But the enemy not knowing anything about human combat does not change the fact they know my location, and that they can fire Ether Cannon at me. It’s about two kilometers from here to the top of the mountain. If I were to try to cast an offensive spell at random, I would have to cover a distance that would take a considerable amount of time to traverse, while being exposed to the Ether Canon.

Basically, I’d say I’m at an overwhelming disadvantage. Honestly, if my opponents were BBO players with the same level of knowledge and experience as me, I would have no choice but to retreat. Not only am I outnumbered three to one, I don’t even know what Skills the other two have.

Under normal circumstances, engaging them in this situation is more reckless than brave. If I find out that they have even a little bit of knowledge about human combat, I’m going to run right back. Though that is highly unlikely.

“Let’s see what they do.”

I broke into a run. If I could somehow hide the fact that I was aware of their movements, I could continue walking at the same pace, but it would be impossible to pretend not to notice while I’m heading straight toward the summit.

If that’s the case, I want to close the distance as much as possible while I can. Simply put, it’s difficult to land a spell like Ether Canon on a moving target at a distance. I tried to not charge in a straight line, accelerating rapidly and changing direction repeatedly instead as I made my way to the top of the mountain.

As the enemy watched me, they dropped on their knees. They were preparing for a shot.

When sniping at distances of kilometers, the slightest shift in posture can lead to a miss. So you make sure you fix your posture, minimizing any sort of deviation. A basic technique when using Ether Cannon.

Normally, you would hold your breath before firing to reduce the slight deviation caused by breathing, but at this distance, I can’t even tell if the enemy is holding their breath. I have to fight on the premise that I won’t know when the Ether Cannon will come flying at me.

“Fast Shield.”

I cast a defensive magic spell. It might sound powerful, but it actually belongs to the lowest level of defensive magic, providing almost no real protection. Needless to say, this shield would be easily shattered by a powerful magic like the Ether Canon. Nevertheless, I continued onward, holding the shield created by Fast Shield.

A few seconds later, I spotted a faint glow from the enemy’s location. At about the same time, a ray of light pierced the ground ten meters away from me, followed by a loud roar.

Ether Cannon. As the name suggests, it’s a spell that shoots out cannonballs made of magic.

However, the bullet cannot be seen with the naked eye. At this distance, that spell will have already landed as soon as I confirm it’s been cast. All I can see is the trajectory left by the bullet.

“Missed the first shot, as expected.”

I deactivated Fast Shield. Seeing this move, the enemy would probably think that it was cast to protect me from their attack. As a result, there’s a good chance that they will mistake this magic as having the power to block their assault.

If the enemy cast something like Fire Bomb, which explodes on impact, I could use weak spells to detonate it. Ether Cannon, though, is purely a projectile-type magic that doesn’t produce any explosion. The shield summoned by Fast Shield does nothing against it.

Despite that, I’m still using it. Because there’s a point to it.

It’s highly unlikely for the enemy to realize that this defensive spell is not, in fact, enough to block their attack. They’re too far away to observe the spell, and there are a number of defensive magic that looks similar to it, so it’s difficult to tell them apart.

Make strong magic look weak and weak magic look strong. This is a basic strategy in PvP. No one in BBO would fall for this, but it will probably work in this world.

The basics should remain the same in this world and in BBO. Of course, in BBO, it is assumed that both parties have knowledge of each other’s skills, and they analyze each other’s weapons and Skill composition, but if I tried to apply the same in this world, my enemy wouldn’t even notice the trap I’ve set. If you throw a fake grenade at someone who knows what a grenade is, it’ll work as a bluff, but if the person doesn’t even know what a grenade is, it will just look like you’re throwing a stone.

By BBO’s standards, my current Skill set and equipment are too terrible to be of any use in PvP. Not that there’s any point in comparing this world to BBO, where you could share the work with numerous players to solve problems.

In that game, things that were easy to obtain with a little bit of money can be extremely valuable in this world. Wisdom Stones, for example, were basically just dumped in the market.

Still, I can’t be too careful. The inhabitants of this world may indeed lack the knowledge, but they’re still considered elites. I’m far weaker than from when I was in BBO. A single hit from an Ether Cannon could kill me instantly.

Of course, even if the enemy is much weaker than me, I have no intention of taking it easy on them.

“Magic Wing.”

After confirming that the enemy missed their shot, I cast my flight magic spell. Ethern Cannon has at least a ten-second cooldown. In the meantime, I’m free to move.

In which case, it makes sense to use the fastest way to close the distance. It’s difficult to change heading once flight magic is cast, making me an easy target for snipers.

It would be quite difficult to shoot me down with normal magic spells, but with the speed of an Ether Cannon, it should be easy. After all, it’s a spell that has the accuracy and speed to shoot an apple on the head of a person two kilometers away.

It’s suicidal to use flight magic with a limited trajectory while being hunted by someone who can use such powerful magic. That’s why I used “Magic Wing” just as the enemy missed the attack. At least, that’s what the enemies would think.
