「What the hell, nya!?」

「Come on, I will make sure for you to have one heck of an unforgettable time! We are surely going to enjoy ourselves to the fullest!」

「Cut that out.」

The moment Ax started to hit on Kanade in a rather direct and unprecedented way, Cell hit him across the head with all of her might.

Or rather, it looked like Cell just hit Ax to the head with the bow that she was holding in her hands?

Bows are the kind of weapons that need to withstand a lot of strain, so they are naturally really tough, right? So, being hit with one surely was no different from being hit with a freaking hammer, right?

「What the hell are you doing all of a sudden, Cell? I was just trying to have a good time with Kanade-chan over here!?」

Oh wow, the guts of this guy.

And just like that, he was smacked to the head with a bow yet again.

「Stop acting like that. You are embarrassing not only yourself, but myself as well.」

「I-I see…… Yeah, you’re right. I’m sorry. But were you jealous just now, I wonder? No need to worry! You are still my number one, Cell! That was only supposed to be a little bit of me goofing around and…… GUEAH!?」

「Putting things that way is disrespectful for both me and that girl.」

「I…… I just…… can’t really help it but to admire cute girls like her, you know?」

「What about an apology?」

「I am most terribly sorry.」

Ax lowered his head in apology, even though his head was right now almost exclusively covered in bumps.

……Somehow, that little interaction right here was more than enough for me to understand just what kind of relationship those two had going on between one another.

「…… Rein. Hey, Rein.」

Kanade whispered softly into my ear.

「These people…… don’t you think that they are really weird?」

「You surely aren’t mincing your words with this one, Kanade.」

「…… Are we really going to be working together with these people? Are you sure it’s going to be a good idea?」

「Umm, you know……」

Actually, I was at a loss for words when it came to that particular subject.

「Whoa there, terribly sorry about that.」

Even though we were talking privately in hushed voices, Ax still somehow managed to jump right in the middle of our conversation.

「I know that we might not look the part, but we are actually A Rank Adventurers.」

「H-Huh!? Really!?」

「Seeing you acting so surprised with that revelation actually hurts just a little bit, you know……?」

Witnessing Kanade’s genuinely shocked reaction, Ax dropped his shoulders with a gesture of utter despair.

「Well, for whatever it’s worth, that’s actually true.」

Instead of Ax, it was Natalie-san, who in fact had been watching the developments between us unfold for a while now, who actually answered that.

「Those two are the pair of A Rank Adventurers forming a Party dubbed as “The Purple Lighting”.」

「Nyaahhh…… A nickname…… Could it be these guys are like those other two?」

Kanade made a bitter face as she said that to herself.

She must have meant Ogg and Kreutz by that.

As if recalling a bad memory, her expression became gloomy and stiff in a single moment.

「Please don’t lump us together with those kind of people. We are proud to be Adventurers and we work hard every single day to give testament to that.」

「And unlike chumps like that, Cell and I have a strong bond tying us together!」

「Don’t add your unnecessary fantasies into the mix here.」

As if it was only the most natural thing to do in the entire world, Cell smacked Ax across the head with her bow once again.

……Is this also a normal scene for the two of them?

「Umm…… I know that Ax-san might have a bit of a problem with his personality…… B-But rest assured! Both of them are definitely quite skilled. I’m sure they’ll be reliable partners during the Devil investigation.」

Natalie-san followed up quite naturally.

Honestly, I’m a little bit worried here……

However, it seems certain that those two know what they are doing and that they can take care of themselves.

At first glance, they looked like a pair that just likes to joke around, but I could feel that they were way of their surroundings at all times, not leaving a potential enemy any opening.

So, even should an emergency situation find them, they would be the kind of people who would be easily able to both adapt to the situation and respond to it right away.

At least that was a hunch I was getting.

「Nyaaahhh…… They seem like the kind of people that loves to fool around, but I don’t actually think that they are bad people? Maybe?」

Kanade let her guard down a little bit.

If Kanade, who was unusually so sensitive to such signs and bad people, has let her guard down, I think we can trust those two. Even if it was only going to be a little bit.

I want to rely on my comrades’ intuition some more, rather than always having to rely on my own intuition.

Natalie-san bowed her head and disappeared into the back of the reception area of the Guild.

Because of the urgent nature of the incident, there were seemingly many things that needed to be done.

「Can I call you Rein?」

Ax asked with a hesitant tone.

「I feel like I’m going to get smacked across the head for acting so familiar with the Savior of the entire city, but…… Look, I’m not good at that kind of formality, okay? Also, for a while, we are going to be companions, right? So let;s try to get along? I think that would be for the best here, but……」

「Ah, it doesn’t matter to me all that much. Or rather, I told you to stop calling me a Hero, remember? I don’t mind people addressing me as they normally would. Or rather, since we are companions now, there’s no need for formalities and being polite, right? Besides, you are above us when it comes to rank.」

Once again, we shook hands with the two of them.

As long as we are going to cooperate with those two, we should be able to proceed with the investigation fairly well.
