CHAPTER 167: THE VESSEL PART 3

「In the past, we used the magic ring known as the Heavenly Tear to seal Iris away, but……」

「Heavenly Tear? That’s strange. Where have I heard that name before……?」

「This is one of the most powerful Legendary-Class pieces of equipment only a Hero can possess and use.」

「Oh, yeah. That would make sense.」

I then realized where I must have heard that name before. It was the name that Arios surely had mentioned at least once during the time I was traveling with the Hero’s Party.」

Also, with that crucial piece of information being dropped here, I now understood why Arios would go to such a remote region in the mountains and destroy some old, desolate shrine.

So, as it turns out, his purpose was not to free Iris, but rather to get his hands on that piece of the Legendary-Class Hero’s equipment that was stored inside of the shrine?

But since the ring in question was being used as a vessel to seal Iris, breaking the shrine and taking the ring must have set her free, and……

And now Arios and the others just ran away from the scene, without even taking responsibility for their own actions.
　
Really now, they were so troublesome of a bunch that it was almost unbelievable.

Maybe it was high time that someone put their foot down with them and did something about straightening them up.

Oh well, right about now Arios and his cronies were the least of our concerns.

The real problem was the seal and how we were going to approach that matter.

「You see, the Sealing Magic that I developed serves to bind the soul of the target to the suitable vessel and keep it contained within it. Of course, with that kind of magic there is a rule that you must follow: if you want to seal away someone as powerful as Iris, you need an item of equal strength as her to serve as the vessel for the seal. On that note, do you happen to possess any such powerful artifacts on you, Rein and company?」

「Well, this is…… I mean……」

「Yes, judging by the look on your face and the tone of your voice, I assumed that this would be the case here.」

「W-Well, I’m terribly sorry for that.」

「Oh, don’t worry about it. There’s no need for you to apologize at all. It’s only a matter of course that ordinary people would not be parading around with Legendary-Class Magic Items in hand. But still, umu…… That’s quite a pickle here.」

Aru-san’s expression turned really sour as she was looking into the distance, mumbling something to herself.

But as a matter of fact, we were also thinking really hard about what it is that we should be doing now in this situation.

「Nyaah…… How about we go and steal some equipment from that lousy Hero? It’s not that he really needs it, right?」

「Well, that’s a rather extreme solution…… Or rather, I would have no objections, but unfortunately we do not know where Arios and his Party currently are after ditching Jizu village.」

「So, would you like to go to the Dragon Tribe and try our luck with them lending us one of their Legendary treasures?」

「That would be nice, but wouldn’t that become a problem down the road?」

Everyone was trying to propose some different ideas to resolve our current predicament, but unfortunately enough, we were unable to come up with anything at all.

And seeing us pondering our heads like that but unable to produce any results, Aru-san shook her head and let out a sigh, as if it was something that couldn’t actually be helped.

「In that case, I am afraid that we will have to use certain…… underhanded, backdoor methods.」

「Huh? Underhanded methods? What do you mean by that?」

「You see, there are various items and artifacts from all over the world that are being stored for safekeeping in the Spirit Tribe’s village. And, as one could vaguely guess, some of those items and artifacts are of the Legendary class. We are going to use such items and artifacts.」

「「Huh!?」」

Upon hearing that, both Sora and Luna exclaimed loudly in surprise.

「Mom, I know that you are saying it as if it was something completely natural, but…… Is it really okay for us to do something like that? Borrowing Legendary Class items and artifacts? Isn’t it going to cause all sorts of problems for everyone?」

「Not to mention doing something like that…… Wouldn’t that brand us as thieves in the village’s eyes? And won’t it affect you negatively by extension as well, Mother?」

‘Yes, don’t talk to me on the assumption that my mistress will steal!　Of course you’re going to have to go to the front of the room to get it right, don’t you?

「Is something like that even going to be possible?」

「Well, of course. If that is the only way for us to do this, then I am willing to go down this way as far as it is going to be necessary.」

Aru-san then chuckled lightly and she patted my head as if she was trying to convey the essence of the words “Good luck with that.” with that gesture.

And honestly…… Being patted on the head by someone way smaller than me was a little bit embarrassing.
