CHAPTER 27: ULTIMATE SPECIES VS THE HERO’S COMPANIONS PART 1

「Hmph, so, I’m guessing that my opponent is going to be you, huh?」

「Nyah!」

Kanade was going to confront Aggath in battle.

Rein was going to duke it out with Arios.

And Tanya was going to take both Mina and Rin on at the same time, respectively.

They have insulted my beloved Rein!

That’s unforgivable!

And that is why we are going to win!

Those were the thoughts that Kanade kept on thinking to herself all this time.

「This matchup works really fine for me! You see, I have always wanted to cross my blade with a member of the Ultimate Species at least once in my life! So let’s have a go at it without holding anything back!」

「Oh, you’d better believe it! I’m not going to hold anything back, either! I’m going to beat you to a pulp and make you apologize to Rain, no matter what!」

After declaring something like that, both of the fighters kicked the ground at the same time and collided head-on.

「Muh, guooouuuhhh!!!」

「Unyaaaaaahhhhhh!!!」

Kanade opened up the fight with a flurry of super-speed punches, and Aggath managed to block all of them by using his oversized two-handed sword as a shield.

But even though he managed to do that, he was still unable to completely stifle the sheer power of Kanade’s attacks.

With one cannonball-like attack crushing against his sword after another, Aggath’s body was shaking as it was consecutively being pushed back.

「You’re doing, guh…… Surprisingly well!」

「Oh, that was nothing! There is still more from where that came from! Unya, nya, nya, nya, nya, nyah!!!」

After saying that, Kanade launched an even faster and even more varied rush of fists!

Punches coming from above.

Punches coming from below.

Punches coming from the left.

Punches coming from the right.

Kanade would throw her fist strikes from every possible angle, mixing them up to confuse her enemy as much as possible.

As expected, even Aggath was unable to prevent them all completely.

Some of Kanade’s punches would hit Aggath’s shoulder or side occasionally, and every single time his face would contort in pain.

「Guh, oooh……!! Each and every single one of those blows are so ridiculously heavy and powerful…… Tch, at this rate, I’m going to be overwhelmed!」

「Hey, what’s wrong!? Getting tired already!? Is that the full extent of the power of the Hero’s companion!?」

「D-Don’t underestimate me! You might be the Ultimate Species, but you are still a little girl! And I’m not going to let some brat beat me! No way in hell!」

Kanade’s attacks were just some plain and ordinary fist strikes landing their blows in a seemingly random manner.

But still, since she was a member of the Ultimate Species, every single one of those random and ordinary attacks was one hell of a threat to a normal human.

Especially since those fists attacks were being unleashed like a literal storm, and Aggath couldn’t do anything to stop them, which led to him being unable to turn the tide of the battle in his favor.

He could only turtle up like a turtle in its shell, focusing entirely on defense.

Right now, he could only endure those attacks. And endure. And then endure them some more……

「Now! Eat this! Nuuuoooaaahhh!!!」

「Nyah!?」

And then, as if finally being able to sense the slightest opening in Kanade’s relentless offense, Aggath started to fight back.

Kanade was only raining down simple fists strikes onto him in a random fashion. So it was only a given that at some point, there would be a gap in between those strikes, no matter how slight and how small.

And Aggath made sure not to miss that opportunity once it would present itself to him.

After all, the title of “Hero’s Companion” was not just for show. It was a mark, confirming one’s abilities to be way higher that those of average people.

「“Secret Technique: Explosive Slash”!!!」

Aggath screamed while jumping high in the air.

The long and thick iron two-handed sword, which was as tall as his own height, struck down from directly above Kanade’s head.

For any ordinary person out there, this would have been an unavoidable blow.

They would have been cut off cleanly in half and split into two pieces, and it would happen way before they would even be able to realize what was going on.

However……

「Nyah!」

「What the……!?」

SLAP!

With a loud and dull sound, Kanade slapped Aggath’s oversized sword to the side with ease.

And the way in which she did that seemed to show that she did not even put that much effort into it, as if she was simply slapping away an annoying mosquito.

Just like that, Kanade managed to negate Aggath’s secret technique as if it was nothing.

「Wha……!? That’s bullshit!? Are you for real!? This technique can even split the thickest rocks cleanly in half!! And you just happened to be able to slap it to the side like that!? As if it was nothing!?」

「Hm, hm, hm…… So, this is about the extent of what a companion of the Hero can do, huh? At first I thought that you might be able to do a little more than that,but I guess that’s it. Honestly, that’s kind of disappointing.」

「Kuh…… Alright then! I am going to go all out from here on out! We really need Rein’s help, so I was trying to go easy on you…… but no more! I won’t allow a little girl such as you to look down on me like that! I’m sorry, but I’m going to give it my all with that next attack! Even if you end up dying from it, don’t hold it against me!」

「Alright, then. Guess I’ll also go all out, and hold nothing back.」

Hearing Kanade’s words, which she said so simply and so naturally, Aggath instinctively stopped moving and asked back.

「Or you know what? Since you are going all out here, maybe I should be A LITTLE BIT more serious about this whole thing. …… Yeah, about fifty percent of my strength should do the trick nicely. Kanade dares to use the same kind of words that Aggath used before, just so that she could provoke him.
