How to Use a Tractor Beam

The Bison brandished its rifle and high-frequency blade in its left hand, alternating frequently between roller dashes and walking to close the gap.

Its opponent, the Bear, had not changed weapons—still wielding its railgun.

In terms of damage output, the Bison was at a disadvantage. It clearly intended to force a close-quarters fight.

But it was still far from optimal rifle range. The Bison pressed the offensive.

「If twenty minutes pass like this, the Bear wins.」

「Right. It’s not boxing, but when there are no decisive hits, the one who landed more shots is judged superior.」

At this rate, the Bear would win by just keeping the distance.

There was no need for it to take unnecessary risks. Silhouettes were slow when retreating while facing the enemy, but once you’d dealt this much damage, the advantage went to the one forcing movement.

After all, the one trying to close the distance had to shoulder all the risk.
