Volume 10 Chapter 5 Part 7

「Let’s go.」

「Go, desu!」

We proceed under Miria’s lead.

The monsters are said to have appeared in the vicinity of the waterfall, so I have Durandal prepared.

Everyone is following Miria. We advance through the woods on a pathway. Before long, the pathway narrows down to a simple animal trail.

Because the waterfall is no longer in the Guild’s use, no one would like to go there unnecessarily, hence the state of the road.

When we move deeper into the woods, it turns into a forest. Even the animal trail, which was narrowed down from the pathway, has disappeared, but we continue to advance nonetheless.

Durandal has turned into a sickle but we continue to advance.

We advance on the pathway which is no longer a pathway. There’s no pathway in front of us, and there’s no pathway behind us either. It’s all forest.

Ahh, nature. Ahh, Miria. Do you really know where the waterfall is? Does she even know that she knows?

I’m sure that she never came this far for fishing. I am certain of that.

I really wanted to say that but I decide to keep quiet and just follow the rest silently.

The other three are following along without complaining. I knew I should have asked of an adventurer who has visited the waterfall before for help.

As the doubts began to rise at the back of my head, the forest opened up a bit after a while, and then…

「There seems to be a river ahead, master.」

Although it’s not wide, it isn’t narrow enough to be called a stream, so I guess that it can be called a river. Because there’s a waterfall nearby, it’s natural for there to be a river. Was Miria following the sound of the river the entire time?

「It’s a river. R-i-v-e-r.」

「River, desu.」

「The waterfall seems to be further upstream.」

「Let’s go then.」

Now that we are close to the river bank, it has become easier to walk. Since there’s a river, there must be a waterfall, so I’m feeling better. While peering into the river water, Miria advances. Maybe there are fish in the water as well?

「X X X X X X X X X X X X X X X X X X X X X.」

It’s not a fish, but something definitely seems to be up ahead.

The moment I thought that, a bee has appeared right in front of us.

It’s a Grass Bee.

There’s a Grass Bee at the other end of the woods. Because it’s yellow and black in color, it’s visible inside the forest even from a distance.

The Grass Bee Lv.1 closes in on us. The Grass Bees here seem to actively attack people whenever it sees them.

We have walked a distance off Hafen. Is there a Labyrinth nearby? Or is it their route that the normally travel through?

「Here it comes.」

「It’s alright.」

I have Roxanne stay put and step forward myself. I take it on with Durandal which had turned into a mowing sickle.

When I slash the bee, it collapses.

One hit. That is all that it took.

「As expected of Master.」

「So the Guild seems to have abandoned this waterfall because the Grass Bees appeared.」

According to Sherry, this ascetic training ground has been abandoned due to the Grass Bees.

Most of the people performing the ascetic training to become shrine maiden must be young and low-levelled, so there can be no unnecessary risk involved.

If someone died during the ascetic training, it would be a big problem.

When we move further upriver, there was a waterfall. The sound of the falling water can be heard.

Although it’s not a big waterfall, it’s a waterfall of a reasonable size nonetheless. It spans over a ten-meter-wide area.

Its height is about three meters. There’s also an adequate quantity of water.

「It’s quite a big waterfall.」

「I guess.」

Roxanne nods.

「Of course, that’s why the Priests’ Guild used it.」

Sherry says affirmatively. If the waterfall were too small, it would be difficult for the Guild to use it as an ascetic training ground.

「Wow, desu.」

「I think it’s a magnificent waterfall.」

If it’s this high, Vesta won’t have any problems.

「Then, when the clothes are going to be ready, we can stay here.」

「Yes. I think it’s a splendid training ground.」

It seems to be fine from the perspective of the experienced Sherry , so there should be no problems.

Now that we checked the place out, it was time for us to go home. After that, until the day the clothes are ready, we continued to fight on the thirty-fifth floor.

On the day the clothes were finished, we went to the clothing store in the Imperial City to pick them up and changed into them at home.

The clothes are pure white silk tops. They are all dressed in matching white clothes. By the way, Sherry’s clothes are the same price as everyone else’s. Well, there was no special charge for Vesta, so it can’t be helped.

They all look neat because of the white clothes. Although it’s not as fitting on the body as a kimono, it still looks strangely sexy. There’s just one sheet of fabric on top of the undergarment.

The seam on Roxanne’s and Vesta’s chests is loose. They look savory as hell.

At some places on the arms and the shoulders, it’s see-through. It feels same as seeing the bra-line through the shirt of a high school girl, but there are no bras here, so no bra-line can be seen.

The only undergarment they’re wearing underneath is the pumpkin pants. I want to push them down but I restrain myself after I remind myself of the purpose of this visit.

Patience. Be patient.

I moved to a waterfall after I had finished my preliminary inspection. First, I walk around and clean up the Grass Bees, since there were several of them around. They don’t come out in large numbers at once, but if left unchecked, they’re going to get in our way.

We need to stay vigilant at all times.

It’s cool near the waterfall in the forest. There is a certain chill in the air, so swinging Durandal around is just the right kind of exercise to warm myself up.

I’m glad it’s still summer. I don’t want to go to the cold just to get a Job. If it was cold, it would have been a terrible sight.

「Do I have to stand in line with the waterfall so that the falling water strikes my head?「

「Yes. It’s said that it eradicates impure thoughts from your mind and unites you with the god. After you unite with the god, you receive a holy power, and that power will allow you to heal those whom you hold dear.」

Sherry teaches me the steps.

There were some parts in her explanation full of mysticism which I just decided to ignore.

「Can you demonstrate it to me, please?」

「O-Okay. I couldn’t become a shrine maiden, though.」

「It’s alright, you just have to show us the steps ho to do this.」

「Err… Umm… That… We need someone to be on the lookout up the waterfall.」

I urge Sherry to give us a demonstration, but she lacks confidence once again, even though it’s all good.

「Well then, I’ll be on the lookout.」

When Roxanne volunteers, Sherry resignedly enters the basin of the waterfall. The white clothing, now wet, sticks to her skin.

Like I thought, the white, thin silk is see-through.

Ooh!

No, don’t!

I must not lose sight of the purpose.

I take my clothes off, too. It’s all for the sake of the purpose. The falling water continues to strike Sherry.

While the white splashes were scattering off her head, she was withstanding the force of the water.

If it’s this season, the temperature of the water won’t be an issue.

Roxanne and Vesta are taking turns on the lookout and observing Sherry.

I’m not watching just Sherry. I’m paying attention to the surroundings, too.

But I can’t see clearly through the waterfall.

「Fish, desu.」

A certain someone is on the lookout for something totally else.

Before long, Sherry comes out of the waterfall.

The water is dripping off her. The white clothes, which are now completely wet, are sticking to her skin.

Don’t. Don’t do it. Don’t lose sight of the purpose of coming here!

「It should be something like this.」

「Is that so? I’ll be next then. Vesta, take this sword. I’ll leave the monsters to you.」

I ask of Vesta and pass Durandal onto her.

I try not to look at the girls and enter the basin.

The purpose comes first. Don’t get caught up in the evil thoughts.

The basin of the waterfall is about one meter deep.
