Beast Tamer Who Got Kicked Out From the Hero’s Party Chapter 105 Part 1

CHAPTER 105: THE HERO’S…… *2* PART 1

After completely wiping out the monsters, Arios and his Party returned to River’s End.

They reported to the local Lord that they had finished their request and headed to the inn where they were going to spend the night.

They ordered a reasonable amount of food and alcohol and took a seat behind the table.

「I’m glad it all went without a hitch.」

「Yeah, tell me about it.」

Aggath nodded his head upon hearing Mina’s words.

They were satisfied with the fact that they had been able to stop the Stampede from taking place and before things got out of hand.

But in contrast to the two, both Arios and Rin had a huffy and unsatisfied look on their faces.

They had been conveniently used to exterminate a mere swarm of regular monsters. This was not something that someone of his caliber, a Hero, should be doing.

Both Arios and Rin honestly thought that, and in their reasoning doing a menial task like that was something that greatly hurt their pride.

Seeing his companions sulking and moping like that, Aggath called out to them.

「Are you still not convinced? Even though we did a job well done?」

「And what makes you think that I would ever be satisfied with a job like that? There’s no reason for someone like us to dirty our hands with such a small fry of a problem. Things like Stampedes and their preludes should be something that Knights Order and Adventurers’ Guild should be taking care of. We just wasted our time over nothing.」

「Well, you might be right about that, but still, we received a good payment for our trouble. So don’t you think that this simply categorizes that job as something that “couldn’t be helped”?

「No, I don’t think so. It was a problem that arose due to the negligence of the Adventurers’ Guild and the local Lord. They are the ones who needlessly endangered the entire city. So they should have been the ones who should have paid the price for that.」

「Well, yeah, again, I guess that you are right about that as well, but……」

「Why don’t you just think of this request as a form of training for the challenges that are clearly to come in the future?」

Mina opened her mouth to try and aid Aggath.

「We still need to become stronger. At our current level, we might not be good enough to face the Demon Lord.」

「This is……」

「Sure thing, I don’t like the idea of our group being treated like some sort of convenient handymen, but…… I would say that no matter how we look at it, it was a good training for all of us. Can’t we just chalk it up to that and agree that this experience is going to help us to get stronger in the future?

「…… Yes, that’s right. I agree.」

「Well, I mean, as long as we are getting paid according for the job, I couldn’t care less about what kind of tasks we are asked to do.」

「And Rin…… You should really pay closer attention to whatever is going on around you doing our missions, don’t you think so?」

「Yes, I know, I know! And I’m trying to pay attention! I really am! But money is the more important factor here, right?」

「This is, well…… I guess that’s also true, but……」

「That being said, even though we got some new travel money for our expenses, who said that we had to work for it? It should have been given to us. Not that we really needed that, but still……」

「Goodness gracious……」

It would seem that no words would ever be able to get to Rin through that thick skull of hers.

That is why Mina ultimately gave up on trying to reason with her and just quietly resumed eating her meal.

The other three also resumed their meals as well, drinking in moderation and having a generally peaceful time.

River’s End was not that much of an affluent city, but with so many travelers and merchants coming and going from here, the lodgings were really good and they were well stocked as well.

The food was also of high quality and satisfied the palates of Arios and the others with surprising ease.

「Hero-sama.」

「Hm?」

As Arios and his comrades continue to enjoy their meal, an elderly man calls out to them as he approached their table.

For some reason, Arios thought that this man looked somewhat familiar and that surely had seen him somewhere before.

And as it was to turn out, he was right to think so.

Because as it turned out, the elderly man was a member of the entourage serving the current Lord of River’s End.

Even though they did not speak all that much to each other, Arios was sure that he would at least remember his face. But as it turns out, he had a problem with remembering people’s faces even if they were daily well acquainted.

「Once again, thank you very much for stopping that premature Stampede outside of the city’s premises.」

「Ahh, so that’s what this is all about, huh? A threat of this level was actually not that big of a deal for us.」

「Yes, we would have expected nothing less from a great and powerful Hero such as yourself. We were finally approaching the end of our means as to what to do about all those monsters outside of the city’s limits, so your presence was truly a Godsend…… Once again, thank you very much for your help.」

「Just make sure that you will never forget to whom you own the fact that your city can sleep peacefully tonight, understood?」

「Yes, Hero-sama. We will. You can be sure of that.」

THroughout this entire conversation, Arios was behaving as though he was the only one who was supposed to take credit for all of the work that they had done on the field earlier.

However, that’s just things had always been for the Hero’s Party.

Neither Aggath, Mina, nor Rin would open their mouths and try to say anything here.

「Well then, if you would ever need anything else from me, please don’t hesitate and let me know. I won’t say that we can do everything that you want of me, but you can be sure that as long as it will be within my power, I am going to try and make your request a reality.」

「Yes, yes, thank you so much. Truly, the Great Hero-sama is as dependable and reliable as people say.」

It might have been an utterly boring request, but……

It actually wasn’t half bad to have some compliments directed at you from time to time. Especially if they were genuine.

Thinking about that to himself, Arios was in a seemingly good mood.

「…… Excuse me, can I have a moment of your time?」

A man dressed like a merchant interrupted their conversation all of a sudden.

「And who are you suppressed to be?」

「Oh, I’m sorry. Where are my manners? You see, I’m just your humble merchant. And there is something that I felt obliged to mention at this very moment…… There is absolutely no need to thank this here Hero for what his group did, Mister.」
