Chapter 13: Let’s Create a Beloved Dungeon, Part 5
When Sariha regained consciousness, she was no longer in a simple room made of bricks, but in the one made of bright bronze bricks and decorated by lavish, expensive looking furniture.
「Oh, have you woken up at last, princess?」
Her father, who was eating salted olives beside her bed, noticed that she woke up, and asked.
「Huh? I…」
「It seems like the exploration of the pyramid left you so exhausted that you fell sound asleep the moment we were done.」
「Pyramid… Dungeon… I see.」
Sariha’s memories came back to her like a crushing wave. After they were finished with the pyramid’s exploration she was so tired that her father had to carry her back to their room in the luxorious inn where they were staying and she fell fast asleep.
「So how was the adventure? Did you liked it?」
「Yes, very! Thank you so much for taking me there, father! There were swords, and fire, and then these monsters came out…」
Completely woken up, she told her father everything she experienced in the Dungeon. He listened to her story patiently, smiling all the time.
「…And at the end was this giant dragon-crocodile thingy who was as big as this in and I was fighting it and I managed to help the king who was captured by it and together we managed to defeat it! I was the first one ever to do it!」
「That is amazing, Sariha! You did a really great job!」
Her father was applauding her, but she felt like there was supposed to be something else, something important that she somehow forgot about. But her memory of the events that came after clearing up the Dungeon was very hazy and she was unable to remember what was that all about.
It surely was something related to the extreme happiness and the feeling of discovering something new that she didn’t know about until today. Something comfy that made her feel like she was rising up into the heavens. Something that was way better than even the annual grand feast at the summer festival, when the waters of the Annyl river were rising.
「Hey, father?」
「What is it, sweetie?」
「If possible, I would like to visit that place sometime again.」
The girl couldn’t remember what she’s been through, but something in the back of her head was telling her that it would be great if she could experience that something again.
「Fuuuu…」
Soaking his body in the hot water, Aur let out a deeply satisfied sigh.
He felt such a bliss as if all of his body fluids were being cleansed of their impurities.
Then, for just a brief moment he could’ve sword that a pure white figure appeared in the empty space in the bath, and it made him jump right up and splash the waves around.
He couldn’t confirm who it was exactly, but there was only one person who could do such a thing.
「Sofia.」
Aur called out his daughter’s name, wiping his wetted face with a towel.
「How was it, daddy? Was it fun?」
She seems to be thinking that she did nothing wrong, and just stares at him with glittering eyes.
「That was, uhm… how should I…. 」
Speaking of fun and excitement, everyone would get excited if there was a beautiful little girl in their bath together with them. (TL Note: I don’t know man, sounds like jailtime to me.)
But he couldn’t just go and tell her something like that, so he just kept that all to himself.
「Was it not good?」
Sofia pouts at Aur’s lack of definitive answer.
「No, no, that is not the case at all. See, I was just wandering, why did you do that?」
「There were essentially three reasons.」
Sofia puts three fingers up into the air and begins to explain her reasons one by one.
「First one was that I was simply happy that there was finally someone who managed to clear my Dungeon.」
「I see. I don’t get it.」
Dungeon was usually not a place that many wanted to intrude, so Aur could not really understand what was so appealing about challenging it. They were normally quite complex and elusive, but for the purpose of this attraction of theirs, they had to make it as simple as possible if people were to enjoy it.
「The second one was that I Sariha was so cute and brave back there and I wanted her valor to be rewarded.」
「Is that so?」
As a Dungeon Master, she was happy that someone was finally able to conquer her creation. Normally I should have been the other way around, but that was Aur’s private opinion. If Sofia was happy about it, then he was happy for her as well.
「And the third one was… because I wanted to see what kind of reward you would give to her, daddy.」
「What did you say?」
「You know, because you told me not to peek at what you do in the bedroom? Of course I would get even more curious!」
Certainly, he told her something like that, but especially for that he took control of the entire room. Peeking at them should’ve been impossible.
「How were you even able to see it?」
「I borrowed Sariha’s eyes for a bit.」
Was it even possible to do such a thing?
It was a common thing for Aur to look at faraway places through the eyes of animals and other creatures, it was one of the easiest and most basic forms of magic. But he have never heard about doing something like that with other humans, and as far as he could tell, that Sariha girl was just a normal human being, not any magical creature or a demon or anything of the sort. That means that Sofia was able to hijack the sight of the creatures that weren’t magical in origin. That was pretty amazing.
He knew that with each passing day she’d be able to do more and more amazing things, but this was on another level entirely. But Sofia looked like it was not that big of a deal to her. Could it be that with time and proper development, everyone would be able to do things like this?
「Hey, daddy?」
Sofia approached Aur. (TL Note: No.)
「I want to do the same thing.」 (TL Note: No child, you don’t want to. Trust me.)
Somehow, that is what Aur expected. (TL Note: *In disturbed Samuel L. Jackson’s voice* : Motherf*cker?)
「We can’t.」 (TL Note: SAFE!)
「Why?」
「Because we are a parent and child.」
While he was answering her, he had doubts about his own words. Even if he says that, it’s not like they were really related by blood. In the first place, he, the Demon Lord and his Demon Kingdom should not be bothered by those kinds of limited ethics.
Then why is it?
Why is it that he felt so repulsed at the thought of what they could be doing together? Why did he felt that he would just devolve into a degenerate if he were to embrace her? (TL Note: Gee, I don’t know, maybe because he is a proper human being after all?)
「Why does it matter?」
She asked with a rebellious voice.
「I’ve already grown up.」
She took Aur’s hand at pressed it against her chest. That bulge no longer belonged to a small child. Although it was not fully mature, it was certainly bigger than Sariha’s.
Everything about her felt more womanly now. If he could, he wanted to touch her endlessly.
But…
「You’re still a child, you can’t discern between love and passion.」
Aur took his hand off of her chest, resisting this urge.
「What do you mean?」
「Do you like me as a parent, or as a man?」
「Well… I….」
Sofia was only able to furrow her brows.
When it came to the concept, she was able to understand it. She knew that Mari’s love for Aur and her love for him were fundamentally different.
But even that seemed to differ greatly from what Lilu felt towards Aur. And not only Lilu. Yunis, Spina, Yana, Yutsu and Tena. With each person and each relationship, the feelings were not identical.
Maybe if there were other men around, she could’ve been able to compare.
「Dad, you’re the only man that I know.」
So she considered Logan and Hoderi to be something else entirely.
「You’re still young and have time, you can take these things slowly, there will come a time when you’ll understand it naturally.」
She is his important daughter. He didn’t want to do something that they could both regret to her.
Aur concluded that those were his feelings.
「Fine then.」
Is it going to cause her to throw a tantrum and dislike him?
When he thought so, she responded brightly. That reaction made Aur shocked and stunned.
「All that I have to do is to make daddy fall in love with me!」
「SAY WHAT?」
That was not all right. Not all right at all.
But before Aur could straighten her up, she disappeared again
