Beast Tamer Who Got Kicked Out From the Hero’s Party Chapter 128 Part 2
CHAPTER 128 PART 2
[…… I mean, that’s just the way it is, but still, it’s a little bit hard to accept.]
Is it really that much of a surprise?
…… Or should I maybe be the one who should be even more surprised than the two of them?
No, I guess it’s only natural to be surprised here.
There was a ghost possessing the kettle, and on top of that, it was being carried on top of someone’s head.
It was such a strange sight that if someone was to explain that to me, I would have trouble comprehending that for sure.
Oh well, I guess that those two will just have to gradually get used to it.
Because there is no way that we were just going to leave Tina behind for a mission as important as this one.
[Alright, Isn’t it about time that we head out? We don’t have a lot of time to spare, so we’d better hurry.]
[Ah, yes, that’s right. All right then, let’s go!]
Ax walked in the front of our group and we followed right after him.
First thing first, we headed out of the city and moved towards the Stride Bridge.
Our destination was the Southern Continent that laid just beyond the bridge.
[Nyah!]
Kanade was walking right next to me, and all of a sudden her tail was twitching in a tantalizing manner.
[Hm? What’s wrong, Kanade?]
[I know that this is not the right time for saying this, but…… I’m just so excited. I’ve never been to the Southern Continent before, so…… Nyahh! I can’t wait to see what that place is like!]
[Hey Kanade, you do know that we are not going there to sightsee, right? This is a proper request, you know. We need to take it seriously.]
[U-Ugh…… Y-Yeah, I guess that’s true, but……]
The moment that Tanya joined in on our conversation with a sharp remark, Kanade’s shoulders shuddered.
But if anything, I could totally understand the way in which Kanade was feeling.
You just can’t help yourself but feel overwhelmed by the fact that you are going to a place that you have never been to before in your life.
[But Rein, you seem to be so calm about this…… Nyaah, I guess that you are just built differently. Totally different from me.]
[Well, I mean, the Southern Continent is the place where I originally come from. So this time around is more like a homecoming to me than a visit to a new place, so it’s not really that exciting in the first place.]
[Oh yeah, that’s right. Rein, you’re from the Southern Continent, right?]
[I have completely forgotten about it.]
Well, I mean, I have only briefly touched that subject before, so it’s not really all that surprising that people would forget all about it.
[Well then, how about we do this? After this request is going to be officially over, why don’t we do some sightseeing around here? I’m sure Rein has a lot of places that he would like to stop by, too.]
[‘Well yeah, I don’t see the reason why not. If we can afford it, that might be a really good idea.]
[Since this idea is coming from you, Kanade, I’m really surprised that you were the one who came up with it.]
[Nyah~!]
Kanade’s tail wagged with a gleeful flick as she hummed an upbeat melody.
[And then, and then…… If possible, I could with Rein…… just the two of us…… Nyaaah~~……]
She would then mumble something additional under her nose, but I couldn’t really hear it all that well.
[Say, guys?]
Ax, who was walking ahead of us, slowed down and lined up right next to me.
[This might sound a little bit weird coming from me, but aren’t you guys awfully calm about this entire thing?]
[Hm? What do you mean by that?]
[Well, I mean, this is a pretty big request, wouldn’t you say? Normal Adventurers would probably be scared out of their wits when they would hear of an Emergency Request being mentioned. And yet, you and your company are so laid back about it…… Oh, but I’m not saying that in a bad or weird way, alright?]
[Just so you know, we do understand the importance and urgency of this request.
One village was destroyed throughout the course of a single night.
We are not stupid enough to not understand what that means.
[However, being nervous and stressed out over that fact is not going to be of any use to us, right? Of course, that doesn’t mean we should be distracted with other things, but I think it’s better to be reasonably relaxed than the other way around. If you are nervous all the time, your thoughts will eventually freeze up when the time comes and when you will need to be extra focused.]
[Oh, I see.]
[I know that I might not actually explain that all too well, but in a nutshell, that’s what we are all about.]
[My, that’s the Hero of Horizon for you! As you would expect!]
[I told you to stop calling me the Hero.]
[Oh, come on, it was a compliment, alright?]
[I know, but it still doesn’t sit right with me. Besides, the only reason I was able to pull through that day was because everyone else was there with me. If I was on my own, there’s no way I would have been able to do this.]
[I guess that’s the nice thing about being all humble. I like you, Rein and your company. And especially that Tanya girl.]
[…… Tanya?]
But shouldn’t they have been able to exchange only a few words as of right now……?
[I mean, just look at her! She’s positively stunning! She’s giving off that dependable Older Sister vibes, and she’s got a great style, to boot! That really checks all of my boxes, if you know what I mean! But even if it was just a single time, I would like for her to step all over me while looking down on me with vile contempt!]
[Hey now.]
Ah, so that’s what this is all about, huh?
Besides, isn’t it like your fetishes here are REALLY specific? Maybe even TOO specific?
[If that’s the case, would you like me to step on it for you?]
[G-Geh! C-Cell……?]
[You want to be stepped on, don’t you? Here, I will more than happily oblige!]
[N-No, that’s not it. Cell, listen, you know…… You are certainly a stunning beauty, it’s just that…… Aren’t you a little bit…… lacking? Especially in the boobs departmenGHEEEAAG!?]
[Go die in a ditch or something.]
It would seem that Ax managed to gracefully step on a landmine that most people would be conscious enough to avoid at all cost.
…… But I guess that from that kind of behavior, it was Ax’s way of keeping his mind off things.
Well, it might have been a little bit different from us, but as long as it keeps your mind nice and relaxed, I guess you do you?
I sincerely hope that this is the case here, otherwise this guy is going to get crushed one day for sure. In more ways than one.
[Hoowee, that was one heck of a terrible experience.]
The battered Ax lined up next to me once again.
[Isn’t that Cell terrible, to treat someone like that? It was only a little slip of the tongue on my part!]
[I feel like you had it coming.]
[Oh, don’t be like that! You’re supposed to stick up for your friends at times like this!]
When did we become friends, I wonder?
But oh well, I’m sure Ax and I would be really good friends.
[You also seem to be really relaxed here, Ax. Despite the situation being what it is, huh?]
[Well, that’s because I’m pretty confident in my own skills. Besides, the location for this Emergency Request and its timing couldn’t have been better. So even if things DO end up getting rough, we should be able to pull through quite easily.]
[Oh? And why is that?]
[Because the Hero and his Party are supposed to be on the Southern Continent right about now.]
[…… What?]
[Like I said, the Hero and his Party are going through the Southern Continent right as we speak. I don’t know if we will be able to meet them at all, but it would certainly put my heart at ease to have the Hero backing us up. After all, it is the Hero and his Party that we are talking about here. There’s no way that we won’t be able to clear that Emergency Request with someone like that having our back, don’t you think?]
Ax would then continue to speak really optimistically about such things.
In the end, the public’s opinion on the Hero and his Party was still really high, and it was a small wonder that Ax would think in accordance with the prevailing values of the general public, but……
[…… Arios and his group are here, huh?]
I, on the other hand, couldn’t help it but to feel a strange sense of nervousness and uneasiness.
