Beast Tamer Who Got Kicked Out From the Hero’s Party Chapter 121 Part 1
CHAPTER 121: THE CELESTIAL TRIBE PART 1
「What the……?」
All of a sudden, Arios looked around suspiciously when he heard the sound of laughter echoing all across the mountain’s summit.
However, no matter how hard he would survey the area, there was nothing that he could see.
The only ones present at the mountain’s summit were himself, the members of his Party, and that hired Adventurer that served as their guide. Well, there was also the figure of the Bloody Bear that the Adventurer had tamed, technically speaking.
But besides those people, there was no one else in here.
「Kusu, kusu, kusu……」
And yet, he could clearly hear a small child laughing.
It was an eerie sound that continued to reverberate across the entire area without interruption for a while now.
「Hyiiih!」
The sudden and bizarre phenomenon almost made the Adventurer lose his composure and fall to the ground, looking as though he was ready to get out of here at a moment’s notice.
What a pathetic and shameful display.
Arios clicked his tongue in disgust and drew his sword once more.
「Aggath! Rin! Mina! To me! Now!」
「Right!」
His companions must have sensed that something was not right here and quickly converged on Arios’s location without a word of complaint.
Wary of their surroundings at all times, formed a circle around Arios, with Arios standing in its center.
Aggath then turned to ask Arios through his shoulder:
「What is the meaning of this? What’s going on here?」
「I don’t know. It’s just that I have a really bad feeling about this.」
All of a sudden the atmosphere around the mountain’s summit has become chilly, as if the temperature started to drop rapidly.
And yet, Arios could feel an even colder sensation hitting him, crawling its way all over his spine.
Inside of Arios, every single one of his Hero instincts were signaling an alarm, warning him to stay vigilant.
This place is dangerous. We must flee from here immediately…….. That was the sensation that he was getting.
However, even though he knew that retreat would be a far better option here, his pride as a Hero would simply not allow him to do that.
There was no doubt that something strange was going on here right now.
But that fact did not mean that they could simply run away with their tails tucked away between their legs.
Because he was a Hero.
He was the Chosen One.
And yet, there was no way that he could do something as inconceivable like running away from the challenge.
And it was precisely because of that pride of his, Arios stayed where he was, but……
He and his companions were immediately reminded that this was a major mistake on their part.
「…… Huh? What the hell!?」
How long has she been there?
Before anyone from the Hero’s Party even knew it, a lone girl had appeared a short distance away from Arios and the others.
She must have been about fifteen years old, maybe slightly younger.
Her jewel-like silver hair was bound with bright crimson ribbons.
Her skin was as white as ceramic or porcelain.
Her eyes were as red as rubies.
Her black dress-like outfit had many frills to it all over.
At first glance, that girl looked more like a doll rather than any normal human being.
That’s how beautiful she was, and there was a feeling about her that this beauty of hers was simply not of this world.
「Kusu, kusu, kusu.」
As it turned out, that strange laughter that the Hero’s Party was hearing this entire time was the work of that girl.
But it was not as if she was directing her laughter at Arios and the members of his party in particular.
She just continued to laugh, happy and joyfully, all the while staring in the distance.
For some reason, the atmosphere about her was really strange and unnerving.
Just looking at her for a single moment was more than enough to make their hearts tremble in terror and feel like they were trapped into the iron grasp of fear.
In fact, the Adventurer in particular was so frightened right now that he couldn’t even speak properly.
Mina then called out to Arios while holding her Priestess staff at the ready.
「Arios, please be careful. That girl is……」
「Yeah, I know. No need to remind me.」
Arios gripped the hilt of his sword as well, ready to slash their opponent at any moment if they decided to come any closer.
This girl might have looked like a perfectly ordinary human being, but her presence was clearly not human. Not in the least.
For all intents and purposes, she might have been a monster that was disguising itself as human, so it could get them to lower their guards down.
Or the worst case scenario, she might have actually been a Demon.
What should they do here?
Should they make a preemptive attack?
However, no matter what, that thing looked like a human girl, albeit only when it comes to appearances.
That fact alone was more than enough to be able to throw a major wrench into Arios’s better sense of judgment, but……
Thinking about such things right now was pretty much useless, as nothing remotely good would ever come out of it.
「Say, you there.」
「W-Wha……!? What the,,,,,,!?」
The next thing everyone knew, the girl was right in front of the Hero’s Party.
How and when had she even had a chance to move!?
No matter how hard he was trying to think about it, Arios was simply unable to understand.
「I would like to ask you a few questions, if you wouldn’t mind answering them?」
「…… What was that just now?」
Suppressing his inner turmoil to the best of his ability, Arios tried his best to ask back in a calm and composed fashion.
But even so, he was sweating so profusely that huge beads of sweat were running down his neck and face.
For some reason, Arios was feeling a ridiculous amount of pressure coming off from the girl, as if he was but a small bird that was being stared down at by a predatory bird after it managed to catch him in its grasp.
「Are you guys the ones who destroyed that shrine just now?」
In spite of her young appearance, the girl had a mature tone to her voice, one that did not really fit with her looks.
「Are you guys the ones who have destroyed that shrine and set me free as a result? I’m really curious about that.」
「I have no idea what the hell do you mean by setting you free, but I’m pretty sure that it was I who have destroyed that run-down shrine just now. What about it? What’s that to you?」
「Oh my, oh my, OH MY, OH MY…… Fufufu…… HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!」
For some eerie reason, the girl looked really pleased when she heard that.
And then, before anyone else could react that in any sort of way, she started to laugh and snicker like a madman.
