– Lost Continent of Atlantis, ruins of the capital city –

Under the scorching sunshine, which resembled that of the regions with tropical climate in the Outer World, Izayoi just finished his talk over the phone with Homura. The temperature was lower than that of the Amazon rainforest’s jungle of Brazil, but for someone like Izayoi, who was born and raised in the Tokyo Metropolitan Area of Japan, even that amount of heat was still enough to make him feel uncomfortable.

The place he was holed up in now looked like it must have been used as an inn, the breeze coming from the seaside was blowing through the cracks in the walls and through the spaces between the giant leaves of the tropical plants similar to those you could see in the Outer World’s southern countries, which Izayoi used to stop as much of the sun as possible from shining inside this provisional hideout of his. Additionally, Izayoi used his jacket to cover the Black Albino girl who has finally managed to drift off into a shallow sleep next to him, leaving him with just his thin shirt.

「So these are the ruins of the capital city of Atlantis, huh? I have to say, it looks quite different from what I was expecting, and it is certainly a far cry from how its folklore described it.」

He whispered to himself while fanning the girl lightly with a spare palm leaf.

The Capital City of Acropolis. . . the largest city of water across the entire Lost Continent. Supposedly it was known as the most advanced city in the entire region that could boast about possessing ultra-highly developed water-related technology, with its expansive waterways spreading all across the entire city. According to some theories about the place, the irrigation system was so advanced and far-reaching that it could be utilized not only in the developed city areas, but also in the more remote and rural countryside regions. If it really was like that and the irrigation system, which should not have even been known in Western Europe at the time was adopted so well that it surpassed those who were said to be the ones who originally invented it, then it could truly serve as the testament to how far ahead of its times the entire Atlantis really was.

Glancing over the simple map of the area he managed to sketch throughout the last four days, Izayoi began to sort out every little bit of information he managed to get a hold off since he was transported here against his will.

(When it comes to countries and regions adjacent to Greece that owned and utilized the irrigation technology at the same time that Atlantis was supposed to be around. . . they were the countries of the Middle East and Egypt.)

In order to deal with the issue of having relatively dry air, the ancient Greece developed the system of dryland farming. In Western Europe, where the climate was stable, the system that was adopted was the two-field agriculture. However, in the recently published texts left by the Greek philosopher Plato there have been found traces of information that pointed to the fact that the mythical city of Atlantis was already employing the irrigation system into its agricultural development.

If you can recognize the civilized areas by the presence of agricultural ruins, you would be able to tell the exact location where the continent originally existed. When it comes to that, all that they needed to find is the physical evidence that would point to that, and no one was better suited for such a task than Prithvi Mata, the Earth’s Mother Goddess, the leading figure known throughout the mythology of agricultural world as the one who bestowed agriculture upon humanity in the first place. If it is her we are talking about, then she should be able to find even the smallest traces of the irrigational agriculture in these ruins no matter how much time has past and how rough time has been with them. And if only they would be able to find the traces of the irrigational agriculture near the capital city here, they should be able to identify the area where the original civilization of the continent of Atlantis lived.

Suddenly, the Black Albino girl reached out towards Izayoi and grabbed onto his left hand with her weak fingertips. He wondered if it was because her consciousness managed to resurface, but as he realized once he looked at her, that was not the case. She kept holding onto his hand with her trembling hands and hollow eyes. . .

「. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . hot . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . h-help. . . . . . . . . . . . . 」

「. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 」

「. . . . . . . . I. . . . . . . . . . . I don’t want to. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . die. . . . . . . . . 」

Those were the only words she was able to squeeze from her dried-up throat, followed by the weakly repeated 「Help. . . 」as she held onto Izayoi’s hand like it was the last thing that was keeping her alive. Maybe it was due to the fever that was raging throughout her entire body, but she did not seem to recognize who Izayoi was at all. . .

. . . no, that was not the only thing that it was about. Since this girl was used as one of the test subjects in that facility in the Amazon that was most likely conducting experiments with Star Particle Bodies, this probably meant that she either had no family or relatives, or that she was sold by them because they wanted to get rid of her. Whatever the case might be, it would be best to assume that she stayed alone in the world, without having anyone she could have turned to for help. She has been put through a literal hell on Earth that no human being should ever be allowed to experience, and she was probably still trapped in that hell even in her own dreams. For someone like her, who knew nothing but hell throughout probably her entire life, even the dreamworld, the only place where all the children should be safe from all the horrors of the material world, was not a place where she could escape it.

In order to calm her down, Izayoi placed his hand on her forehead and laughed softly.

「Do not worry, pipsqueak. I am here to help you.」

「Rea. . . . . lly. . . . . . ?」

「Yeah, that is why you don’t have to be afraid anymore, so close your eyes and try to catch some sleep, even if only just a little of it. We managed to hitch a ride on the world’s biggest boat, so you will need all the strength you can muster in order to properly enjoy it.」

Maybe it was because Izayoi’s words did help her to calm down and she felt relieved, but the Black Albino girl did exactly like he advised her, closing her cloudy eyes and going back to sleeping quietly again. When he reached out and wiped away her tears with his finger, he did that just in time to avoid being seen by Pritt, who just so happened to come back from her little search expedition.

「Oi, Izayoi! I found the traces you wanted me to look for!」

「Already?! As expected of the Earth’s Mother Goddess! You sure work fast!」

When Izayoi stood up from the Black Albino girl, he saw Prithvi Mata, the Earth’s Mother Goddess with an exceptionally eye-pleasing appearance, standing at the inn’s entrance, not because that was her preferred style of clothing, mind you. Due to their fight against Parashurama in the slum area of Rio de Janeiro her clothes became all torn up, to the point where she had to use most of the scraps she was left with to cover up her rather large chest, and the state of the clothes covering the lower half of her body was no better. Her pants and shoes were pretty much non-existent at this point, showing off her bare feet and exposing the alluring brown skin of her thighs.
