We put the stone pillar (which had the switch) to our back and cautiously observed the walls around us. It seems like the holes open up in the walls and the arrows come flying out of the holes. 

The arrows kept coming out as I was analyzing its mechanism. I was dodging them and was helping out Tensai who could barely move. I pulled her arm, I pushed her head down and kept dodging the arrows together. We kept moving around avoiding the arrows and eventually the arrows stopped and then we heard a sound similar to a doorbell. It seems like thirty seconds have passed. 

  ｢…Did it end?｣

The stone pillar that was behind us started sinking slowly into the floor. At the same time, the entrance to the passage that closed opened up as did the exit on the opposite side of the room. 

  ｢Phew, that was close.｣

I slapped her head since it was her fault to begin with. 

  ｢Hey! What was that for!｣

  ｢It’s for touching everything you see! Give me a moment to prepare myself before you do something like that!｣

  ｢I’m sorry about that, I’ll reflect upon my actions.｣

She becomes honest when it comes to things like this. 

  ｢Oi. Let’s hurry up and move from here, you useless piece of trash.｣

We went out of the room and started walking along the passage. We found a place where the roads split again so we took the left path again. We kept walking and we came out to a room again. 

The fourth room was similar to the previous room, there was a circular pillar at the center of the room. The pillar’s height was up to my chest. The passage on the other side of the room was closed so I looked into the stone pillar again. 

I question the challenger, the time limit is ten minutes. Whoever has the courage to solve the riddle may lay their hand on me.

  ｢What is this? What is it about?｣

I looked at the words to understand what it meant but again Tensai touched the stone pillar.

Boom!

  ｢Oi, not this shit again!｣

The passage from where we came closed just like how it was the last time and this time countless, sharp needles came out of the walls from both sides. On top of that the walls on both sides started moving towards us. 

  ｢Eh, what? So to sum it up, if we don’t solve some kind of riddle, we are going to get skewed!?｣

A portion of the pillar sank down and new writing emerged on it. 

Question, what will you see if you stay under a hole without thinking anything?

The idiot who had touched the pillar without anything smiled boldly after witnessing me panic. 

  ｢It seems like we are in an unfortunate situation, Jyuugo. And since I’m a useless person, I don’t know what the answer is. So, I’m depending on you for the answer. Please do something about it, Jyuugo. Please enlighten this useless person with the answer.｣

Damn you Tensai, she is merrily smiling in a situation like this. This confident aura of hers…..can it be that she already knows the answer?

Tensai kept playing with me and eventually I bowed down and apologized. She forgave me and answered the riddle with ease.

The bell for the correct answer rang and the countless needles went back and the walls started retreating till they were at their original positions. I asked why it was the correct answer, it turns out that it was because you were under 穴(hole) in state of 無(ム)心(mindlessness) thus the answer was 窓(window). 

I didn’t get it even after the explanation. 

  ｢Let’s go, you useless piece of trash.｣

She sneered and patted my shoulder. I swore in my mind that I would never curse her again. We went out of the room into the passage. We kept walking for a while but we didn’t encounter any branching point. 

  ｢There’s only one path going to the right.｣

There’s a curved path similar to the branching point but this time that curve was the only option. 

  ｢This means that…..｣

  ｢That this is the far left side of the paths.｣

One the other side, the situation of the team waiting outside of the ruin was like this. 

  ｢Here, Tsurezure-senpai.｣

D’arc, who had bought two juices from the vending machine with a hint in the next building, gave one to Kagetora who was sitting on a bench. 

  ｢Sorry for the inconvenience, Hoshino-kouhai.｣

D’arc and Kagetora were sitting on a bench a bit away from the athletic apparel store waiting for others to contact them.

Kagetora sipped his juice and D’arc smiled gently at him.

This was the first time that D’arc and Kagetora were alone like this. Kagetora is usually absent and doesn’t show up in the clubroom so for D’arc he is a senior who is full of mysteries. There was something that D’arc really wanted to ask. 

  ｢Tsurezure-senpai, are you a ninja?｣

He asked curiously and his query didn’t have any other reason apart from his curiosity. The moment Kagetora heard this, his face froze in shock. 

  ｢H..how do you know!?｣

This was when D’arc realized that Kagetora was hiding it. 

  ｢There isn’t a deep reason behind it, it just felt like it…..｣

  ｢I see, you’ve got quite the keen observation, Hoshino-kouhai. Now that the cat is out of the bag, there is no reason for me to keep hiding it. Yes, I am a ninja.｣

Kagetora said it with his usual grumpy expression which confused D’arc not knowing if he was joking or not. 

  ｢So…..is it like ninja have a master that they’ve chosen and they serve them with their life?｣

He asked his senpai who was also a servant type. 

  ｢Hm. It seems like you ,who are a foreigner, have some misconceptions. Ninja provide their servitude based on the contract they make with their master. In foreigner terms, we are like freelance mercenaries. In simpler terms, we work for money.｣

  ｢So, do you have a contract with someone?｣

  ｢No. I’m still a trainee who’s only halfway to being a full ninja, I don’t have a contract with anyone. I am in charge of collecting information in the adventure club but that’s working for my personal interest.｣

  ｢I see.｣

  ｢The moment I am considered as a full-fledged ninja, I’d need find someone to make a contact with but that’s something that I have to worry about in a distant future. ｣

Seems like ninjas were a bit different than how D’arc used to think. 

  ｢So, it wouldn’t matter who the person is as long as the person pays you?｣

D’arc inquired and Kagetora nodded.

  ｢Hm.｣

  ｢That line is kinda erotic.｣

  ｢…..Wha?｣

  ｢Nevermind that, I was just talking to myself. Back to our topic, the answer to your query is affirmative. But isn’t that the case with you too? I’ve heard that you are Ikkyuu-kouhai’s attendant. Aren’t you the one who’s good with anyone as long as the person pays you?｣
