CHAPTER 46 – TERROR KNOWN AS ELEMENTAL EMPRESS

Landing on the ground I gave my report. Around 200 flying monsters and uncountable amount of ground monsters were all rushing towards us. The faces of everyone present aside Bow-san went pale. The odds of us surviving were really bad taking into account we were being outnumbered at least 100:1, if not even more.

“Earl Orzak-sama do you have a plan of action?”

I had an idea how to deal with most of the ground force, but since Earl is my employer, I have to act according to his wishes.

“Such a stampede, as you’ve described is something that will be hard to stop by
ourselves, but something tells me you have a plan already so why don’t you share that with us Naoko-chan.”

“I have a way, it’s true, but if I proceed with that, I will not be able to protect you from any airborne monsters nor any stray ground monsters, but I am certain that I will be able to take out 90 percent of all monsters coming this way.”

Saying they were shocked with my exclamation was an understatement. And as for why I wouldn’t be able to protect them is because I am bound to be sick and dizzy from all incoming messages about monsters I killed. The same thing happened when I went against Goblin King. Also, I don’t want to use this magic publicly as it will cause commotion once it spreads.

“90 percent?! How much time will you need, the monsters will most likely arrive in twenty minutes or so.”

“Five minutes to set everything up and another five to ten to kill them off, but as soon as I cast this attack I will become more or less useless for the next half an hour at best. Also, none of you must approach the monsters incoming, unless you wish to die as well.”

An area with extreme low pressure, it will affect anyone regardless of friend or foe. I saw their expressions that told me they are taking this seriously. The Earl nodded in agreement, and I immediately began my preparations.

“Come Earth el…”
“Nao, we’re here!”

Woah, that was fast.

“Take my mana and make walls to create a funnel that will cluster up all the monsters on the ground. Make sure they are tall enough. I need them in a tight space, can you do that?”

“No problem.”
“High walls, tall walls I can make both.”

Then, just like the image in my mind, walls were being erected. The majority of monster ought to be pulled in with this. Now for the hard part, I moved to the top of the walls and gathered all the elements I could call upon. Explaining the plan to them I decided on the area and waited.

I need to activate this spell at the right time, or it will definitely fail. I took out the bow that I obtained. I inspected it hoping to make use of it before the battle
starts to take place.

[Crystal Magic Bow] – Epic
*A magic bow crafted by ancient elves. The bowstring is made out of user’s aura and indicates its power. Arrows shot from this bow have longer range and higher accuracy
thanks to the Wind’s blessing.

SKILL: Protection of Forest – each arrow shot will gain additional wind attribute magic.

I had no arrows on me, and so far I haven’t been able to condense dark magic arrows nor spirit magic, but this time I had help from the elementals. Holding the bow up I connected it with my mana and a silvery gray bowstring formed. Calling for water elemental I formed an arrow and aimed it at one of the flying monsters and let loose the arrow.

Ideally, I wanted the arrow to pierce the head, but I never used a bow before aside from trying it in-game a few times. This is why I didn’t have any expectations about hitting the target. When I was able to hit my target I was surprised, even though it hit its torso instead of the targeted area. In the end, I was only able to take down a few monsters taking several arrows for each, but I didn’t despair. My job was not this.

Exactly according to my plan the monsters were cluttering inside this makeshift funnel towards the area I indicated. The noise of roaring was overbearing. Just a bit more, a tad bit more.

***EARL ORZAK’S POV***

The flying monsters alone were more than enough of a problem, and she says there’s
countless more coming. Let me see how she will deal with them. I heard about her weird incantations and proceeded to talk gibberish to air; I assume she’s using spirits. Almost immediately giant walls of stone and dirt appeared. How does she use earth magic without the element? Is this how she was able to earn Elemental Empress title?

As the monsters approached she took out a beautiful bow. She looked rather imposing with it. For sure, this item is Unique at the very least, might even be Epic ranked. She formed a water arrow and began sniping the flying monsters. It was not impressive shot, but at least she shot it. She seems odd holding the bow. Could it be that she is unaccustomed with it? But her arrows still hit every time. I can’t decide if she is skilled or not.

Oh, she pulled back. It is time I take over, the Disappearing Demon will rise again today.

Heeding Naoko’s warning I didn’t dare approach the area she designated and waited for the first monsters to come closer. The noise was deafening. This was it, the thrill I like is finally coming.

Blinking behind the first monster I slashed it and killed it immediately. I repeated this three more times before I heard Naoko’s yell.

The noise died out immediately. No more roaring, no more screeching, only flapping of wings. What the hell did she do? I glanced towards the monsters between the two walls and saw them twitching and obviously screaming in pain, their bodies becoming deformed. What kind of magic was this? This surpasses all known things and it is by far more terrifying than even the vilest magic known to men.

I slashed down the flying monsters alongside Volt-san and Odi-san who kept watch on the ground, just in case Naoko misses some, but no such thing happened. Not even a minute had passed and the monsters stopped twitching remaining still. As new ones approached, they were met with the same end. When I looked over at Naoko again, she was on all fours holding her head and puking.

Poor child… she knew the outcome of this and cannot handle the carnage. Well, if she didn’t feel like this after causing such sight, I would be more worried about her. She must be bound by enormous guilt for causing such massacre. I’ll comfort her later, but right now I can’t help thinking that she is beyond terrifying.
