Beast Tamer Who Got Kicked Out From the Hero’s Party Chapter 28 Part 1

CHAPTER 28: BEAST TAMER VS THE HERO PART 1

Arios drew his sword.

A grin lift the corners of his lips as he pointed the tip of his sword at me.

「A mere Beast Tamer hoping to stand up to the Hero is the epitome of foolishness, indeed. But worry not, it is a duty of the Hero to correct those who have strayed from the right path back to the right one…… But really now, for saying bullshit like that, you really are just a hopeless idiot, aren;t you? And for the crime of raising your filthy hand against me…… You are now going to face judgment for that!」

Since Arios seemed to be busy talking to himself or something like that, it started to get really annoying really fast so for the time being I decided to punch him to get his mind back on track.

But, as expected of a Hero……

His body seemed to be extremely sturdy, for he was able to get right back up on his feet without any problem.

「You…… You little shiiiiiiiiitttttt!!!!!!」

「If you keep on screaming so much, one day you’re going to end up getting an aneurism, you know?」

「Shut up, shut up! SHUT UP!!! That’s twice that you have hit me now! I am never going to forgive you for that! I’m going to force you down on your knees, and you are going to apologize with your head to the ground!」

Arios then slashed at me with his sword.

He was fast.

I’ve dealt with bandits before, but as expected, he was way faster than those guys and his attacks were way better coordinated.

But it was not only that.

The trajectory of his blade was variable, and he was trying to attack me from as many angles as possible.

Just when I thought that his sword was swinging down at an angle to the right, it would bounce as if it had hit something and swing upwards from below.

I might have had a problem with Arios on the personal level, but that I had to admit about him: his sword skills were indeed very impressive.

I guess that this much is to be expected of someone who was dubbed a Hero.

The number of attacks that were really difficult for me to avoid has steadily increased, occasionally ending up grazing my skin and causing my blood to flow out of the fresh wounds.

「Come on, come on, come on, come on!? What’s wrong!? What’s wrong, what’s wrong, what’s wrong!? Where is all that motivation of yours now!? Why are you running away!? What!? Can’t land a hit on me without using the element of surprise, HUH!?」

Right now, every now and then Arios would increase the speed at which he would swing his sword.

From right to left.

His blade fell down like a flowing stream and jumped up in a V-shaped parabole.

But even though I was exposed to a series of such furious blows like those ones……

Surprisingly enough, I was rather calm.

Firmly assessing the trajectory of his sword, the only thing I needed to do was to evade into safety just enough to be able to evade some more if need be.

If it was a blow that would prove itself to be too difficult for me to evade in time, I decided to take that hit, only minimizing its impact to that of a small graze, making sure to avoid it turning into a fatal injury.

After confronting Arios for a while like that, I have come to realize something.

This guy…… He was not scary at all.

He was a master of the sword and a Hero able to use all the tools and powers that his status of a Hero would grant him.

He was also an expert who could use magic.

If you think about it normally, he should be a ridiculously powerful enemy, but…..
　
But strangely enough, I was not afraid even for a bit when I was facing him like that.

Is it because I have fought Tanya before? Someone who was way stronger and more imposing than he was?

Compared to that fight not all that long ago, this fight was not bringing onto me any sense of impending crisis or urgency. Like, at all.

“Is that really the full extent of the Hero’s abilities?” …… Those were my honest thoughts at the time.

「You really are an incorrigible fool for defying me, the Hero! Maybe I should go to the representative of the state and have you thrown in jail as a felon? Or maybe we should conjure some tall-tale and parade you around in front of the people as an enemy of the entire human race!?」

「For someone who is in the middle of combat, you surely like to flap that mouth of yours a whole lot…… Fuh!」

「Aguh!?」

This is where I first started to seriously fight back.

I waited for Arios to be in between two sword strikes, and I used that opportunity to plunge my fist right into his abdomen with all of my might.

The damage that was inflicted that way must have been significant, for Arios staggered and stopped in his tracks.

Without missing the opportunity that presented itself to me, I slammed two more fists strikes into him, plunged my elbow into his stomach and finished it off with my feet lodging itself right underneath his knee!

「GUUUH!?」

However, Arios was able to avoid the finishing blow by evading backwards in a hurry.

「Tch……..did I play around with you a little bit too much? To be attacked by a bastard like you, what an utter disgrace…… I need to be more careful from now on. I guess this also means that playtime is over now.」

「Fine by me. Just stop your yapping and come at me! Now it’s my turn to demolish you.」

「…… Ngh! Y-You impudent mongrel……!! I am the Hero, god damn it! Someone who is far more superior to you! Don’t you dare to go against me like that!」

Sure thing, I am nothing more but a plain and ordinary person.

I’m not the Chosen One, worthy of being the Hero.

But still.

Who decided that an inferior being can’t beat a higher being fair and square?

「Sei! Yah! Hah!」

「Fuh! Ngh!?」

「Guah!? Gah! Guuuh!?」

No matter how hard Arios would try, his sword was unable to reach me.

It was no longer even able to graze against my skin.

But on the contrary, I was unable to land any clean blow on him, either.

He would simply unleash a counterattack exactly when I would try to attack him, and on the contrary, that situation of a stalemate seemed to be having more and more of a mental effect on him.

「God damn it…… Impossible, why is this even……. What the hell do you mean!?」

A clear tinge of irritation would also mingle in his voice.

I have powered up significantly ever since coming here…… Of course, there is no way that there would be such a convenient development for me.
