[Charge complete]

A mechanical confirmation reverberated in Jason’s ears.

‘Fire’

Shouting in his mind, he pressed a button on his hand.

-ZUUM-

With a magnetic recoil, he was flung backwards.

A total silence descended on the Altar.

The development of the situation was so fast, that before anyone could react, the mini-cannon had already fired.

-BOOM-

A silence which lasted for micro-seconds but the stifling sensation felt like an eternity for everyone, followed by a spectacular booming sound and a miniature version of a mushroom cloud.

-Crack-

-Crack-

The prestigious mansion, cracked all over, some remote corners of it had already started to descend on the ground, devoid of the majesty it held.

Jason, Kevin and James had simultaneously activated their Linear Descent boosters, propelling their bodies meters above in the air to stay away from the aftershocks.

When the dust and the cloud of gaseous substance cleared, a different view greeted them.

The Angel of Revelation, Angel of Mercy, Angel of Music and the Angel of Death were still standing.

The Angel of Revelation had joined his hands together, forming a praying posture.

There was a faint, golden shield lingering around the Altar.

This was the inherent ability of the Angel of Revelation, ‘The Night of Divine Destiny’, a form of Divine bestowal.

The sins landed gently, this time a bit further from the Altar of Gods.

They each held a different weapon in their hand.

James with a huge shield, Kevin had shurikens moving around him in a circular pattern, Jason with a large combat knife.

That one shot from the mini-cannon had depleted the majority of the energy and it would require a long time to form such an amount of energy.

-Pu-

Khuraymah, knelt on the ground suddenly and started puking blood.

“Father!”

Khushtar shouted holding the shoulders of his father.

Azrael was still seated on her seat, the shield had covered the entire portion of the Altar.

“Interesting, you could imitate the bloodline to such an extent.”

Gazing at the shield and the pillars, she spoke. A hint of amusement could be felt from her voice.

The Altar of Gods was not just a place for gathering.

It was the central part of a large-scale defensive mechanism which relied on bloodline power of the Angels.

Along with the pillars on the Altar, many such pillars were being created in different locations throughout the city.

Each pillar was created with a special method.

The Angel of Revelation was the only person able to imbue the pillars with the special inscription.

All these pillars contained traces of the Angel of Revelation’s power and certain texts engraved on them, which were derived from the book held by him.

These texts all together were linked to each other and would form a large scale chant.

This chant was the actual greater version of the ‘The Night of the Divine Destiny’, which in full power would be able to protect the entire city.

But before the project could complete its construction, Kevin had unknowingly destroyed the central pillar which would act as a control node.

Turning her gaze towards the sins, Azrael stood up from her seat with the scythe in her hand.

-Blink-

Kevin blinked and–

There she was, Azrael in front of her, swinging her scythe like the personification of Death, slowly and beautifully.

Kevin’s consciousness was immediately dragged towards the wonderful motion of that scythe, forgetting everything else.

The very first to react to this situation was Jason, who had already entered into his fighting mode.

He immediately unlocked a small black box the size of a finger and hurled it towards Azrael’s back.

Feeling a sense of danger from behind her, she wiped her scythe backwards with such a fluid movement, which made it seem like an art.

The weapon which seemed as light as a feather in her hand cut the balck box in two.

-Pssh-

Purple flames roared into life and tried to swallow her, but just like ‘Noah’, Azrael parted the flames creating a path in those flames, moving rapidly towards Jason.

It seemed she had fixed her attention on Jason, now.

But by now, both James and Kevin had regained their senses.

Shurikens covered in purple hue went flying towards her, piercing through air creating after- images.

James, placed himself between Jason and her, planting his shield in the ground with a heavy thud.

Swinging her scythe, she sent back the shurikens flying and slashed at the shield.

-Ting-

With a metallic ringing sound, the shield vibrated but it held its position.

-Tch-

Sensing the attacks turning out to be futile, she moved back towards the Altar of Gods.

“Hey you, it seems I would need your help.”

Azrael said, tilting her head towards the others on the Altar.

By this time, the situation with Khuraymah had turned a bit stable with Khushtar and Noor’s help.

They gently nodded towards Azrael.

“Good. You take the one with the shield and you take the one with the flying blades.” She said pointing Noor towards Kevin and Khushtar to James.

“As for me, he is mine.” She said while pointing to Jason and licking her lips in a manner as if she was about to have a delicious meal.

“Move on, then.” Saying so she dashed towards Jason.

Noor and Khushtar too dashed towards their targets.

Khuraymah who was seated on the seat near the pillar of Angel of Mercy, coughed and took out the book from his left side.

He placed it in front of him and the book gently started to float with a little light.

-Flicker-

With a flickering noise, the pages of the book started to flutter and stopped at a certain page.

He took a deep breath and folded his legs on the seat. Placing his hands on the knees taking a meditative pose, he started to read the texts made of unknown language.

As if guided by an unknown greater power, a surge of power could be felt as the chant echoed in the surroundings.

Boosted by this unknown power, Noor and Khushtar felt their strength increasing which boosted their confidence.

Noor, directly unleashed a series of tapping actions in the air, which seemed to make it reverberate in a certain manner producing a faint whistle, which moved towards Kevin.

Kevin braced himself for the impact and crossed his hands instinctively.

The attack arrived, he was pushed back a few steps, but that wasn’t all.

His ears started to ring, he was losing his balance.

It seemed the attack earlier had targeted his inner ears responsible for balance.

He tried his best, but the attacks kept on coming. Even if the might of the attack on a physical scale was not that much, they could not be ignored.

On the other hand, Khushtar had the blood of the Angel of Mercy, who was also responsible for rain and thunder. He had developed a close combat fighting style.

He was exchanging blows with James, his every move creating a roar of thunder and as smooth as flowing water.

James was trying his best to defend, but somehow the opponents speed and power was increasing bit by bit, as if the opponent was using his own momentum to create a greater force.

The fights between Jason and Azrael seemed to be most intense.

The clash between the huge scythe and the smaller combat knife would end up creating ripples in the air which would last for a few seconds.

“Hahahaha, Yes, that’s it, keep it up. Yes.”

A hysterical roar along with a maniacal laugh that was the response which Jason got after a few clashes from Azrael, she seemed to be enjoying this fight.

Jason didn’t let it bother him, instead he was worried more about James and Kevin.

Although it looked like the situation was in favour of the sins, he knew that it was just the beginning. Jason was depleting his energy reserves and stamina rapidly meanwhile such was also the situation with Kevin and James.

After all they could not absorb energy, unlike their opponents.

-Clash-

With another clash, Jason was hurled backwards.

Damn, how is her strength increasing. That is why bloodline powers could not be underestimated. But still such an increase seems absurd-

Thinking, he parried another attack and was hurled backwards.

Suddenly he moved his attention towards the Angel of Revelation.

Found it.

It seemed like the Angel of Revelation was using his powers to boost the powers of other Angels.

-Clink-

Deflecting another attack he utilized the momentum of the attack and moved towards the location of the Angel of Revelation.

“Not so fast.”

Azrael spoke as she once again utilized her speed and appeared before Jason.

As if Jason had expected such a move. He threw another black box towards her.

-Tch-

With another chuckle, Azrael was forced to slash the box into two, but this time she could not part the flames like ‘Noah’.

There!!

Shouting loudly in his mind, he appeared before Khuraymah.

He pressed a button on his wrist pad and gathered all his powers and stabbed towards him shouting.

“Die, Old man!’
