Ikusaba laughed boldly, Tetsu was holding his right hand that had dropped the sword in surprise. What just happened? 

The swing from before should have severed Ikusaba’s torso, the distance and the blade’s path were perfect but it didn’t cut him. 

No, Tetsu hadn’t missed his target. Ikusaba had disappeared, It was only for a moment when the katana was about to touch Ikusaba. Ikusaba appeared once again in a crouching position once the sword had passed. Did he just crouch and dodge it? And he couldn’t see it? No, it really looked like he had disappeared. What was that? Did I miscalculate the timing? No that can’t be, I swung the sword with perfect timing. 

An incomprehensible moment of void. It was really eerie. 

  ｢What wrong? Hurry up and come at me.｣ 

Tetsu took his sword after being provoked by Ikusaba but Tetsu couldn’t go into the offensive. If he goes in unprepared he would be thrown again. He could still feel the pain and the numbness from the previous throw. On top of that the pain in his right hand didn’t allow him to hold his sword firmly. Seems like his hand was twisted when he got thrown. It was similar to jūdō’s throwing technique but not quite. Is it something like aikido or jujutsu? 

  ｢You use a unique technique.｣

Tetsu was trying to decipher Ikusaba’s technique and Ikusaba laughed, ｢What I’m doing is a game of strength at the end. So, I have come to learn martial art like this.｣

Tetsu couldn’t understand what he meant by that. 

  ｢So, that’s how you know that technique?｣

  ｢I’s an ideal move for me. Observing the opponent and using their power.｣

  ｢You have a weird preference.｣

  ｢One has no value if they have no preference.｣

  ｢I agree.｣

Tetsu put the sword into the sheath, stabilized his breathing, and put his hand on the sword’s handle.

  ｢Lai is it?｣

  ｢A quick deathblow, that’s my preference.｣

  ｢Striking the opponent before the opponent could strike.Killing the opponent with a fast blow. I see but you’d be all exposed if you miss it.｣

  ｢If it doesn’t miss, the opponent dies and if I miss, I die. Someone has to die after the sword has been drawn thus it is a deathblow.｣

  ｢So it is a one shot one kill, you are like an old school samurai aren’t you, boyfriend-kun? ｣

  ｢Your technique is something similar isn’t it? Tricks like that aren’t popular anymore.｣

  ｢You are being narrow minded. In this era of eco-friendliness, my technique is at the forefront. I’m using my opponent’s wasted energy to my advantage, which is really low cost and efficient. ｣

  ｢Then I’ll kill you and be at the forefront. I’ll cut off the waste from its root.｣

  ｢I see, that’s an interesting way to think. But don’t speak of the impossible so loudly, you’ll be the one who’s going to be ashamed at the end.｣

Tetsu took his stance with his hand on the handle and this time Ikusaba took a proper fighting stance. Both of them stared at each other with their guards up. 

  ｢Officer, over here!｣

They both looked at the source of the voice.

Yun who was ran away a few moments ago was a bit away shouting. 

  ｢Tsk, that brat called the cops. Hey, boyfriend. It’s the end I’ll be going now.｣

  ｢Yeah, do that. I don’t want to deal with the police either.｣

Ikusaba picked up his coat and ran away. Tetsu watched him run away and he quickly hid his sword in a bush nearby. 

Yun came running towards Tetsu. 

  ｢Tesu! Are you ok?｣

｢Yeah, what about you?｣

  ｢Yeah, I’m fine since you were with me!｣

Tetsu felt relieved hearing that. 

  ｢Leaving that aside, where are the police?｣

  ｢Aa, that was a lie! I thought he would run away if I shouted like that! And you don’t want to deal with the police do you!?｣

Seems like it was just Yun’s quick wit in action. 

  ｢Sorry, I let him escape.｣

Tetsu looked at Ikusaba’s escape route and apologized. 

Yun shook her head and said, ｢No, no. I’m glad that you are safe! And…..like I am really happy that you came.｣

It made Tetsu quite happy that Yun was smiling brightly. But at the same time he could feel the rage inside him. Rage against that man and rage against himself for being weak. If they kept fighting like that, could he have won?

He asked himself, feeling a sharp pain in his right hand but he could not find a satisfactory answer. 

What the hell even was that? 

The weird dodging skill that Ikusaba showed him was bothering Tetsu. Ikusaba Hiiyo, the man after Yun. He knew that his organisation, Three Skulls, was being led by a female boss called Kurosu Sansa. 

Sansa had only revealed her identity to the people she trusted the most including Tetsu. She hasn’t revealed her identity even to Yun. 

Who is this Ikusaba Hiiyo? 

  ｢For now, let’s just report this to the elder sister.｣

  ｢Yun-chan got assaulted!?｣

  ｢The culprit is that man that we met in the arcade, Ikusaba Hiiyo.｣

I got called out by Tetsu during lunch break on monday and now I’m with him on a desolate rooftop. Tetsu told me what had happened and it surprised me to my core. 

  ｢Eh, wait, wait. Why would Ikusaba-san assault Yun-chan?｣

I can’t understand his motives at all. 

  ｢No idea. I can only deduce that he had marked her in the arcade.｣

Well, Yun-chan is cute so maybe it’s something like that…..oh I get it, Ikusaba-san is a lolicon. 

Stare

  ｢Hm? What are you looking at?｣

  ｢Come to think of it, that dude is despicable! It makes me angry!｣

  ｢I’m glad we are on the same page, we can wrap things up quickly then. Yama Jyuugo, I have a request.｣

  ｢A request?｣

  ｢Use whatever means you can and never let Ikusaba Hiiyo near Yun again.｣

  ｢Eh, wait. How am I supposed to do that?｣

  ｢I want to shred him into pieces myself but I need to concentrate more on protecting Yun.｣

  ｢But it’s a stalker assault so shouldn’t contact the cops? ｣

  ｢That wouldn’t be a good idea considering how we are.｣

  ｢Oh, yeah.｣

True, Tetsu-kun is from the Tsukuyomi street so he has many secrets that he wants to keep away from the cops. I can’t point fingers at others on this matter though. 

  ｢Do you have any objections against it?｣

  ｢No, not at all. I’ll do it happily. Since it’s for Yun-chan and on top of that it’s a request from you. So, I want you to tell me everything properly.｣

I started into his eyes seriously. 

  ｢Yama Jyuugo. No, Jyuugo, I need to apologize. Asking for your help is not my idea  as you would have guessed.｣

Ah, just as I thought. Tetsu-kun cares a lot about Yun-chan. Everyone knows why he cares so much. So, it feels weird that tetsu-kun would ask me to help him out with something related to Yun-chan. Tetsu-kun definitely is the type of person who’d try to solve everything by himself. 

So, from that I could think of one thing…..

  ｢Is it an order from Batako-san?｣

  ｢Yeah, elder sister said,『 Leave it to Yama Jyuugo.』｣

  ｢Wait, she used my name!?…..Tetsu-kun, did you tell her my name?｣

  ｢No, She already knew it.｣

  ｢That’s scary! Seriously, Batako-san is really scary!｣

That really scares me, who is Batako-san?

  ｢To be honest I don’t know what elder sister is thinking telling me to ask an ordinary student like you to do something like that.｣

  ｢Haha, yeah I think so too.｣

How much does Batako-san know about me?

What should I do now? To be honest I don’t want to be in anything related to Batako-san anymore. It would be wise to reject this request if it is from her…..

  ｢Oh and if you do this she will be paying the money on your behalf for the undercover transaction from the other day.｣

  ｢I’ll take that offer!｣

I gave Tetsu-kun a good business smile. It can’t be helped, I need to pay the amount worth two months of my part-time job’s pay. I was going to reject Batako-san’s job and was going to take it as Tetsu-kun’s request anyway. So, the end result is the same. 

And if I look at it from other perspective, I now have an excuse to beat up Ikusaba-san…..No, it is for Yun-chan and Tetsu-kun, it’s not like I am doing it out of my personal grudge because Ikusaba-san is annoying or anything. Yeah. 

  ｢I’m counting on you, Jyuugo.｣

I need to give my best for Tetsu-kun who has started to call me by my given name. 

  ｢Sure, leave beating up Ikusaba-san to me.｣

This is how I was trusted with getting Ikusaba-san away from Yun Chan. 

So, what should I do first?

I have decided to gather information first, I went straight to the adventure club after school. 

  ｢Good afternoon.｣

  ｢Hello, Yama-kun.｣

It has been a while since the last time I was here, president Yuiga greeted me with his usual smile. 

There were three people from the third year and one more student apart from the club president. 

  ｢Hm, D’arc? What are you doing here?｣

It was D’arc the admirable attendant. 

He had the same cute smile from the morning, ｢Tensai told me the reason thanks to you.｣

D’arc thanked me. Seems like he was able to patch things up with Tensai. I didn’t ask what the reason was, I don’t care about that idiot anymore. 

President Yuiga nodded after listening to D’arc. 

  ｢I heard that Tensai-kun has been absent since the last week, it worried me so I wanted to ask Hoshino-kun what the matter was.｣

I see, that explains why he’s here. 

  ｢And this has been bothering me since a few moments ago…..Tsurezure-senpai, what’s up with that injury?｣

Tsurezure-senpai was sitting on the chair with a sour look. His head was covered in bandages and the right leg had plaster on. 

  ｢You don’t have to worry about it, I just fell from the rooftop trying to run away.｣

That’s a weird reason. 

  ｢So, did something happen? Yama-kun?｣

  ｢Ah, yes. I wanted to ask my sempai regarding that.｣

  ｢What’s up with being so formal?｣

  ｢Do you know someone called Ikusaba Hiiyo?｣

The three seniors turned pale upon hearing that name. 

  ｢Eh, what’s up with that reaction?｣

  ｢I’m the one who wants to ask questions now. I want to know why we got to hear Ikusaba-san’s name from your mouth in a time like this.｣

Seems like the president has had something with Ikusaba-san too. 

  ｢So it’s…..｣

So, I told president Yuiga everything about the things that had happened till now after meeting Ikusaba-san. That he came to Nanana-chan the other day, that he had a Nanana collection with him. Yun-chan, a first year student got assaulted by him yesterday and that it seems like she’s being targeted. And that he has been tasked to keep Ikusaba-san away from yun-chan. 

  ｢I’m planning on negotiating with Ikusaba-san but criminals who stalk people don’t listen to you until they are beaten up……hey are you listening?｣

  ｢So, she was assaulted yesterday on her way back from the south red mall…..I see, so that’s how it is.｣

It seemed like my conclusion about Ikusaba-san wasn’t even reaching his ears. President Yuiga pondered and looked at Tsurezure-senpai. Tsurezure-senpai nodded. 

Hm? What was that about? But well I need to get the information first. 

  ｢It seems like Ikusaba-san was in our school till last year and knows quite a lot about the Nanana collection. So I thought that you would know something about him.｣

  ｢That inference is correct.｣

  ｢So, you know about Ikusaba-san?｣

  ｢Quite a lot.｣

President Yuiga showed me a picture. 

  ｢Ikusaba Hiiyo was the vice president of the first year of the adventure club and the second president of the club. And he is someone who destroyed the club once.｣
