CHAPTER 248: THE WHEREABOUTS OF THE MAGIC TOOL PART 1

Since I managed to obtain Axe and Cell’s help here, I decided to once again explain to them the entire incident, from the start all the way to the current point in time.

The part about me being innocent not committing the murder.

The part about me being rescued from the prison by Thalia-sama.

The part about the magic tool that recorded the scene of the murder was highly suspicious.

After explaining all of these things to the two of them, I told them that I wanted to somehow obtain the magic tool that was currently in Arios’s possession.

After hearing my story to the end, both Axe and Cell had some truly troubled and difficult looks on their faces.

「That magic tool…… It certainly IS suspicious.」

「Even more so that the Hero does not want to let it go for inspection, brushing the requests of the Knights’ Order just like that. I understand that it is valuable, but it is beyond suspicious, hogging it all to yourself like that.」

No matter just how valuable Arios thinks that magic tool is, it is a crucial piece of evidence that can either make or break the case.

And no matter what, there was no way that the knights would ever make such a rookie mistake as destroying the crucial piece of evidence because of mere carelessness or mishandling.

If Arios did not have anything to hide and his intentions here were as pure and crystal-clear as he was claiming them to be, then he would have no trouble with giving the magic tool up.

And yet, Arios did not want to let go of the magic tool, hogging it all to himself like a child would to a new toy.

He was obsessively keeping it close to his chest, asd if he was afraid to lose it.

So it really looked as if he HAD something that he was afraid to show to others, and that something would certainly come to light if the magic tool was given up for inspection.

「Axe and Cell, do you think that you would be able to obtain the information as to when exactly Arios is going to give the knights the magic tool?」

「I mean, yeah, sure, it’s not like we won’t be able to find that out, but it is something that will surely take some time, you know? And if it turns out that the date is going to be a day after tomorrow, then I don’t really know if I can actually make it……」

「No, you see, we won’t have to worry about that at all.」

「I have it all here. A detailed date and time when the Hero will lend the Knights’ Order his magic tool.」

Both Axe and I were equally as surprised to hear that.

Don’t tell me…… Could it be that Cell already managed to do some digging beforehand, perhaps anticipating that I would break out of prison and end up coming to them for help……?

I couldn’t really help but to think about that, but at the same time……

Cell on the other hand, she chuckled lightly, as if she could read my thoughts and they amused her to no end.

So did Axe, as a matter of fact. Are you sure that it was Rein who did this? 「Axe. Let me just tell you this really quick: it’s really disgusting when a grown-up man starts acting like a lovestruck tsundere.」

「C-Cell! Don’t call me like that! I have an image to maintain here……」

I really couldn’t help it but to laugh at the interaction between the two of them. Ahh, it’s been forever since I have witnessed something this refreshing.

「Oh well, I guess that we are getting more and more off-topic here. Oh well, that’s the gist of it. So that is why…… We had a lot of work that needed to be done while accompanying the Knights’ Order.」

「Not to mention that with you being on the loose, Rein, things had grown even more hectic for us. However, our primary concern with the Order is to find the Princess and bring her back home safely.」
