Beast Tamer Who Got Kicked Out From the Hero’s Party Chapter 133 Part 1
CHAPTER 133: JET BLACK PART 1
Our journey towards Jizu was going really well.
We rarely encountered any monsters on the road, and even when we did encounter them, both Ax and Cell managed to dispose of them in the blink of an eye, before we even got the chance to worry about them.
I guess it was only expected of A Rank Adventurers. They turned out to be really dependable travel companions.
Apparently other Adventurers were also on the lookout for possible monsters alongside the roads, with checkpoints being made at regular intervals so as to make sure that the people using the roads would get a safe transit, but that fact was actually of very little meaning to us at the current moment.
Of course, at every checkpoint we were able to pass easily and without any problems occurring……
And just like that, following the roads smoothly and without any interruptions or roadblocks, we were able to reach the Jizu village in five days, instead of what was supposed to be an estimated week.
Time was going to be a very important factor in this Emergency Request, so we were more than happy to be able to shorten our estimated schedule like that.
Once we finally got to the Jizu village, we tried to start asking the people around the place for information right away……
「Fuhh, fuhh…… Haah, hyiiih…… H-How about we take a short break, guys? I’m…… I’m really tired…… I think…… I’m about to collapse……」
「W-What are you saying, Luna……? Y-You know full well…… Haah, haah…… that we do not have…… fuhh, hyiih…… time for things like that……」
Sora and Luna really looked so exhausted that they might collapse at any moment now.
It was only to be expected of them. After all, they had little to no stamina to them.
On our way here, they would often cast the Fly magic and other spells like that in order to soar through the air in order to conserve as much of their strength and stamina as possible, but the sheer distance we had to travel proved to be a tough ordeal for them to brave through.
「Nyaah, now what are we going to do?」
「Yeah, about that…… There is no use in forcing you to do anything when you are clearly not in the condition to do anything, so how about I pay you for a room at the local inn so that you can rest there? I mean, we would still need rooms, so that actually goes perfectly with our overall plans. The same goes for Tanya and Nina. And of course, Tina is going to be the chaperone of that group.」
「What, me too?」
Tanya gave me a really subtle look.
「We can’t just leave Sora and Luna alone in an unfamiliar place, can we now?」
「Well, yes, I guess, but…… Is that really a good idea?」
「Is that a no, then?」
「…… Does that mean that you are counting on me here?」
「Why, of course. I am always counting on you, Tanya.」
「F-Fufufun! W-Well, if that is the case here, then I do believe that I have no other choice but to comply now, do I? Alright then! I will make sure that Sora and Luna, Nina and Tina are all well taken care of! So rest assured!」
Tanya it seems that assuring her that I was counting on her was the correct choice here, as Tanya accepted my request with a smile on her face and without any further objections.
For some reason, right behind my back I thought that I could hear Kanade mumbling “Well, look how easy someone here is……”.
But for the time being I decided to ignore that and don’t worry about it.
「Nina and Tina, would you mind going to the inn first, too? You need to get some much needed rest.」
「Hmm…… That sounds…… really lovely, but…… what about you, Rein? Aren’t you…… tired at all……?」
「Well, as for me, now that I am like this, fatigue is not something that even concerns me much longer. So wouldn’t it be wiser for me to go with you and stay on guard?」
「Well, that would normally be the case, but we don’t know what’s going to happen from now on, or how our investigation is going to develop. So you should take a break while you still can. Besides, we are here to just question some of the villagers. It’s a small task that does not require nearly as many people to carry out properly.」
…… Now, I know that I said all that, but only half of my words here were the truth. The other half was me thinking about something else entirely.
Nina is still just a child, so I don’t really know if she is going to be able to handle asking the questions of the refugee villagers, and even if she was able to do that, there is no guarantee that the refugees would answer her properly and truthfully.
Besides, when we are going to be asking those questions, there is a possibility that we are going to hear some truly hard and gruesome stuff. And the probability of that happening was really large.
So if I could, I would like to keep Nina away from that kind of thing for as long as possible.
As for Tina…… Well, for the time being she still looked like a kettle.
And while it was true that she might have been able to get some answers for us with her extraordinary conversation and interrogation skills, there was nothing that we could possibly do about the fact that she was still only a kettle.
Once I was able to accurately assess our current situation, it was only natural that it would be better to just leave them back at the inn and let them rest there.
「Alright…… If you say so, Rein, then this is what we will do.」
「I understand. Well then, I guess that we are going to be taking it easy for the foreseeable time.」
「Yes, you do just that. Well then, Tanya……」
Tanya then nodded her head, taking everyone and walking further into the town, looking for a possible place to stay for our group.
「Nyah, Rein. Are you done over there?」
「Yes, I am. Sorry for keeping you waiting, guys.」
Now, with that business being taken care of, Kanade and I were ready to rejoin the interrogation group.
「Are you ready to go, you two?」
「Yes, sorry about that. Were you waiting for us?」
While we were discussing our preferred course of action, Cell was waiting for us in a disciplined manner.
「Hmm…… Huh? Where’s Ax?」
「As for Ax, I have sent him out to scout the surrounding area. Just in case we wouldn’t be able to find any clues about the Devil. And who knows? There might be clues in places where you would least expect them to show up.」
「That’s true, but…… Are you sure it was okay to send him out all on his own? If you had told me that in advance, I would have sent someone out here with him, too.」
