Chapter 2: Takenaka Hanbei Appears!

After being proposed to by Azai Nagamasa, Nobuna’s decision in regards to this marriage was: 「Attacking Mino is what’s the most important, so we will put this matter aside for now」.

It’s still uncertain if she will marry Nagamasa or not, but this reply will at least ensure that the Omi province will not disturb Owari while Nobuna is going to be attacking Mino. Though this reply seems politically motivated, from what could be seen from Nobuna herself, she does not seem to care about the marriage at all.

For Nobuna, this was the first marriage proposal she received in her lifetime, so she’s sure to be confused and will not know what to do. But after looking at Yoshiharu, who had secretly decided to say nothing about this matter until after he had achieved great feats during the attack on Mino, Nobuna could not bear it.

「Though both are of the same species, why does our monkey differ so much from Omi’s Saruyashamaru? Ahhh, I think I should get married o him after all. 」

Such rants and complaints could be often heard from her.

「Yeah, yeah. Marriage or elopement, do whatever you like! If you have enough courage to go through with it, then knock yourself out! 」

Yoshiharu readily accepted these rants with such words of his own. After listening to this, one could only expect Nobuna’s anger to explode again. Niwa Nagahide, Shibata Katsuie, and the other retainers were helpless towards this matter.

Now in the grand hall of Aoshuu, Nobuna and her retainers were gathered together. Everyone already knew of the agenda for this meeting:「The battle to capture Mino! 」 This is the only topic they were going to be discussing.

「The start of my ambition to conquer the world has finally come! My hands have already started to itch with anticipation! 」
Shibata Katsuie, The number 1 retainer, bold and decisive. From Yoshiharu’s estimation, Katsuie’s boobs were most likely G cups. Her childhood name is 「Riku」. It should be「Gonroku」, but because of her history of changing from small boobs to giant boobs seemingly overnight, she complained that the name 「Gonroku」was not cute at all. After she finally got her name changed to「Riku」, her strength was shown not just on her chest, but also on the battlefield with her unparalleled spear-wielding skills.

Ever since she started serving under Nobuna’s brother, Nobukatsu, she had always hoped to be a retainer of Nobuna instead. Now that this wish was fulfilled, she was even more active and full of motivation. Incidentally, Katsuie’s favorite food was Miso Udon, but truth to be told, as long as it’s smothered with miso, she would not reject it, no matter if it’s shaved ice or Uiroumochi.

「Inabayama castle was designed by Saito Dosan himself. It’s hard to attack but easy to defend. 33 points. 」

Said Niwa Nagahide, Nobuna’s young second retainer. She was more like Nobuna’s sister, a mature and gentle beauty. The smile on her face was almost like her trademark, and she was someone who never allowed her actions to be influenced or manipulated by her own desires. Though she’s a bit naggy at times, she was an irreplaceable asset to the Oda clan. That’s why the retainers called her 「Kome-gorozae」, which means that her talents were as necessary for Oda clan’s survival as rice for the people. But instead of 「Gorozae」, Nobuna liked to call her by her childhood name 「Manchiyo」. For some reason, she had the weird habit of giving points to anything she talked about. She did not have any favorite food, nor did she detest any particular food.

「Hahahahahaha! Just leave it to me, Kanjuurou Nobusumi! 」

Formerly Oda Nobukatsu, now Nobusumi, also known as Kanjuurou. As the younger brother of the self-proclaimed 「Number one beauty in Owari」 Nobuna, he was a guy with very similar looks to his sister. His hobby was to play around with his fanclub of girls all day long. His special trait was cross-dressing. If he dressed himself as a courtesan, he would be even more charming than normal girls. He was once antagonistic towards Nobuna and was frequently launching rebellions against her, but now he was trying his best to help his sister fulfill her ambitions. Though his skills of playing around can be considered professional, his talent as a general was pretty much nonexistent. As of now, he was being tortured to death by Katsuie under the name of training to become a true warrior. Because of this, his body was never seen without new injuries or bruises. His favorite food seems to be Uiroumochi, as he was always fed that by Nobuna when he was still small. He even has the ambition to promote Uiroumochi everywhere and make it the number one snack in Japan, but in order to even start thinking about that, he should first and foremost focus on becoming a respectable general.
「Maeda Inuchiyo, always by Nobuna-sama’s side. 」

The third retainer, Maeda Toshiie, childhood name Inuchiyo. A little sister character to Nobuna. Though quiet, she can be adamant in getting things done and getting her point across. Her body is more on a petite side, but she always uses a bamboo spear. She was once banished from Owari for striking down one of Nobukatsu’s retainers, but she rejoined Nobuna during the battle of Okehazama while wearing a tiger hatand claiming to be reborn as a Basara. The sudden change of the plain girl to one with attention seeking accessories all over her outfit gave quite a shock to the Oda clan’s retainers who saw her when she returned to Kiyosu castle. What exactly could have happened to her during that period when she was gone?

From what Inuchiyo said, she seemed to have 「lost herself during a trip to find herself 」, but it’s more likely that she changed herself to a beast while being in the harsh environments of the wild, or at least that was Nagahide’s prediction. Also, there is one more thing that everyone knew about Inuchiyo: she is Yoshiharu’s neighbor in the Five-Leaf Aralia tenements. For Yoshiharu who had just traveled from modern Japan to the Sengoku era which he knew almost nothing about, Inuchiyo tried her best to take care of him. To Yoshiharu, Inuchiyo was a very reliable comrade, but it would be even better if her chest was bigger (actual comment made by Yoshiharu).As for her favorite food, it was definitely Urromochi, which Nobuna’s frequently rewarded her with.

「I’ll definitely achieve great feats to destroy that bastard Nagamasa’s marriage plans! 」

The idiot who said this kind of tactless stuff with blazing eyes was none other our protagonist Sagara Yoshiharu, also known as Monkey. He was an ordinary high school student back in modern day Japan, but was thrown into this Sengoku era for reasons unknown to him. If this kind of stuff happened to others, they might panic or be depressed by the whole situation, but Yoshiharu was an idiot with an overabundance of guts, not to mention a game fanatic of Sengoku era strategy games. With his mindset of 「I came from the future! Heaven must have sent me here to help Nobuna fulfill her dream of conquering the world! 」, he was full of confidence, to an almost unhealthy degree.

As a substitute to Toyotomi Hideyoshi who saved his life in the battlefieldand died soon after as a result, he believes it is his duty to help Nobuna conquer the world with the help of his Sengoku era games knowledge. His dream is to「Get all intimate with world’s number 1 beauty」, which he inherited from Tokichiro, but it was very close to hos own dream as well.

Though he does not necessarily dislike the love for the heavy flavors of food present all around Owari, a life filled with every meal being full of miso gave him quite a headache. As of now, he aims to use his own talents to achieve many great feats in the battle for Mino so that he could destroy Nobuna’s plans of being married to Azai Nagamasa.

He himself had found a bunch of reasons and excuses for him to go through with this, but the way others were seeing it, he was just someone who had forgotten his place and was envious of Nagamasa.

「This Inabayama castle that I built myself is not something that you guys can conquer that easily, I can tell you that much. 」

This old man who was seeking refuge in Owari was the former daimyo of the Mino province, Nobuna’s self-proclaimed godfather, Saito Dosan. Known as 「The Viper of Mino」. He was once an oil merchant in the capital, but he eventually conquered Mino and became its daimyo.
