「Well, I mean, it’s good and all that you are feeling so at ease at home, but let me just give you a fair warning. If you are going to continue to flop you legs like that while wearing those clothes, a certain someone might accidentally be able to see a certain something by accident one of these days.」

「…… Hm? Be able to see? See what, exact…… N-Nyah!」

Realizing what Tanya’s words were entailing, Kanade got up at once and held her skirt down with all of her might.

She also ended up turning beet red on the face while she was at it.

「R-Rein…… Did you see?」

「N-No? I didn’t see anything?」

「Really now?」

「Really now. I swear.」

「Nyaah…… Well, if you didn’t, I guess that’s fine.」

If you’re going to be this ashamed of yourself by accidentally flashing someone like that, you need to be a little more careful about things like that.

But I guess that Kanade had that truly defenseless side to her that she just couldn’t really help herself to act in such a way.

「Well then, how about we go and make some dinner, shall we?」

Since I expected everyone to be utterly tired, I decided to go to town and brought back some lunches with me.

As I laid the lunch boxes on top of the table, everyone’s eyes lit up.

「For now, I’ve picked out a few boxes at random, so you can have whichever you would want……」

「I’m going to have the box filled with meat!」

「Fufun! It’s first come, first served! Rule of the jungle!」

「Sora would like the box with wild vegetables over there.」

「I would like that box with an egg on top.」

「I would like…… that cute box right there……」

「Well, it’s not that I can actually eat anything myself since I’m a ghost and all that, but…… Looking at you guys right now makes my stomach squirm and contract for some reason.」

After everyone made their pick, I picked up the leftover lunch box and sat down in a chair.

Then we all said “Let’s eat!” and our mealtime could officially begin.

「Hagu, hagu, hagu, hagu, hagu…… Nguh, paku, paku, paku, paku, paku!!」

「Uwah…… Kanade…… T-That’s a lot of…… momentum for eating……」

「That is actually quite the amazing appetite for a single person if I do say so myself. Aren’t you even greater of a glutton than Luna is?」

「Wait a second. Why did you just mention me? And why do I feel personally attacked?」

「You know, you could actually try to eat a little more calmly than you are eating right now. At this rate, you won’t even be able to tell how the food tastes, and most importantly, you risk the food getting stuck in your throat and……」

「Fuguh!? Nnn!!! Ngh!!! NNNGGGHHH~~!?!?!?!」

「…… Yeah, I told you it would happen.」

「A-Are you alright, Kanade? Here, have some water!」

「Nhh, nhh, ngkuuh…… Uwaah! T-That was close…… For a moment out there I thought my lunch was going to get me, for sure.」

「And just how surreal would that even be? A member of the Cat Spirit Tribe, done in by the contents of a stupid lunch box?」

So in the end, we managed to safely complete the assigned request, and……

Not only that, but we were also able to settle Tina’s past grudges……

I wonder if it is all because of that simple reason?

Everyone was looking bright and happy and while the meal continued, we continued to have a great and fun time together.

「Phew.」

「Rein, what’s wrong? Are you tired, perhaps?」

Kanade looked into my face while looking all worried.

Her tail was moving restlessly up and down, as if she was seriously worried about me.

「No, if I had to guess, I would say that it’s the other way around.」

「Other way around?」

「I’d much prefer having lunch together with all of you like that every single day, talking about small and insignificant things rather than having to fight all sorts of threats.」

It is true that I feel really fulfilled when I’m taking on requests and going on adventures with everyone in my party.

But that doesn’t mean that I really enjoy fighting all that much.

I felt like I was actually the happiest I could ever by just by being able to spend my time casually with everyone just like this.

Hearing my words, Kanade smiled at me kindly.

「Yeah. I feel like I can really understand what you mean by that, Rein.」

「Yeah? Is that so?」

「Yes, it is. I really think so! After all, relaxing is the best way to go about making use of your free time, wouldn’t you agree?」

「Isn’t it just that you like to take naps and do nothing all day, Kanade?」

Tanya joined in on the conversation all of a sudden.

She grinned and looked at us in a mischievous way.

「Huh? What are you…… N-No? Not really? W-Well, maybe? But that’s only because we the Cat Spirit Tribe enjoy taking our naps as a whole! But it’s not like all that we are doing all day is sleeping and lazing about, you know!?」

「Hearing you say that you like naps so much really makes you sound like a genuine cat.」

「Isn’t that basically one and the same? Real cats also enjoy their naps, right?」

「Naps…… I really like them…… too……」

「See? Nina gets it! She’s one of us! A true comrade!」

「Wapuh!」

Kanade hugged Nina tightly, as she happened to be sitting right next to her.

And although Nina flinched and looked really uncomfortable and as if she was suffocating, Kanade seemed to be largely unconcerned with that fact.

Really now, being able to witness such peaceful scenes with my own eyes made me wish that they could just go on forever.

That was an honest thought, coming straight from my heart.

「…… Rein. Hey, Rein?」

「Hm? What is it?」

While everyone else was busy eating their food, I was stealthy approached by Tina.

The fact that she was being all secretive like that and was whispering in a hushed voice meant that it was probably something that she would rather not disclose to everyone else.

Realizing that fact, I decided to play along and I answered her in an equally hushed voice.

「What’s wrong, Tina?」

「It’s not anything all that urgent, but there is something that I would like to talk to you about later on…… Do you mind coming to my room later tonight?」

「…… Alright, got it. When would be the ideal time for you?」

「Relax. Just go on and finish your dinner like you normally would. After that, just please give me a few minutes to prepare myself, okay?」
