「They took everything from Hestia?」

「It’s a long story. Fortunately, this place is under her barrier. No one will interrupt us.」

Aides smiled gently as she gazed up at the star-filled sky.

「A sky without shelter is nice, isn’t it? Though not exactly fitting for the story I’m about to tell.」

「Is it a story from the Pioneering Era?」

「Exactly. Oh, and it’s better if I don’t reveal my true name. In your culture, I believe you’d say it’s ‘bad luck.’」

Aides smiled again, deliberately using the Japanese concept of engi—a term unique to Japanese culture—while motioning for Kou to sit beside her on the beach. Kou quietly obeyed, lowering himself to the sand.

「All right, Aides.」

「That’ll do. Now, where should I begin… I suppose the war of the Twelve Olympians is the place to start. You already know the basics. That’s where it all began.」

「Hestia went into slumber early on, right?」

「Yes. She is a guardian
