With another, even more wicked smile, Izayoi looked Pritt straight in the eyes. Having her true name invoked like that, she hung the suit coat over her shoulders and revealed a somewhat wry smile.

「Hmm, I wonder about that. Right now I am far away from my home territory, and as far as the Heavenly Army… as far as Devas are concerned, this country and everything in it falls under the jurisdiction of the Greek Pantheon of Gods. Even with something as threatening as the 2nd War for the Sun’s Authority going on, rampaging in the domains other than your own would be a most foolish act, one that could even be taken by the guardians of this land as an attempt of stealing their territory from them. That is why it is in our best interests to remain as cautious as possible not to accidentally incur their wrath.」

「What she said. Also, if someone like Prithvi Mata, the Mother Goddess of the Earth were to do an exceptionally poor job at messing with the land here, there is always a risk of her unintentionally removing or damaging the Divine Seal of the Titans, and it wouldn’t be nice if one or more of those got resurrected in modern times, now would it?」

At first glance it looked like the two of them were making valid points, but Izayoi knew that they were just being evasive. In truth, both of them knew very well how this matter was going to be handled. Right now, the responsibility of creating the means of dealing with the virus rested on the shoulders of the research team from the Hoei Private Academy, the one that Saigo Homura belonged to and for whom he was conducting his research. Until the usefulness of his project, the medical Nanomachines, won’t be confirmed by various tests and clinical trials that were still left for them to go through, then the investor, Everything Company, one of the largest multimillion companies in the world, won’t be able to do anything and the current situation will simply be allowed to continue. But if it turns out that Homura’s creation based on the research left to him by his father will be effective in combating this deadly virus, there was no doubt that his invention would become internationally known, and in consequence, he would undoubtedly go down in history as 「Saigo Homura, a genius who singlehandedly saved the world from an ecological and economical collapse with his nanomachines」. Should that come to happen, further research and development of the nanomachines he created – Star Particle Bodies – would be promoted even further.

「I’m afraid that we cannot share the exact details with you, but what we can tell you is that everything that has been going on until this point was happening according to its pre-established order, meaning that whatever happens in Little Garden, it should not cause any major changes in this world. Everything is heading along the way it is supposed to for the time being, so your return to Little Garden should be an absolute priority for us right now.」

「… I see. So no matter what happens, you’re still insisting on keeping me in the dark?」

The dissatisfaction in Izayoi’s eyes only grew stronger as he continued to glare at Mikado, waiting for him to continue talking, but since he obviously wasn’t going to, he had no choice to do what people were always afraid of him doing: he had to start guessing and filling the blank points himself. His knowledge was severely limited, but bsed on what he did know he could speculate that either there was an interesting Gift game going on or one is to be held in the near future, and they want him to stay out of it, just like the parents who don’t want their hyperactive kid to enter any stores with expensive things on display because they are worried he might break something and they would have to pay for it. Sure enough, someone like him, who has yet to reach adulthood even by human standards must have looked like nothing more but a brat to the literal Gods, but it didn’t mean that he was okay with being treated like that in the slightest.

Seeing him pouting like that, the two Divine Spirits had to give it their all to suppress their laughter. However, if they honestly thought that he would pull out just because someone wanted him to do so or asked him, then they were more than a little naïve. If he was such a wimp, he would never have been summoned to Little Garden in the first place.

With his smile transforming from simply wicked into a straight up evil one, Izayoi took out his own phone and began writing a mail to someone.

「Well, if you don’t want to give me the details, then I guess that’s fine, since its not like I need your info anyway when I have my own way of obtaining them. Also, it would be wise of you not to forget that as long as the source of all the trouble for Earth is the virus itself, then we have the means of dealing with it on our own. Did you forget that the Serpent Staff is in our possession?」

「Huh?… Oh fu…. H-Hey now, what are you planning to do with it?!」

「It’s a secret and I’m not telling~~! Anyway, we will be reaching Crete very soon. Since that island is the Minotaur’s birthplace then we should be able to find some clues regarding him there. And the sooner we get it done and send me back, the better. After all, if anything happened to the little shrimps while I was gone, even I wouldn’t be able to have a good night’s sleep, you kow?」

And he laughed out loud as he turned his back against the other two. Tokuteru folded his newspaper and also smirked sarcastically.

「Oh, so you are worried about Homura’s and the others well being, huh? How surprising.」

「It’s a little more complicated than that. I’m not worried about them, but I do feel responsible for what happened to them. You see, those two, Homura and Suzuka, they are simply not the type of people who should be summoned to Little Garden, ever. They do possess Gifts or powers similar to them, but they are by no means combat-oriented. I don’t know what Queen was thinking when she summoned them there, but with Homura’s and Suzuka’s powers, they won’t be able to win even the simplest of Gift Games.」

Izayoi concluded that that his little 「brother」 and 「sister」 were incapable of holding their own in Gift Games. In his eyes, they were probably more like victims who got dragged into something much bigger than themselves against their will, and Tokuteru understood why he would think that. However, it didn’t change the fact that such an evaluation was rather harsh and careless, even for someone like him, and it had to be commented on.

「Don’t you think that what you said right now was rather… harsh? Or cold-hearted, even? Even when considering the fact that it is coming from someone as brokenly twisted as yourself, I think you’re underestimating them both, and especially Homura. In my personal opinion they are both pretty talented, even though they are both just regular humans.」

「Is that so? May I ask if this is the personal opinion of Indra, the Indian God of War, or perhaps the one belonging to Mikado Tokuteru, a mercenary and their personal acquaintance?」

「Both of them, if you really have to know. Granted, they are surely going to be confused at first, but knowing those three and their ability to overcome any hardship thrown at them, I am sure that they are going to find their own unique ways of going around and winning Gift Games even when faced with overwhelming adversity. Who knows, maybe they ended up getting themselves involved in a Gift Game right after arriving in Little Garden, just like you did all those years ago, Izayoi. Wouldn’t that be an entertaining thought?」

Tokuteru replied to Izayoi’s attempt at mockery with his own words riddled with hidden messages. When he said 「but knowing those three and their ability to overcome any hardship thrown at them」 he purposefully included Kudou Ayato into his evaluation of Saigo Homura and Ayazato Suzuka. But since Izayoi knew nothing about her, all he could do was to shrug his shoulders in a dismissive manner.

「Hmm, we seem to be at an impasse when it comes to opinions. I mean, I know for a fact that Suzuka is going to quickly adapt to the life there since she was always good at it, but I really don’t know about Homura. As far as I remember, he was always quiet, reserved and pretty much passive at everything he was doing ever since he was a little kid.」
