Beast Tamer Who Got Kicked Out From the Hero’s Party Chapter 104 Part 1
CHAPTER 104: THE HERO’S…… PART 1
After leaving the city of Horizon, Arios and his group moved south.
They passed through the Stride Bridge and proceeded forward into the southern continent.
Once there, they reached the city of River’s End, which was located fairly close to the Stride Bridge itself.
River’s End was a fairly small city when compared to the city of Horizon.
It was a place that was not exactly known for any of its industries, and it was not any kind of major tourist attraction, since there was literally nothing to see in the city itself or its vicinity.
If someone was asked to name at least one strong point of River’s End, it would be the fact that it was a perfect lodging and transit point for anyone who was going from the central continent to the southern continent, or the other way around.
River’s End is the first town you would reach after crossing the bridge and arriving at the southern continent.
Most travelers would stop here to relax after a long journey and to recuperate before the path leading further ahead, deeper into the continent.
.
So, in a sense, River’s End was actually an important city.
And that important city of River’s End was now plagued by the prolonged presence of monsters.
If it was a single C rank monster that was approaching the town, it would have been no threat at all. It would never even be considered that in the first place.
For a single C rank monster, a group of C Rank Adventurers would have been more than enough to exterminate the monster without any kind of problems.
However, when the C rank monster was not alone, but it was actually an entire swarm of them, that was an entirely different story altogether.
According to the River’s End knights and scouting groups, the swarm of monsters that was near the town was thirty in number, or perhaps even greater than that.
In addition to that, there were also D rank and E-rank monsters gathered around the stronger ones, amounting to a swarm of about one hundred monsters or so.
So power-wise and number-wise, they were like a small army..
Normally, there would be no way for monsters devoid of advanced intelligence to group up and coordinate their actions like that.
Because even among their own kind, it was not uncommon for the monsters with lower intelligence to act purely on instinct, which would result in the monsters cannibalizing one another for food or sport.
However, this time around was an exception.
It was a Stampede.
Sometimes it just so happens that the monsters obsessed with the urge for destruction would swarm together and become a storm of disaster that would destroy and swallow everything and anything that would be unfortunate enough to come in their way.
It has been said to be a Harbinger of the Resurrection of the Demon Lord, the Coming of the Apocalypse, and many other things across many years, but the exact cause and origin of this phenomenon was still unknown.
If there was one thing that everyone would know when it comes to the Stampede, it would be this and this alone:
Once that the Stampede occurs and is set into motion, a tremendous amount of damage and destruction was bound to follow suit.
So everyone was sure that the swarm of monsters that occurred near River’s End was definitely a prelude to the proper Stampede.
If left unchecked, the number of monsters would surely swell even more……
And once it would cross a certain threshold, they would simply start moving forward and without stopping like a monstrous tidal wave, swallowing everything in its path without exception.
So before that was to occur, those monsters had to be defeated, no matter what.
And the ones who have been given this tremendous task were Arios and his Party.
As for Arios himself, he had no real interest in defeating the monsters whatsoever.
Even if the Stampede was to occur across this land, it was of no real concern for him, as they were to depart from this land before long.
However, the rumors born in the city of Horizon that ‘…… The Hero and his Party have abandoned the city and its people’ had already circulated all the way to River’s End.
The only saving grace for Arios and his Party was that the rumor was still just that, a mere rumor. So as of now, no real trouble had occurred for them because of that.
However, it would be really bad for them if they were to just leave that rumor as it was.
So, although he was really reluctant to do this, it was something that just couldn’t be helped, and Arios reluctantly accepted the task of getting rid of the monsters near River’s End.
「Tch, so annoying…… “Giga Volt”!」
Arios unleashed his Lightning Magic that only the Hero could use.
Like a dragon crawling on the ground, an electric shock rushed through the air and turned several monsters into lumps of extinguishing coals.
He then continued to brandish his sword around, cutting the other smaller monsters into thin ribbons, as if his blade was dancing through the air.
The legs of the Troll that attacked him with a loud roar were severed in the blink of an eye.
As the Troll lost its balance, it came thumping down to the ground.
There, when it was wide open for attacks, Arios pierced its head with his sword and the Troll died on the spot.
「NUUUHHHNNN!!!」
Aggath received the assault of multiple monsters at once, by using his huge sword as a shield to block his opponents from proceeding.
Using his entire body, he would then bounce the monster back.
He would then cleave them all back using the broader side of his greatsword.
This action resulted in the demons being pushed back and cut in half, scattering in all directions.
However, he was unable to inflict the fatal wounds on all the monsters that were pressing forward towards them.
The monsters that managed to survive the assault regained their balance and tried to attack the Hero and his Party once again, but……」
It was something that was more than expected from them right now.
「Rin!」
「I know! I know! Here we go…….. “Red Crimson”!」
Rin’s magic exploded right in the middle of the monsters and blew them all away at once.
「Hmph, no matter how many small fries come at me at once, I will blow you all away as many times as necessary……」
「No, not yet! Don’t let your guard down, Rin!」
「Huh? ………Kyah!?」
From the middle of the fiery explosion, there was a lizardman that jumped out and launched itself towards Rin.
Its sword then came crushing down.
Rin jumped to the side and barely managed to avoid it, but there was no way that she would be able to avoid the next slash when it would approach.
A second slash was certain to reach Rin, and there was nothing that she could possibly do to avoid it……
「“Holy Arrow”!!!」
But before that could happen, Mina’s magic made the Lizardman disappear at once.
