The remains of the Space Fortress Argos were rapidly exiting Planet Asia’s gravitational zone. Its trajectory was no longer controllable.
It had happened just one hour earlier.
The Argos had been thrown into chaos after the complete annihilation of the countless Lailapss it had deployed.
「What in the world…?」
At the command seat, Alexandros II tried to analyze the situation rationally, but the cause eluded him. It wasn’t a black hole bomb, which could inflict wide-area devastation, nor was it a photon torpedo designed to take down individual ships.
Their target, the Britannion, hadn’t even sustained a scratch.
An alarm echoed throughout the fortress. The Barbaroi communicated not with voices, but via the circuits in their brains.
The Argos’ onboard control AI began broadcasting its analysis internally. It was—like all AIs on the system—designed for human use, and thus incompatible with the Barbaroi’s own communication systems.
