Latent Poison
By the time Kou and Kurt arrived at the control tower in the sanctuary Altis, Hyoue had reached Bardo’s quarters.
「Sorry to barge in.」
「Glad you came, Hyoue. Sorry for the short notice.」
Bardo turned his eyes to the pale-skinned young man beside him. The boy’s white hair and marble-like pallor felt almost inhuman.
「Master Bardo graciously agreed to host me today. Thank you again.」
The young man bowed deeply. Bardo clapped him on the back and leaned his weight against him.
「This here’s Dorios. He’s a mercenary who trained in swordsmanship and showed real talent. He came along as Vasa’s escort, and figured he’d ask you for a little sparring practice.」
Bardo was trembling inwardly with fear. But this casual tone was something Hermes had specifically ordered him to adopt. Vasa had warned him: the slightest unnatural behavior, and there would be no mercy.
「Dorios-kun, huh? Pleased to meet you.」
