Radio Talk Trick

「Three more snipers to go huh?」

Blue muttered under her breath.

Immediately after Song Solo was hit, she ejected and managed to land her Silhouette safely.

The enemies will likely close the distance next. She would be playing right into the enemy’s hands if she attempted to withdraw now.

If the enemy force manages to successfully deploy their troops to the forest area, it would instantly become a glaring weak point.

The counterattack from the enemy machine only managed to graze her Silhouette’s left arm, but it still ended up getting completely wrecked. With this, she would no longer be able to make proper use of her machine’s anti-fortress rifle anymore.

She determined that the enemy sniper this time around was quite skilled. When she tried to get a mark on it once more, the enemy machine had already vanished completely.

She had fired back the moment she was sniped, but as expected, the other party was able to avoid her counterattack.

「Would you like me to act as a decoy?」

The fox-type Familiar, Gon, offered. He had predicted the Canary’s landing point and waited there in advance in a lightweight patrol vehicle.

Gon acquiesced. Unlike bird-type Familiars, a land mammal-type like him would have more trouble getting away if he gets shot down.

Blue confirmed the status of her machine. The Canary’s left arm was completely scrapped. But the other parts were more or less fine. Blue decided to continue fighting.

Blue and the armored vehicle advanced further into the forest.

The Canary stopped in its tracks.

He took the bait, Blue inwardly mulled. The gamble she performed using the radio program seemed to have paid off.

「Y’see, I really love Nereid women. I’m gonna pierce ya with something long and thick, so just sit tight and take it, will ya?」

Blue guffawed. Her opponents words were too vulgar and cheap-sounding.

And since he was being so disgusting, she resolved to punish him accordingly.

「Excuse me, everyone. We just received a request from the listener, Mr. Argoforce. It looks like he wants me to fight him one-on-one. Fine, I’ll take you on! But please refrain from dirty jokes when facing off with me. Or else, you’ll have to answer to my manager.」

She fended off the opponent’s provocation with a relaxed smile.

And then, Blue suddenly fired her machine’s anti-fortress rifle at a specific point.

She set it at maximum detonation capacity. Then, she fired again. She fired a second shot the moment the recoil from the first subsided. They resulted in a large and deep hole on the forest ground. She ended up firing three shots in total.

With that, her opponent should have no trouble finding her location.

「I’m right here. My handicap is that my Silhouette no longer has its left arm. Your move, Mr. Argoforce. But I wonder which of us is gonna get shot through in the end?」

She continued to talk to Ireneo via the radio broadcast.

Both Blue and her opponent didn’t have the luxury of time. That’s why both of them wanted to settle everything as soon as possible in one fell swoop.

Blue began to make preparations for the next step in her plan. It will take a little trick to successfully pull off the last deciding shot.

「A patrol heli huh? Metal Iris is the only Force that employs such things.」

He was actually serious with the second half of his provocations. If the other party manages to survive, he planned to pull her out of her MCS and bring her back. Even if the Nereids technically had human rights, they weren’t real humans after all. That’s why doing something untoward to them wasn’t treated as a crime within Stone society.

Fairy Blue responded through the radio broadcast.

She’s a tough woman, Ireneo inwardly thought. But he liked it that way. That hint of embarrassment really made it feel more worthwhile to conquer her.

A series of explosions resounded in the distance. The last one came later than the others. There were four explosions in total.

「Your manager? The heck? Do you fancy yourself an idol or something? Well, having my way with an idol doesn’t sound half-bad.」

Ireneo gleefully licked his lips.

A pillar of flames rose in the distance. It was nearer to Ireneo’s current position compared to where Fairy Blue’s machine crashed earlier.

Blue stopped talking. Then, music started playing once more.

「The heck? You’re even trying to hide your actual location by using the radio broadcast.」

Ireneo clicked his tongue.

「Even when you said your left arm’s busted, you seem to be able to shoot just fine. You even declared that you’re gonna shoot right through me. Tricking me using radio small talk huh? Guess it’s true what they say. The nicer the woman, the better they lie.」

He was aware that he managed to graze his opponent’s machine with his helical railgun, but Ireneo doubted that Blue would bother to reveal any information that would be disadvantageous to her.
