Beast Tamer Who Got Kicked Out From the Hero’s Party Chapter 140 Part 1
CHAPTER 140: THE HERO’S INTENTIONS PART 1
After doing some miscellaneous tasks that had to do with monster extermination……
Arios and his PArty returned to the inn where they were currently staying.
「Aaahh, I’m so tired~! I feel like taking a long bath right away!」
「Yes, that’s right…… I don’t know why, but today I really feel like I want to take it nice and easy.」
Rin muttered in disgust, and Mina followed suit.
They comforted the villagers of Pagos for the majority of the day and then they came up with a plan to exterminate some monsters in the village’s vicinity.
They also went around and talked to the villagers who were scared of the monsters and demons for the longest time now……
And right now, Rin was getting absolutely fed up with those “mundane tasks”.
「Hey, hey, Arios? Do you really have to do this kind of boring shit? I don’t really like it! It’s way too much of a drag!」
「Rin. You really shouldn’t talk like that. It’s our mission to lead the powerless as well. Never forget that.」
「Yeah, I know, but…… We have never done that kind of stuff before!」
Rin had a valid point right there.
Arios has always put the defeat of the Demon Lord as his top priority, and he didn’t care about any trivial matters that could derail that mission of theirs up until now.
But as it was to be expected, if there were people being attacked by the monsters that were right in front of them, then they would have no other choice but to go and help those people out, no matter how inconvenient that would be for them……
Even though in the past, whenever they would hear about a certain village getting attacked by the monsters or demons, they would put extra care in avoiding that place like a plague.
And yet, this time was different.
They traveled all the way to Pagos village to fight the monsters there, and put the extra effort to save as many villagers as possible.
Since it was all coming from Arios and it was extremely unusual behavior for him, it was only natural for Rin to have her doubts about it.
「We have already talked about that before, haven’t we?」
Aggath opened his mouth and turned towards Rin to explain the situation to her.
「That Horizon incident has tarnished our reputation pretty badly. So if we don’t put in some extra effort here and there, it could hinder our journey even further down the line.」
「Which is exactly why we are going to do some good deeds for a change. Let them boost our reputation back to where it should rightfully be.
Arios added, taking over Aggath’s explanation.
「Yeah, I know that. I have heard it all before. But actually getting to do it is the greatest hassle ever. Besides, it’s not something that our group should be doing in the first place, right?」
「What’s the problem? The job itself was fairly easy and we managed to complete it without any kind of trouble.」
「Well, yeah, but……」
As they exchanged casual chit-chat amongst themselves like that, Arios and the others moved to their rooms.
The palace where they were staying was the largest inn in the entire Jizu village, and their rooms were the most expensive ones in that inn.
It was supposed to be a place prepared by the villagers to welcome the Hero specifically.
Arios then sat on the soft bed and laughed to himself.
「This might be really tedious to do, but at least the jobs are easy enough, right? After all, no one would ever suspect that the Devil was connected to us, right?」
Arios then spoke such outrageous words in a plain and as-a-matter-of-fact tone.
The girl that Arios and his Party met when he got the Celestial Ring……
She was the one who the people of Pagos dubbed as the “Devil”.
To be more specific, she was a girl from the Celestial Tribe who was thought to be long extinct.
She seemed to have a strong grudge against humans in general, and if left unattended, she would cause great harm and destruction to the land and its people.
However, Arios and his Party did not do anything to stop her from going on a rampage.
Rather, they decided that they would take advantage of it.
After being freed from her prison, the Devil declared that it would attack the village of Pagos first and foremost.
When Arios heard about it he let her have her way with the village and its people.
It was pretty obvious that if she was left unchecked, she would cause great harm, but even so, no one from the Hero’s Party tried to stop her or persuade her not to do that.
They just all let her do as she pleased, without any interruption.
And then, once she was done, they offered her a deal.
「We are going to help you out with your own cause. But in return, we would like for you to help us out with our own cause. What do you say to that?」
…… That was the kind of deal that they have offered to the Devil.
There was no doubt in anyone’s mind that this girl was a monster and a clear threat to humanity in general.
So it must have come as a surprise even for her that there would be humans out there who would even propose such a deal to her.
It was then that the girl proclaimed that she apparently took a liking to Arios and his Party, and decided to accept their deal.
First of all, the girl attacked the Pagos village as she had initially declared.
Then, when she was satisfied with all the killing and destruction to a certain extent, Arios and his Party stepped right in.
They put on a performance as if they were fighting the Devil for real and managing to fend it off……
As for the girl herself, she just retreated at a suitable moment.
And that was the moment when Arios, the Savor of Pagos was born, so to speak.
This was all possible because of his connection to the Celestial Tribe girl.
Thanks to all this, Arios’s reputation was restored to where it should rightfully be.
He was called a Hero for saving the lives of so many people.
「Yes, it was really easy. And even though it was such a piece of cake, people are praising the living crap out of us!」
Rin laughed happily to herself.
「I do feel a little bit guilty about our methods here, but…… Oh well, I guess it’s something that can’t really be helped.」
For some reason Mina also did not blame Arios, the initiator of the entire plan, for doing something so morally questionable.
Rather than that, she was doing her best to rationalize it to herself that it was something that couldn’t possibly be helped.
Because of the Horizon’s Demon Incident, the reputation of the Hero and his Party suffered a tremendous blow.
And they had to make sure that they would recover from that blow, no matter what.
