CHAPTER 237: ABSOLUTELY ALRIGHT PART 1

「Hello there, nya!」

「Why, hello there…… I mean, are you greeting me only now? Isn’t that a little bit rude?」

Kanade made a strange greeting to Cell, and in response to that Cell was obviously puzzled.

「Ah! Tanya and Nina!」

「Hey there, you two. You sure took your sweet time getting here.

「…… Nnnhhh.」

The one waiting in front of the altar was not only Cell, but Tanya and Nina as well.

All of them were using the steps leading towards the altar as makeshift chairs on which they could rest for the time being.

「What are you doing here, at a place like this? Taking a break, perhaps?」

「No, sorry to disappoint you, but that’s not it. I mean, haven’t you already figured it out? I mean, with Cell being here, it should be rather obvious, don’t you think?」

「Umm, really……?」

「Seriously now. Sometimes I do wonder if this stupid cat actually has a proper brain inside of her head. Because it surely doesn’t seem that way to me.」

「Yeah, same thought here. But I think that her head is actually empty inside.」

「What was that, nya!?」

Being insulted in such a casual manner, Kanade’s expression turned really shocked on the spot.

However, without paying that fact any mind at all, Tanya simply continued to speak.

「If you were paying any attention to the briefing before the test, you would remember that the objective of this test was for us to get to the lowest level of those ruins, right? That’s all we had to do to pass the test. And now, why do you think Cell is here, waiting for us? If she’s here, this means that this place is our goal line.」

「Really now?」

Kanade looked at Cell suspiciously.

In response to that, Cell nodded her head.

「Yes, that’s right. Tanya is correct in her assessment. This place right here is the finish line that you were all supposed to reach.」

「Alright~~~!!! So this means that we managed to successfully pass the test, right!?」

「And that is why you do not go ahead of yourself and jump to useless conclusions. You have completely misunderstood, you impatient, spinning cat!」

「…… Huh? Spinning? Spinning cat? What’s that supposed to mean? Are you actively trying to insult me here? You are, aren’t you?」

Kanade did not really understand what it was that she might have done wrong, but she knew that had to be it, seeing how disappointed Tanya looked just now.

As for Kanade, she started to sulk since no one was kind enough to explain it to her.

In order to comfort sad Kaande, Nina moved closer to her.

Then, she stretched up and patted Kanade’s head with a gentle motion.

「There, there…… Good girl, good girl.」

「Nyafuh…… Nina, your hands feel really good, you know? ♪」

「You don’t say? But do they have the healing and rejuvenating effect as Rein’s hands?」

Despite meaning it as a joke, Sora was looking rather serious when she asked that question. She then proceeded to explain things to Kanade.

「What good would this test be if the entire team was to pass it just by having one of its members reach the goal? It wouldn’t make that much sense, now would it?」

「Oh yeah, now that you mention it.」

That being said, Reinm Luna and Tina were still nowhere to be seen.

So as long as those three wouldn’t be able to reach that place, their entire party would not be able to successfully pass the final test.

「I wonder if Rein is together with Luna and Tina?」

「I don’t know about that, but in the worst case scenario, the three of them might be all on their own somewhere out there.」

As everyone was thinking about their companions and whether or not they were doing fine inside of the ruins, it was then that they could hear a loud explosion somewhere above them.

「What the!?」

Cell was the first one to snap out of it and make a move.

She held her bow at the ready for whatever could possibly emerge from the passageway and try to approach them.

Kanade, Tanya, Sora, and Nina also readied themselves for battle that they thought was sure to come.

「Was that a monster just now?」

「This hall is warded with a variety of magical tools, so monsters shouldn’t be able to enter it that easily. However……」

Cell said so with a truly grim expression on her face.

If it was just an ordinary monster, there should be no way for it to be able to get inside of the room protected with barriers.

But what if the monster that was currently approaching them was some sort of mutation, or it had something else like that going on for itself?

Or even worse, what if it was the kind of monster that was even more powerful than the barriers protecting this place?

If it was really an opponent like that, then it wouldn’t be all that surprising that it should be able to break through the barriers and proceed forward without any sort of interruption.

Although the Adventurers’ Guild did everything in their power to prevent such a situation from taking place, accidents could very well happen, but it was something that was impossible to predict here.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

One after another, the loud roar of violent explosions was getting closer and closer to the bottom hall.

At the current moment it was actually echoing from one of the corridors leading to the altar chamber.

Realizing that fact, the eyes of everyone present focused on that passage alone, an no one would even dare to look away from it……

「Fuahahahahaha! Weak, so utterly weak! You do not deserve the honor to cal yourselves my enemies!!!」

「Eat this! Try this one for size!」

The ones who showed up in the altar room after emerging from the passageway were in fact Luna and Tina.

They seemed to be being chased by some monsters, as everyone could clearly see a mass of deformed figures chasing closely behind them.

It was then that Tina turned towards the monsters while brandishing a huge and long stick in her hands.

She then released her magic power and covered the stick with it across its entire length, making sure not to leave any space uncoated, and then…… Once the huge and monstrous lump got closer to her, she hit it with the stick with all of the might that her doll body allowed her for.

「There we go! It’s a Home Run!」

WHOOOSSSHHH!!!!!!

With a loud roar, a mass of raw magical power flew forward and managed to hit several horrid monsters all at once.

「And then, for good measure…… “Dragoon Howling”!!!」

As if to follow up on Tina’s attack, Luna’s magic exploded forth and a thumping explosion resounded across the entire corridor.

Dragoon Howling is a long range spell that affects a wide area all at once.

When used in a small area like those ruins, it would naturally damage the walls and ceiling around it while obliterating its targets at the same time.
