Nanana’s Buried Treasure Volume 3 Chapter 6.2

But well, I guess I need to accept that he got here this far alone without any hint unlike us. Ikusaba-san is probably a bigshot when it comes to Nanana’s collection like president Yuiga said. 

  ｢So,president Yuiga, how are we going to split?｣

  ｢Yuu and I. Yama-kun and Tensai.｣

  ｢…..I see.｣

  ｢It seems like I am being pushy but like I said, I’m not planning on competing with you this time. I grouped us like this since our partners are compatible with us.｣

Ibara-senpai’s eyes opened wide at president Yuiga’s words. 

  ｢C..compatible, so Isshin-sama thinks of me like that❤︎｣

  ｢Let me rephrase it. Yuu isn’t compatible with anyone so I had to pick her unwillingly.｣

  ｢Uuu, you are so mean Isshin-sama. But I feel lucky that I’m with you.｣

I heard her positive reply and thought that she’s a strong woman. 

  ｢And I think the main players this time are Yama-kun and Tensai-kun.｣

  ｢Eh, us?｣

  ｢It you guys could go full on if there isn’t anyone holding you back, right?｣

You don’t have to underestimate yourself like that. 

  ｢It isn’t like…..｣

I was going to say that it wasn’t like that but Tensai cut my words abruptly. 

  ｢Understood, I’ll follow Yuiga-dono’s instruction.｣

  ｢So, it’s alright if we leave Yuiga-dono behind and clear this ruin on our own right?｣

  ｢Sure, I want you guys to do that. But I want our situations to be aligned so do contact us before you open up the treasure box. It would be frustrating but we’ll retreat then.｣

There are two types of traps in a ruin. The first type are the ones that are set on the route to the treasure box and the second type of traps are the ones that activate after the Nanana’s collection is taken out of the treasure box. The first type can be tested cautiously through trial and error but the second one activates abruptly after the treasure is taken out of the box so we don’t know what’s going to happen. 

  ｢Well then, we’ll go clear the ruin just like how you want us to.｣

Tensai smiled boldly, it seems like she is full of confidence.

  ｢Hey, Isshin-sama was it alright for you to be in same group as me?｣

Yuu asked Isshin nervously, as they walked along the stone path. 

  ｢Of course, I feel like I’d be the one who’s going to cause you trouble.｣

  ｢No, no, I don’t think something like that…..｣

Isshin noticed that Yuu was anxious so he inquired. 

  ｢is there something wrong?｣

  ｢It’s that…..I couldn’t understand that whole deal about letting Yama and shorty handle everything.｣

  ｢Was there something wrong about it? This ruin is a ruin that’s giving Ikusaba-san a hard time. Even I would be extra cautious.｣

  ｢But leaving it to two second year student is…..｣

  ｢Those two are skilled, far more than I am.｣

  ｢No that isn’t true, Isshin-sama is an amazing person.｣

  ｢Thank you Yuu, but that is the reality. In current situation both of them are on higher level than I am.｣

Yuu couldn’t say anything back after hearing that. 

  ｢And I think this is our chance to outsmart Ikusaba-san, I would use all the resources I can use in order to get the desired result. I thought that the thing I need to do is thinking of a way to keep both of them alive.｣

  ｢I didn’t know that you had planned that far ahead.｣

Yuu answered while feeling Yuiga Isshin’s enmity and complex feelings for Ikusaba Hiiyo.

  ｢There’s also something that’s bothering me so let’s take time and cautiously move forward unlike Yama-kun.｣

  ｢Hey, Tensai. What do you think?｣

We followed president’s Yuiga’s instruction and went left. 

  ｢Think about what?｣

  ｢Why do you think president Yuiga made our groups like this?｣

  ｢Like Yuiga-dono said, it’s to make things more efficient.｣

True, I think I would be fine teamed with president Yuiga but if I had been grouped with Ibara-senpai then it would have been disastrous. It isn’t something exclusive to me, the same can be said about Tensai. 

  ｢I think out of four of us this group is the most compatible.｣

  ｢Well, yeah.｣

After answering, Tensai gasped and turned red. 

  ｢Let me tell you that it’s compatibility regarding how efficiently we can clear the ruin. It doesn’t have any other deep meaning behind it!｣

  ｢Why are you all red and emphasizing on that? I know that much.｣

  ｢O..oh, alright. It’s fine then.｣

What the hell is wrong with her turning all red. 

  ｢So…so, you think that Yuiga-dono has some ulterior motive behind this combination? So what do you think his motives are?｣

  ｢It would sound extreme but I feel like President Yuiga wants things easy for himself and wants us to go get the Nanana collection…..Well that might have been too harsh on him. I think that he wants us to go first.｣

  ｢Alright, I understood most of what you are trying to say. So? What about it?｣

Tensai’s reply made it clear that she thought of it like that too.

  ｢No…..there isn’t any meaning behind it but.｣

  ｢Jyuugo really wants to know what the other person is thinking in situations like this. Well, that’s the wonderful thing about you.｣

  ｢Eh, am I being insulted?｣

  ｢No, I am praising you. Having trust issues, doubting everything, and you only being able to think about outsmarting others is quite a pessimistic approach. You are the ideal villain that roams in the demiworld.｣

  ｢Alright, now I’m sure that you are insulting me.｣

  ｢No, like I said. I am praising you. It’s because you of your abnormal character that you are my rival.｣

  ｢that’s really the worst way to evaluate someone. And don’t come to conclusion that I am someone with an abnormal character on your own.｣

  ｢No matter what the case, it doesn’t change the fact that Yuiga-dono has set up an ideal condition for us to clear the ruin. So, we need to respond to it by producing results. What Yuiga-dono’s ulterior motives are isn’t something that should concern us. We need to do what we can do, right?｣

Tensai is right. It isn’t a good thing to keep doubting someone like this. I reflected upon my actions and kept walking. We quickly came to an open space. It was a square room. 

  ｢…..Seems like there’s nothing here.｣

I became cautious for a moment but I couldn’t spot anything strange. The only thing I could see was the passage at the other end of the room. 

  ｢well then, let’s move Jyuugo.｣

We left the first room without anything happening to us. After a while we saw the path branching off again. 

  ｢There isn’t an option for us to part ways here. So, which way should we go?｣

  ｢Left.｣

  ｢What’s your reasoning behind left?｣ 

  ｢I just want to keep going left and find out what awaits us. ｣

  ｢I see, we’ll do that then.｣

We walked for a while and reached a similar room but again, it had nothing inside. 

  ｢What the hell is happening?｣

  ｢Let’s keep moving.｣

Nothing happened as we passed the room and reached the end of the room. We kept going and saw the path branching left and right again. We chose the left one due to Tensai’s decision. We reached the third square room and this was when we saw a change. The other side of the room didn’t have a passage, it was a dead end….. No, if you look carefully you can see that the passage has been blocked by a stone wall. At the center of it, a rectangular pillar that was at the height of my chest had bulged out. 

  ｢Um? Something is written on it.｣

Survive till the count of thirty only then will the path open for thee. Whoever challenges this room may lay their hand on me.

  ｢Hm, so something is going to happen if I put my hand on it.｣

  ｢So, what ar……｣

Bam!

  ｢Tensai-chaaan, why did you touch it without talking things through?｣

  ｢I touched it in order to know, seems like this ruin is still alive.｣

You might be wondering what that loud noise was, it was the sound of the passage behind us closing. 

Suddenly something came flying towards us. 

  ｢Woah!｣

I dodged it abruptly and looked at the wall behind me. It was an arrow that came flying. 

  ｢Hm, so we have to dodge the arrows that come flying towards us from all directions for thirty seconds.｣

  ｢Stop analyzing it with a calm face!｣

I pulled her arm and made her duck.
