CHAPTER 131: THE NIGHT TALK PART 1

Iris was certainly a very mysterious girl.

She had a certain ladylike vibe to her and was very polite in the way in which she was behaving.

She had a bit of a devilish charm to her, but considering her apparent age, that was not all that unbelievable of a quality for a girl to have.

At first glance, she looks like a young noble lady of some kind.

Maybe she was actually a daughter of some nobility? I felt that if I were to voice that guess of mine out loud, that would not actually be all that far away from being the truth. And on the contrary, it would actually make a whole lot of sense.

But that was not all. There was something else that was nagging at me.

There was clearly something alien about her.

It was a strange kind of feeling, as if she was actually a vicious beast wearing human skin for the sake of camouflage.

Besides, wasn’t her aura that was overflowing from her not something that you would feel about an ordinary person? I really couldn’t help myself from thinking something like that.

Could it be that I was instinctively being afraid of this girl?

No way…… I don’t think that’s the case here, but at the same time there are a whole lot of people in this world to whom the notion of common sense does not apply, and that people are certainly scary.

For example, like everyone at our Party.

But maybe, just to be on the safe side, I should be careful around her.

Walking side by side, Iris and I strolled through the city at night.

It was a very quiet night.

There was a quietness in the air that gave me the illusion that we were the only two people in the world, Iris and I.

But the thing is, that this feeling was not exactly pleasant……

Because that silence and stillness had something truly eerie to it.

「What do you do for a living, Rein-sama?」

「I’m an Adventurer.」

I couldn’t really help it but to chuckle slightly.

「Are you based in this particular city, by any chance?」

「No. My Party and I, we are based in a city in the Central Continent. I’m here to take on a small request for the Adventurers’ Guild, and on the way there we stopped here to resupply.」

「Hmm, I see.」

「Are you from this city, Iris?」

「No. I’m traveling as well, at the current moment.」

「Is that so?」

「Why, yes. For you see, I am actually looking for something dear to me, and it is for that goal that I have been traveling from one city to another, hoping to find it.」

「Are you perhaps traveling all by yourself?」

「Yes, I do. Why?」

Looking at that fearless smile of hers, I thought it must be true.
