rest. Tomorrow I will head out into town and deal with matters of Dragon’s Descent. I will have to move everything to the islands in the coming months. I will also have to visit the area personally some time before my wedding arrives.

I was back in my room and Mia was following directly behind me. I looked at her and thought about sending her to the island as my envoy, but quickly discarded the idea. If she goes now, Vitou will have someone else to watch over me and I can’t bear to separate her from Marc while they are still in the honeymoon part of their relationship.

“What’s wrong, Naoko-chan? Why are you looking at me like that?”

“Mia, there is not really a need for you to act like my maid. I already told you this once before. Don’t you find it bothersome to follow me like this? I already consider you as a friend, not to mention that you are already an S-rank adventurer.”

“Why are you saying this, Naoko-chan? I actually find it quite fulfilling doing this work. Once my contract with Vitou expires, I plan on asking you to let me follow you. I can still keep my pride standing next to you. After all, you will be a Queen in the future. I am not losing out at all being with you. When that time comes, you will need to have someone next to you who you can trust. I hope I will be able to be that person. Please accept me when that time arrives”

I had no idea she felt like that. Sadly, I don’t plan on becoming the Queen of Elicia, not to mention I don’t like having someone wait on me. However, she did have a point that I would need to have someone trustworthy next to me. She is already part of Dragon’s Descent and Dogusu was my right hand man. I thought about it and decided to make her someone that will act in the dark, I just need to find some good seedlings that will work with her.

“What about your party? Don’t you want to go back to them? If you stay with me you won’t have much time to go adventuring.”

“I actually want to invite them to come to Dragon’s Descent. If you agree I would really be glad. There are two S-ranked adventurers and three A-ranked ones in my party. We were always freely roaming the kingdom and never settled anywhere. Maybe it is time for a change. I was able to gain so much by joining your clan, and every time I met with them, they were jealous of me. I’m sure they will join if I ask them.”

Seriously? I just thought about how I need someone to work with Mia in the dark, if they join I would have a solution to this problem. Not to mention it will boost the power of Dragon’s Descent. After all, S-ranked adventurers are not easy to come across. In my entire group there is only Mia and Boscou.

“In that case, you should go and invite them. I will let Dogusu accept them. Since they are recommended by you, they must be trustworthy people. Later on I will meet with them, there is something I want you to do and they can go with you.”

“Thank you so much, Naoko-chan. They will not disappoint you. I’ll head out immediately. I haven’t seen them in a long time and I can’t wait to tell them the news.”

I let her go. If I can use those people then moving to the islands could be that much easier. Having their protection will be very helpful. Not to mention it will give me more confidence to pull off my grand plan and ruin my wedding.

As soon as Mia left, Vitou appeared in my room.

“Nao-chan, come and follow me. Let’s divide the loot of the treasury. I will bring you to a chamber where you can store everything.”

I totally forgot about that. Everything was sitting in my inventory. When looting, I didn’t find anything that really made me go ‘I must have this’. There were only three legendary items: an axe, a whip and a bastard sword. There were some interesting armors, but none of them were as good as Valkyrie. As for the rest, I’ll let the guys at the group pick something they like and let them have it.

“You can just choose here. But be careful not to get caught if you have these items. If someone finds out they come from the royal treasury of Viliks, you will be in big trouble.”

“Just come with me, it is easier to transport things than me. I don’t have the inventory skill. Don’t worry, we won’t be leaving the castle. And that chamber is well hidden. There shouldn’t be people accidentally coming across it.”

He does have a point there. He led me to the dungeons below the castle and he took me through a maze of corridors until we arrived at a single room closed with heavy iron doors. This really was well hidden. If one doesn’t know where they are going they will be lost in no time.

I dumped the contents on the floor and let him have his pick. He ended up taking the bastard sword and several armors. He also took some accessories with different effects. I was good enough and told him about the information of the items he was interested in. In the end he also ended up taking some unique ranked weapons that were not as valuable. As for the jewels and pearls, he let me have them all to which I was very happy because those will be easier to convert into money.

“Say, how come there isn’t any news about our theft? They can’t be unaware that their treasury was emptied.”

“Even if they found out, I doubt they would publicize it. If I hear anything, you will be the first person I inform. Anyways, take care and don’t get caught harboring these items. I will let you rest now, there are still some things that I need to do.”

I bid him goodbye and returned to my room. I hit the bed and decided to sleep away all the weariness of the past few days.

***VITOU’S POV***

Being back home is the best. Now that everything about the trip to Vilikis is behind, I can relax. There is just one small thing left for me to do.

“Nakamura, here’s my pass. You can go to the library and enter its forbidden section. Make sure you find out the identity of that man. Don’t let others find out what you are looking into, especially my father.”

“I’ll head out immediately. I already have an idea what to look for so it shouldn’t take as long. I just need to find the right book. If all goes well, I will be able to find out the answer in a few days and if there are some problems, two weeks at most. Please look forward to my results.”

He left the room and I was left alone to deal with all the paperwork that piled up while I was away from home.
